My sister in law wanted to try a new place. None of us had ever been here before. While this place is technically handicap accessible, I challenge you to find an older person, who can easily push a walker up the badly maintained ramp. At least it wasn’t too steep, but really that entrance needs to be redesigned with accessibility in mind. Then you enter the restaurant and there are some tables that are lower so that they are accessible to everyone, but there are a number of booths and high tops that she could not utilize. Luckily we found a low top. Good move having menus on the table, because while the waitress stopped by to tell us she would be back it took a while for her to return. We almost left, but the climb down the ramp was in my thoughts so we stayed. She finally came took our drink orders, brought water right away and we got our drink order about 30 minutes later(We also thought about leaving the last 10 or so minutes before receiving our drinks). She did stop by and take our food order as well as to tell us our drinks would be right out. They weren’t, the bartender finally brought them. My sister in law ordered a lemonade with a splash of 7-up in it. The waitress told her that would be too sweet, but that if she didn’t like the lemonade she would bring a 7-up. I understand recommending something, but if you do that you should check back. I flagged her down when she was at a different table to tell her she didn’t like the lemonade. She did drop off a 7-up, but didn’t speak to any of us to say what it was, etc…My sister in law drank 1 sip of the lemonade and none of the 7-up, she didn’t drink the water either. We were only charged for the 7-up. The waitress never returned to ask if we needed anything else to drink, not how to make money. The food was mediocre at best. We had one of the speciality pizzas and the server who brought it out didn’t bring any plates. The pizza was so soggy you couldn’t pick it up and eat a piece. My husband got up found our server to get plates before the pizza got cold. We flagged down the server to get the check. There was trivia that started at 8pm which was mildly entertaining, but the person running it basically told us we were too old to get some of the questions. My husband and his sister are in their 60’s and I’m in my early 50’s. He did realize he said something wrong and added he was also old. A better way for him to advise us on how to answer a question, would be to say think of something that our grandchild would be interested in. My sister and law and I utilized the bathroom facilities before we left. If there is AC in the bathroom it wasn’t working and my sister in law struggled with the heat. Then we helped her back down the ramp with the splintered boards to her car. I’m sure that you can guess we aren’t returning. You can just ignore anyone who’s over 50 or handicapped if you want, but you would make more $ if you made a few changes so your restaurant was safe for everyone and if you avoided insulting the patrons. I forgot to add that the wait staff ran into us numerous times. She did...
Read more-THREATENED TO CALL THE POLICE- Went for a work happy hour, it was very busy and the server didn't hide her exasperation that we had a large group. Evidently there were several other large groups there. Fair enough, I can empathize. However, fast forward a couple hours, she wound up threatening to call the police if the group didn't leave. You're probably thinking we were drunk, boisterous, disruptive: nope. She said we needed to leave because there were a lot of people waiting, and to get out or she'd call the cops. She probably wanted to cycle in more people so she could make more in tips.
The bartender was in on it, too, they went as far as to scoop up/hide the drink menus and pointedly ignore us.
The price on their soda fountain didn't match the menu. They listed it as $2.90 for fountain Pepsi products -- charged me $3.50 for a Coke. Do I care about $0.60 enough to make a fuss? No. Is the Tipsy Steer charging more than they advertise? Absolutely. Who knows what else this applies to, maybe it's as simple as outdated menus they need to replace. However, due to them threatening to call the cops, and the TERRIBLE attitude of our server, I do not trust them. What a shame, because the food was good. I can't throw shade on their kitchen staff, the apps were tasty.
Maybe the server was trying to make it less busy by deliberately giving terrible service. In this, she succeeded; I know I will...
Read moreI ate here for the first time last night with my husband when looking for a fun, casual sit-down nearby. We very much enjoyed our food and experience dining here. The restaurant has fun decor inside and a nice outdoor patio area for warmer months. The place had a good amount of people there for a Sunday night, but was not overly busy. We were able to sit down right away and were served promptly.
We ordered hard seltzers (blood orange and prickly pinneapple) and burgers (plain cheese burger and bacon jam burger) plus the armadillo egg appetizer, and the food was really good. Our seltzers were okay, but not the best hard seltzer we've had. My husband liked his quite a bit though. The blood orange flavor was better than prickly pineapple IMO. Prickly pineapple tasted more like prickly pear than pineapple (was a mix of the two), so if you like pears a lot, then you might like this. The seltzer had a less sweet taste than more mainstream brands, which might appeal to some more than others.
My only complaint about the service here was that they brought the appetizer after our entrees, which kinda defeats the purpose of an appetizer, and we had to ask for forks. Otherwise, our waitress was nice and offered good service and food was...
