We're new to the area and investigating new places to eat. I'd researched Sichuan Garden and decided it was something we needed to check out. It is a smaller restraurant, busy on a Sunday afternoon but we were seated immediately. We ordered a Crab Rangoon appetizer and was very pleased. 6 pieces, served fresh and hot with a very tasty duck sauce. Very delicate, creamy and extremely tasty. My wife ordered Sweet and Sour chicken and I ordered the House special crispy shrimp. One thing I was pleased to learn is the Chef is adamant, that his dishes must be served as fast as possible, so each dish is served at the completion of preparation. No warming lamps and food sitting while the rest of the order is cooking. My shrimp arrived first, and it was exquisite. about 18 medium size fresh gulf shrimp, never frozen, and perfectly cooked and seasoned. Served with bell peppers and fried rice. A nice amount of heat and a mild back end burn to enjoy after every bit. My wife's Swwet and sour chicken was served about 3 minutes after my meal. Again, served piping hot and well seasoned with Bell Peppers, carrots and fried rice. All white meat chicken in a light breading. A nicely balanced dipping sauce. Each piece is easily 2 bites. The staff was speedy and friendly.
One note. I'd read a complaint about the fried rice just being yellow rice. The fried rice (Again served piping hot) was white rice stir fried with a minimum of soy sauce, some egg and onions. It was very similar to fried rice I'd eaten in Asia, and in my opinion very authentic.
While we had to ask for chopsticks, I was extremely pleased to find these were not the standard disposable bamboo, but a nice plactic type with a firm feel.
The total was under $35 and worth every penny. We also observed some family style dishes that we plan to sample in the future.
It was a very nice...
Read moreWow, where do I start with this place. I guess I should start by saying this is hands down the best Chinese food I've ever had, mind you, I've never visited China. But the owner has 50 years of cooking experience, and you can REALLY tell. This is not your typical Chinese restaurant where everything has that same Chinese food taste that we are all used to. This food really tastes finely crafted and what I would imagine to be a true slice of the Chinese Homeland. The breading on the fried items is incredible, the service you get from this family-owned restaurant is amazing. Very nice people who are extremely humble when it comes to just how amazing their food tastes. They go above and beyond for their customers, I live on a completely different side of town, about 30 minutes from this restaurant, and I literally refuse to order Chinese food from anywhere else. I will either make the drive up there myself, or be willing to pay a friend who lives nearby the restaurant, a thoughtful delivery fee to bring it to me, THATS how great this food is. I've only ever left a review for about 3 businesses in my whole life, and this is one of them. Do not walk, please RUN to this restaurant and...
