Took my baby girl and my friend for dinner last night, I've always heard amazing things about mikuni's and have wanted to try it for years now. I am Hawaiian born and raised so I definitely know my way around seafood & raw fish I know what's good and what's not good. Nothing was edible that came to the table. We ordered drinks and appetizers and about after 30 minutes, my daughter got her entree. I asked if we could please get our drinks and appetizers before my daughters meal since our meals were not out yet, they didn't even respond just took the sushi away. About 30 minutes later we finally received our drinks and appetizers and as soon as we did here comes my daughter's food and the raw fish was warm. Obviously it had been sitting out for 30 minutes while they waited for appetizers to get ready. A waitress came and sat a bowl of edamame on our table and I said we did not order that, she did not say she was sorry she did not apologize, she did not even make eye contact she quickly picked the bowl off the table and went and yelled at the server who took our order. We were finally able to get the right appetizer but by this time we are pretty much ready to go. Took over 45 minutes for my daughter to get a Cherry Coke all for her to drink it halfway through, and for the waiter to come over and say oh Ice-T refill? And fill her Cherry Coke up the rest of the way with Ice-T 🤦 Not to mention the California rolls look like they were purchased from Safeway on the $5 Mondays but yet we're charged $9.99. over all the terrible many terrible customer service would not return. Sorry

The food was good. The waiter needed more training. Party of 5 celebrating a birthday. It was busy as usual. He didn't check on us much, drinks got empty and his follow up was lacking. For example. I asked for chili oil, he said he'd check and never even came back with a reply about that. Good thing I didn't wait for it to have my miso soup. After that I didn't bother to ask other things. One of our orders came with a salad...that person ordered a salad. Rather than letting him know at the time of order that the entire had that already, he took the order and brought out the salad. That person was really disappointed and then there was wasted food because he didn't need two orders of salad. We would have been much happier had he advised him instead so that he could decide if he wanted two salads. These seem like small things, many small things make up a good or bad experience. Out of the ordinary for Mikuni and left me disappointed with this visit.

Unfortunately, out of all the locations I've frequented over the past 20 years, the Roseville store is consistently sub par. I debated going to The Fountains instead but due to time constraints, thought I'd give Roseville one last try. I was sadly disappointed. The BBQ Tuna (albacore) that, at every other location, is always like butter in my mouth, was overcooked. I debated sending it back but thought better of it for fear of behind the scenes repercussions. So I choked my way through until I couldn't do it again. I did make the manager aware of the quality issue coming out of his kitchen. He simply said that I should've let him know sooner, he would've had it remade. No thanks. I also ordered one of my favorite rolls, the Hangover Roll. It was "meh." The chef skimped on the creamy sauce and it was much more compact than other stores. Trying to cut back on costs? I don't know why! These two items and a glass of water were $38. For one person. Disappointing.

I love this place. It is my favorite restaurant. Sushi is my favorite food. Mikuni is top 2 of all sushi I have ever had. If I ever get to choose my last meal it will be Pimp My Roll. I do not give a one star for the food. The food is excellent. I do not give a one star for the staff, they are friendly and knowledgeable. I do not give a one star for the ambiance, the place is designed well. I give a one star for the manager tonight. This is my families number one restaurant. This is where we all want to go. This is where we take friends and guests from out of town. We went in tonight and it was busy. The lovely hostesses told us so. Our expectations were set. There was a large party and lots of to go food going out. Our server was great. We gave him our order and asked to rush the kids food out. He did. They ate. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. Tons of to go orders. He checked multiple times. No sushi. Finally after an hour, it was time to go. I went up to the front to go area. I was standing next to our server as he explained the situation to the manager. He just removed our dinner from the check and continued working on the to go orders. The server was apologetic and offered to chase him down to comp something from our check. I said it was alright and we headed out. I was standing right next to the manager, I used to be a restaurant manager, he didn't even acknowledge the bad experience. Just removed the items and kept packing up the to go orders. Even in Titanic Rose pretended to care as she let Jack slide off the raft into the Arctic water. There was space on the raft. But this guy. It was like I was Jack clinging on for Sushi, and he just walks over, stares at me in the eye and says no sushi for you. Then steps on my hand crushing my fingers back and forth like he is extinguishing a cigarette, watching me slip away into the abyss. Every other time we have been there, it has been great. Anyway, I'll be back, but tonight sucked. Kids had a great dinner and I had a peanut...

Will not be coming back. Based off such positive reviews thought we would pop in and satisfy our sushi craving... Wrong. Not sure if it was just a bad Sunday or what, but everything about our visit from the service to the food was less than mediocre. Shortly after being seated, our waitress, Hayley (I believe), brought us our water and left us to browse the menu. First issue was the floating mayo or cream cheese against the inside of my water cup (appetizing way to start), followed by the 10 - 15 minutes in between each of her visits to check on our decision as well as replacement water. When asked about possibly subbing out something on one of the rolls and if there was anything customary the waitress had no idea and basically said it wouldn't be feasible. Okay fine I can settle for something else, should still be good, no? 30 minutes into waiting (15 after seeing the people seated AFTER us get their food), the waitress comes back to tell us that the kitchen is a little backed up due to carryout orders and thus offered to take an order for an appetizer... How this makes any sense is beyond me seeing as that the kitchen is already "behind schedule", so logically ordering anything else would be long after our main entrées-- not to mention it wouldn't even be complimentary as we were trying to be patient while everyone around us was dining away. We declined and about 5 - 10 minutes later our food FINALLY comes out... With one of the rolls being incorrectly made. At that point we were both too hungry to try and wait out another round of "backed up kitchen", so we thanked her, ate, and got out of dodge. Needless to say the popularity of this place exceeds its actual quality, and their staff should be better trained on what their menu contains as well as ensuring their customers are...
