From reading the posted Yelp reviews and by my visit, this joint is quite popular and has a loyal local following. The crowded restaurant would certainly suggest that the popularity is well-earned. On the basis of my one visit and one pizza, I would go again, but I wouldn't talk other people into going.
My pizza (the all-meat version with added mushrooms) was severely undercooked. I knew when the pie was delivered to the table that it wasn't "done"...individual shreds of mozzarella sat on top, barely melted. The pizza was very watery and the bottom of the crust was barely brown...like it had spent less than half of the necessary cooking time in the oven. Seriously, eating the slices was like eating a thawed frozen pizza, the uncooked and unrisen dough detracting monumentally from any gastronomic delight. We ate about half of the thing, took the rest home in a go-box. The slices peeled off in layers the next day when I tried to remove them from the soggy box.
The calamari, conversely, was absolutely delicious. Lightly battered, fried just right, and accompanied by a delicious dipping sauce. The garlic bread knots were small bundles of failure, seemingly made out of pretzel dough and also undercooked like the pizza. I expected a completely different type of yeasty bread, so I choked down one of them and let the teens snarf the rest.
Our server was great...efficient, personable, and not overly bothersome, as some staff are at busy joints. The bathroom (men's) was clean and opens into a tight corridor that makes door faceplants to passersby a real possibility.
As I said, I would go back and I would eat another pizza, but I would make certain that I wanted a "well done" pie that was...
Read moreI am updating my review to 5 stars! My previous review is underneath. My family and I ordered from Alessio's tonight and the pizzas were perfect. I want to thank all of the staff for following up with me and listening to my feedback.
I will ill start by saying I never do public reviews, but I could not find an easy way to send you feedback on your website. I moved to town 3 years ago and was happy to find this place and your near perfect delicious NY style pizzas. Over the past, at least 6 months, quality has gone WAY down hill. Pizzas now are too thick, crust is 3 inches wide without toppings, and far underdone, to the point that my pizzas tonight had raw dough in the enormous crust. Also, my wings were very dry from being overcooked and were all drum pieces without any heads up. I feel fine paying a premium when quality is there, but it is a bad feeling when you know you will most likely get much better consistency at another place. Please rectify this. I don't want to have to drive to Alpharetta for...
Read moreMy wife and i had lunch at this restaurant around 2PM. Only a very small number of customers. This should have resulted in great service and food. Ordered a large specialty pizza. After a long wait pizza was served. Crust extremely overcooked, very dry and difficult to eat. Toppings very greasy and tasted bad. Would have returned the pizza but server failed to check back with us, so we decided to attempt to eat it. We consumed @ 50% and refused to take leftover. Eating any of it proved to be a huge mistake because my wife and i suffered digestive track issues start about 11 PM that night.
When the server finally returned to bring our check, we provided candid feedback and received a whopping $2 discount on our $25 pizza. Knowing the markup on a pizza, a $2 discount was an insult. This restaurant really puts the "poor" in poor customer service. Hopefully prospective customers learn from my mistake and select a different place to spend...
