My family has been coming to this restaurant for years now, we've also supported the N Lamar location when we happen to be in Austin. With many restaurants only doing take-out, we decided to call in an order to this location which is less than 5 mins away from my home. I ordered 2 Steak Phos. Now I know the way food is packaged varies among restaurants but as someone who used to work at a Vietnamese restaurant I was unsettled by what I took home. The steak for my pho was raw meat, plastic wrapped, and FROZEN. There was no decency to at least thaw the meat before giving it to the customer. To add on, the broth was LUKEWARM almost cold. When I called the restaurant back, they simply said to put it in the microwave. I don't think they understand that RAW and FROZEN meat isn't to be simply thawed and cooked in a microwave. We paid for a service for cooked and hot food. However, we had to cook it ourselves. We still tried to eat the food since we already bought the stuff, but it didn't taste like it usually does. It was just a let down. I understand you're doing your best in the midst of a pandemic, but we expected your usual dish at home. From experience, keep your broth hot and use cardboard when packing if you're worried about the the bag or other dishes being damaged. Do not expect customers to cater to your shortcomes in dish preparation. Customers expect the food to be ready to eat. Many people choose to not use microwaves, and the broth consistency changes when frozen and raw meat is added in. If you're worried about the meat getting soggy in the soup, IT'S MEAT. It's going to be put in the broth anyway. It is UNAPPETIZING to see raw meat on your plate. If you wouldn't serve it to a customer or your family in person like that, why would you think this applies for take out orders? I hope management sees this and makes changes accordingly, because as much as it pains my heart to say, we will not return...
Read moreTLDR: Don’t eat here So to start off, my friend and I walk in and instantly get seated. The waiter comes over momentarily and takes our drink order and then our food order. My food was good, I had no issues at first. My friend ordered the A4, which is a soup with lean brisket and meatballs; however, the meatballs were utterly appalling and quite concerning to the point that we did not finish the meal. The texture was very very tough, I could barely cut through or chew it. It looks as if bones or tendons were processed with the meat. The smell was absolutely retching, and the smell alone was concerning enough that I asked the waiter what type of meat it was and how it was prepared. The waiter was unsure and a little hesitant to answer but subsequently provided me with a phone number of someone I could contact after I sternly said I wanted to reach out to someone. I will reach out for further questing. I have an inclination that the meat was potentially unethically sourced or not prepared right. Upon reading previous Goggle reviews, I found out that they served BUGS AND PLASTIC in their food and got shut down previously due to unclean environments, poor quality of food, and bad service. I would not recommend eating here. It is not confirmed that the meatballs were unsafe to eat; however, with the previous Google reviews, I do not trust the food nor feel safe to eat it. This restaurant has a history of unsafe practices and violations of health codes and cannot be trusted to do better...
Read moreI've been a big fan of Pho Dan in Pflugerville, however this restaurant seems to be under different, and considerably poorer management. I have tried it about 5 times since it opened, but with each visit it seems to be running worse.
Garnish for Pho is half the size of that in the Pflugerville restaurant. The lime is 1/5 a slice of a normal lime, and you have to ask for more. The amount of bean sprouts, again, half the amount compared to the other restaurant? When you ask for more, the servers become unpleasant. Service in unusually slow even when the restaurant is entirely empty. The staff turnover rate appears to be very high.
On my last visit, I was presented with garnish that was spoiling. When I asked for bean sprouts that werent brown, the cook/owner came out and tried telling me its because they buy it in bulk, and the recent whether caused the sprouts to go brown but theyre really ok. Excuse me?? I dont come to a restaurant to eat barely passable produce!! If your supplier is sending you bad produce, get another supplier! If you arent selling enough volume, buy less until you can match the expected amount of customers!! Hello??
They have a help wanted sign out front.... maybe they should fire the management team, because ultimately this will reflect poorly on both stores and that's really unfortunate. Ive never experienced this poor service in the phlugerville restaurant.
This was my last visit to this...
