My friends and family came to this beautiful restaurant tonight and were disrespected to our face, to the point we had 2 of the owners outside apologizing for the actions of their server “John”. I told both the business partners - Antonio and Simon what happened inside their establishment. They apologized profusely and offered to pay for our meal. I told them I respected the gesture for trying to correct a mistake on their server’s behalf, but I am a business owner myself and do not wish for free service for the mistakes of their employees. I did, however, ask for an apology from the server “John” for my wife and 3 year old daughter who left crying out of the restaurant.
One of owners, Antonio, goes to grab “John” and as soon as he comes out I start explaining to him what he did in the restaurant was unprofessional and - he then cuts me off to tell me English is his second language (as if that is an excuse for for his actions) I told him, “ “John” let me finish, when I finish, I’ll let you speak” he then gets flustered by this and allows me to finish and ask for an apology for my wife and daughter. He does apologize which I respect as a man to own up to his mistake. Both Simon and Antonio again ask for my family to come back in and stay for dinner. I advise them that I will not be spending my money at their restaurant. They again ask to pay for our meal, I declined and left. Our mood for the night was ruined, but more importantly this night we were celebrating a special day for a dear friend of ours.
So here’s what happened. We had a large party reservation and were seated quickly once we arrived. The restaurant was beautiful, the atmosphere was amazing and the hostess was really nice. My wife, myself and 3 year old daughter sat on the end of the large table. We were short a chair so I ask the hostess if it’s ok for us to have a chair at the end of the table. She says yes of course and goes to grab an empty chair. I thank her and place the chair at the end of the table for my daughter to sit. After about 5 minutes “John” comes up from behind me with the hostess and demands to my wife and daughter to remove the chair from the aisle. The hostess was flustered not just because of the confrontation, but she was the one that I had asked if it was ok to set a chair there! I told them, “hey no worries, where can we place my daughter with a chair?” At this point “John” has left the mess to the hostess. Our party of 10 played musical chairs to get up and move chairs around so we can sit on the other end to accommodate the restaurant. My wife at this point is mortified at the situation and takes our daughter outside who is now crying from a random man demanding a three year old to move. The lack of professionalism from the server was astonishing. “John” I hope you read this and ask yourself, if someone disrespected your family, what would you do?
By the way, my daughter was super excited to come here. Her...
Read moreComing in to dine at Mia was truly a nice experience. The decor is upscale contemporary vibe, with some kitschy yet cool extra touches (the floral booth, the flower wall with a swing). We had reservations for 6pm on a Friday and were greeted and seated immediately. It took a couple tries before we got to an 'acceptable' table, as they first wanted to seat us next to the bar which was filling up, and then next to the kitchen swing doors (uh no thank you). Service on this night was perfection. Our main server, Nilay, is such a sweetheart, friendly, and extremely efficient, as were ALL of the 'assistants'... water, changing of service wares, etc... it was impressive. And everyone asked how we were doing and if there was anything they could provide us. Very few restaurant establishments make this level of effort to ensure a great evening. On to the food - We started with the Burrata appetizer. This was very good especially on a warm spring/summer evening. I also started with a cocktail, which they add a twist to. Many of their drinks are served at the table by a bartender, who, adds some 'smoke under a bubble' which is pretty fun/cool to experience. Others have posted lots of pics and vids. 1st Main course was the braised short ribs with garlic mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach. The meat was very tender and well prepared. But, lacking in flavor which was disappointing. There needed to be a more deep/bold flavoring to take it to the next level. 2nd main course was the lamb shank served on a bed of mushroom risotto. This dish also was perfectly prepared, super tender and juicy. Again, on the mild side flavor-wise. The mushroom risotto was perfect! Overall, the service was the absolute star of the evening, and the food was very good. I do have to note that throughout the evening, the manager was always present and working with the staff to ensure everything was running at it's best....
Read moreWe went to this restaurant after we did the Santa hustle run in Downtown Roseville.
We got there around 9:00 a.m. and the restaurant was barely opening and there were a few tables already seated.
To start off the atmosphere itself was just so Chic and just overall playful. The one little section that had the floral wall surrounding it was super cute and definitely a great spot to take pictures. As you enter the restaurant there was a swing with a flower wall where you could take fun Instagram photos if you wanted it there. In addition there were different items painted on walls throughout the restaurant that were quite captivating to the eye.
The fun detail that we really enjoyed were the plates, glassware, and utensils used to serve you your different items and meals.
I would love to give a huge shout out to the staff that day because we were there super early and we're waiting for our other two party members to show up they were extremely kind and never pushy about us ordering we had a bit of coffee and some tea and we're just chatting amongst our small group and then once everyone arrived they came to us and like do you still need a few minutes to look over the menu and it was just a very welcoming energy to our party.
For the food itself we all got combinations of the omelettes that were available and one person got the steak and eggs. There were no complaints at our table at all everyone said the flavors were on point the steak was cooked to the perfect temperature and doneness. I will say that The rustic potatoes that came with most of the dishes were phenomenal perfectly crunchy on the outside soft in the inside with that extra bit of salt on top of it was just out of this world.
We also shared a dessert item I cannot remember the name it was a soft pillow of sugary goodness. Definitely something you want to share with a...
