On our first "Friday's Food 4 Thought" review, we went to Raising Cane's; originating in the South in 1996, Cane's recently took its first steps into California, springing up locations around the state...
Carson: It was mid tbh.
Davyd: The first thing that catches the eye is the surprisingly intricate interior compared to other fast-food chains, with posters hanging on the walls and disco balls hanging from the ceiling. The menu is straightforward, with four main options, the main difference being the number of chicken fingers you are getting. There is also an option to order a chicken sandwich, but we did not get to try that out. I got the four chicken fingers option which cost me about $12, and it was cooked quickly. With a standard order, you get a bunch of fries, which are pretty okay, nothing spectacular, but not bad either. You also get a relatively thick piece of toasted bread, an excellent addition and, surprisingly, one of the meal's highlights. The chicken fingers were okay; they weren't bad, but I found them quite bland. They also offer their signature "Cane's sauce," which turned out to be just a combination of mayo, ketchup, and black pepper, and again like with everything else, it wasn't bad, but I wasn't impressed with it since I grew up eating the same kind of sauce back in Ukraine. It wasn't amazing, but I wouldn't mind going here again.
Sasha: It was, okay. It was filling, but I won't go there again any time soon.
Ryan: The sauce is unique for the area, chicken is solid. Overall decent.
Vincent: Raising Cane's has a lovely interior that you overlook until you look around. The disco balls and the overall aesthetic are visually pleasing, and the place feels more welcome. The menu is different combinations of chicken and other things, but that's to be expected at a place like this, like how you would go to a McDonald's expecting to order a burger. The chicken by itself is pretty good and especially with the sauce, as the sauce does not get boring even after using it for four chicken pieces. The coleslaw is not very good, so I recommend replacing it with more sauce, and the fries are very generic. The complimentary bread with the combo I ordered was a very nice touch and tasted surprisingly good. The furniture was kind of weird, though, because the table we sat at was not very spacious and funky to get into. The pricing is pretty fair, and I felt I got my money's worth. The food also came out fast, but that was not the case for my friends, so it's hard to say precisely how long you'll have to wait. Overall the place was not a bad experience, and if the occasion arose, I wouldn't mind going there again.
Overall we agreed that this establishment is a...
Read moreSo I've been hearing so much hype about this new chicken place in town. Friends keep asking, "Have you tried Raising Cane's yet?" When I pulled up, the line is practically out the door and drive through is super busy, I figured that I've got to check this place out. A place this busy must have some amazing food right?
Well, I stopped by with my son one day, so I could finally get to try some for myself. We walked in and the service was very nice, the interior was clean and welcoming and frankly the wait was surprisingly short considering how busy it was. All of that was great, but I am here for some amazing chicken...or so I thought.
We got some chicken strips, fries and their much talked about sauce. I picked up a strip and took my first bite of chicken. I suspect the look on my face went from really excited to really confused. I looked down at my chicken kind of puzzled, but decided to take another bite. My confusion just deepened as I looked around at the people around me. All I could think was, "Where's the flavor? There's absolutely zero seasoning, no spices, no garlic powder, not even a little salt. It's just very plain flavorless chicken strips." It felt like I was in some sort of Twilight Zone episode, because I couldn't wrap my head around what so many people were so mesmerized about. Then I thought to myself, "It must be the sauce! I have to try their sauce!" I dipped my chicken strip and prepared my taste buds for something special....but blaighghj...yuck! What the heck! I don't even remotely like either of the 2 sauces I tried. Now I really can't figure out what people are so excited about.
Let me be clear, the chicken doesn't taste bad; it just has no real flavor at all. It's about as bland as can be, which means that you really need some good sauce or to make up for that and sadly I just don't like their sauce. That left me with a plate full of dull bland chicken strips. I wouldn't go so far as to give it one star, but I can't get myself to give more than 2 stars. I don't plan on coming back, so all of you can rest assured that the lines will be at least 1...
Read moreTried this location for the first time last week for lunch and it was tasty! Knowing a bunch of family and friends who’ve had it a lot over the last few years back in SoCal I knew what to expect. I do believe they may have hyped it up just a bit for me, but everything was really fresh and yummy. I did find that the chicken strips were lacking some flavor, but I do also know that they are big because of their sauce and I don’t particularly like creamy based sauces like that so I can understand why I was missing the “full experience” their ice is the best kind, you know the kind I’m talking about the perfect little crushed cubes! Ahh I love it, and their lemonade was really good! My husband said the coleslaw was good and flavorful and I loved the bread, they did forget to give us our extra pieces we ordered, but that type of thing happens especially at new locations I wasn't upset about it. The line was long, but it does move pretty fast don’t let that deter you from giving this place a visit. The staff was hit or miss, the young lady that took our order was friendly, talkative and really nice and even took the time to give us our Hero Discount. However getting up to the window to wait for our order the older woman “helping” us out was not, she was snarky, rude and unfriendly. Overall I know we’ll definitely eat here...
