Regrettably, I have to leave Urban Cowboy with a bit of a mixed review for my wedding. edit: response was pretty unprofessional ngl so also take that into account.
The people at Urban Cowboy were great, especially Jose who facilitated our menu, rentals, and bar. They were extremely accommodating; provided a wide array of rental options at a really fair price; brought, set up, and took down all the chairs for both dinner and ceremony; and only charged us for their very exact service times. They cooked all the food on-site (this probably depends on the venue, we got married at Ma Maison), and dinner was delicious. Before the wedding, Urban Cowboy was our favorite and most confident vendor selection. Unfortunately there were issues on the day-of execution.
The primary reason for the mixed review is that the dinner tables were set-up incorrectly. Whoever set the tables set the wrong number of placements at each table. It might sound innocuous, but it resulted in the kind of chaos you don't want to see on your wedding day. For 10-20 minutes, guests were running inside and outside to re-check the seating chart, trying to count table occupants, and settling on couches in the foyer rather than at a dining table. Eventually, someone found and informed me, the groom, and I had to inform the catering staff. Some tables had their placements fixed, but some guests ended up at the wrong tables in the end, which was awkward. By the time we were being introduced to the room, there were still some guests sitting on couches in the foyer, waiting for a chair at a table. The short delay in schedule caused us to miss most of the sunset for the golden hour photo shoot.
Next is the vegan meals. They told us staff in the buffet line would "go and get the vegan meal" when it's requested-- which certainly sounded like they had specific vegan meals prepared, presumably with an entree (as is typical for wedding catering). Turns out, the vegan meals were just an extra helping of salad and carrots, and there was no vegan entree (the carrots were one of our sides and tbh they were lit).
Appetizers seemed scarce for what we paid for, but I only have anecdotal info on that.
Photo booth print quality was low too.
edit: The table layout was correct, only the number of placements at each table was incorrect. The only way the table error was in no way Urban Cowboy's fault (urban cowboy is the one physically put the chairs at the tables), is if the planners specifically gave them the wrong information. If you want to make that accusation, then do it, but otherwise own up to it. If the setup crew weren't given info on how many placements to put at each given table, they should have asked for that info instead of guessing that we had a uniform number of people at each table. There literally were not enough seats for our guests, and Urban Cowboy definitely had a headcount, so don't buy their deflections.
"Additional guest showed up that we’re not paid for"
This did not happen. We actually had a decrease in headcount after our final contract was signed, as seen in the attached screenshot. So we had fewer guests than you should have anticipated. So incredibly unprofessional.
EDIT 2
Look, our vegan friends told us exactly how it went down after we asked how their meal was, and with 100% certainty, they asked. You should make sure your people are telling you the truth about how this event went. Either there was no vegan entree, or your people didn't know what was going on.
As for "100 people", there weren't even enough tables for 100 people, we already had to squeeze to get all 85 guests. Again, check on your people because somebody is misinforming you. There wasn't a single attendee who wasn't on our seating chart that had 85 names. I don't appreciate being accused of stealing, and you shouldn't lightly make such accusations, especially without proof. Possible that your people forgot that we also paid for 10 vendor meals, which could explain the...
Read moreI had the pleasure of hiring Urban Cowboy for my wedding and I’m so happy with my choice. I was a very particular bride and had a lot of ideas and plans, and their team was willing and able to meet my high expectations. I communicated with Chris for most of the initial booking and coordinating, and then I spoke with Jose the last couple of months for specifics leading up to the wedding. Chris was always quick to respond and helpful.
Jose was amazing! He was so patient, always willing to jump on a call when I had questions or ideas I wanted to discuss. He was so friendly and helped make sure I got everything I wanted for my big day!
We did a tasting and I would say the tasting was pretty indicative of what the food ended up being for 200 people. The passed apps were awesome, as was the charcuterie grazing table! We had the street corn cups which were truly incredible and the pastor tacos were delicious. We did a plated dinner which is always difficult to execute for such a large amount of people but Urban Cowboy did a pretty stellar job! Some tables were waiting a bit longer so maybe could have used a couple more waiters to get food out faster, and a couple people told me their food was not as warm as they would have liked. Again, I think getting a plated meal to 200 people is not an easy task and I did not get any serious complaints and I’m happy with how everything went. Overall, the chicken and beef were both cooked pretty perfectly! I got great feedback from guests on the sauces on both the chicken and beef!! The few guests that got the vegan meal (included additional option with choosing 2 entree options which was so great!!) said it was delicious!
My signature drink was a Mexican martini and Urban Cowboy used their own recipe for the mix and knocked it out of the park - and I have high standards for a Mexican martini.
All the rentals we booked through Urban Cowboy were perfect and the tables looked so beautiful.
Lastly, all the staff were friendly, kind and helpful all night. It was such a perfect event and I really can’t thank Chris, Jose, and all the Urban Cowboy team enough for being a part of my wedding and making it exactly what I envisioned. If I did it over, I would choose Urban Cowboy again. The value of their service and what they offer is hard to beat and working with them was easy and fun. They seemed to genuinely care about my experience and making sure my wedding was exactly what I hoped for. Thanks again Urban...
Read moreMy wife and I used urban cowboy for our wedding catering back in November of 2022. Our experience working with Chris (the owner) was an absolute nightmare. He is extremely disorganized, poor at communicating, condescending, and would not admit when something did go wrong during our event. (Blamed the issue on us and our coordinator)
Here is everything that happened:
The food that was provided did taste good, but the process as a whole and working with Chris was horrible.
He lost all of the notes from our initial food tasting. My wife and I had to somehow recollect everything months later since he could not find the notes, as none of our food and rental decisions were put in email after our tasting to follow up.
There was not enough food provided for our guests at our event. We even had a handful of no shows on the day of as well. Every guest we spoke to said they were still hungry after dinner. We had also requested a specific amount of vegan meals for our guests with dietary restrictions and the staff on site did not bring it with them and did not even know about them.
The worst part of the lack of food is how it was handled by Chris when we communicated with him after the wedding. Chris never admitted there was not enough food even when all 100 of our guests can attest to what happened that night. Neither of our parents even ate that night, wanting there to be more food for other guests. He kept assuring us when he was not even there, that there was enough food. He kept blaming that the lack of food was all our coordinators fault for not asking the staff for more, but we opted to go for family style which included more staff to bring food to the table when needed.
He even went as far as saying "I have been to India and know how Indian weddings are. A buffet would have been more suitable as adding extra food and staff to serve would have cost a lot more for you." directly insulting my family's culture and showing his true colors. Not even half of our guests were Indian, so this reasoning isn't even valid. It was shocking to us that anyone would put anything like that in writing over email.
We did receive a refund for the missing vegan meals, but not for the lack of food on the table, or the stress and embarrassment that came with this whole situation.
Do not recommend working with Chris and...
