The first time I went here, the food was good, but the customer service wasn't friendly. But bc I liked my food, I was willing to overlook the subpar service. The second time I went, the food was salty, my order was wrong, and the customer service was rude and ignorant. I had asked if they had jalapenos to put on the sandwich and the clerk told me that I was wanting Mexican food and I should go to the Mexican restaurant next door if I wanted Mexican food. Really? My bf, who's Mexican, was offended and thought the clerk's statement was unnecessary and racist, particularly addressed to him. Um, a simple no to jalapeños would have sufficed. The clerk then went on to explain how the sandwiches were made, and he was about to say American, but he then corrected himself to say how they were made closer to sandwiches from Philadelphia. Sure, ok, I guess that's why the menu has hoagies (when I thought a real Philly cheesesteak sandwich didn't have mayonnaise) and some sandwiches have peppers other than jalapenos. The menu also has pizza sandwiches...is that something closer to a Philly cheeseteak?
I also specifically asked for hoagies, twice, but my order still came wrong. I wanted to complain but the cook didn't look friendly, who gave me my food with a stink-eye look, and I didn't feel like speaking to the clerk who thought adding jalapeños to a food made it Mexican food. I also paid about $3 for a side of onion rings and only got 5 small rings. Not worth it.
After this experience, needless to say, I will not return. The service was not friendly , esp toward various races. The food is pricey and not worth what is provided, esp if the order comes wrong. They're hiring - maybe they should consider getting people who know how to smile and sell their food to different people.
I'm not returning. As a matter of fact, I took the clerk's advice and have gone to the Mexican restaurant next door, several times as a matter of fact, which I noticed has more customers than the cheesesteak shop. Maybe bc the service is inviting and the workers smile and the food is good and worth the price. Take a hint,...
Read moreSpeedy service, love the toaster bags they are served in and they're generous with the meaty portion of a hoagie but seriously lacking in the veggie department. I got like a couple of lettuce shreddings sprinkled throughout (mainly on the underside of piping hot meat which wilted to floss levels).
If I wanted a cheese steak I would order one but I need a bit of fiber if you want me to continue to frequent your establishment.
Definitely appreciate juicy meat, but when all the juice escapes said meat from over cooking then soaks into the bread it mutates into a swamp thing to eat. Cooking, however, really depends on the cook cuz my first visit is fondly remembered.
Consistency would be nice.
These are just a couple of nit picking slights and don't get it twisted; I still mashed this juicy mess in my gob hole like I was fighting to breathe!
Will upgrade my 🌟 4 to 5 contingent on my next hoagie.
PS I normally don't do my reviews day of or sometimes year of visiting.
I don't want negative or overly hyped descriptors to sway readers.
If I still feel some type of way it's getting posted.
Technically a hoagie but more like a cheese steak with tomato slices.
Cheese good! Meat good! Cheese Steak good!
Needed this Post Script cuz this review sounded worse than intended,...
Read moreExtra, extra charge all about it! AFTER I purchased my sandwiches, I had gone back to request a side of Mayo and they charged me 25 cents for it. NOT THRU THE REGISTER. I remember vividly because I had to go back to my wallet at the table and pull out the quarter. My husband had asked what I was doing and he was pretty mad about having to pay for the mayo on the side. (The reason I had to ask for mayo in the first place was because there was none on the sandwich) AND although the prices are CLEARLY printed on the menu, beings that this was my first time there, I had never seen their sandwiches before and was expecting a fairly decent portion of meat for the price I was paying, unfortunately, that was NOT the case. And there was no seasoning to the meat at all. I appreciate the offer of 10 times refund but obviously that offer was said in vain knowing full well when asked for that extra on the mayo and pickles that it was not rung through the register! thank you for the response so that I could edit my initial review to be far more detailed about my bad experience. I also had the chance to adjust my star for bad customer service, since now I know they were suppose to ring those sides up through...
