Little Bros.
I've been coming to Little Bros for the better part of my (almost) 5 year stint in Michigan so far, and it's really becoming a staple of the complete night out in Royal Oak for my group of friends.
For those who haven't seen the storefront, I'll give you a little preview: It's a small building with classic styling themes and a straightforward menu. Calling out the small factor now because that's probably one of the only gripes that people will have about Little Bros: it gets cramped inside whenever it's busy.
Inside the restaurant, the seating area is an L-shaped Bar, with less than 10 seats (approx.) altogether. When it's busy -- AKA the end of the night -- you'll find that it's standing room only as people are waiting for their food. Usually it's not the end of the world as food arrives quite quickly and people who are standing cycle in and out quickly.
Onto the food and drinks! The menu is laid out on the wall breaking down the standard fare and it's what you'd expect: burgers, sliders, chicken strips, etc. As mentioned before, the food comes out quickly, but everything happens pretty quickly at the restaurant. It's no Michelin Star restaurant, but taste is solid and won't leave you with any complaints. With the shuffle of folks in and out and limited space inside, efficiency is the name of the game at peak times. If you're still trying to figure out what to get, step to the side and let the regulars order first (it helps everyone, I promise).
Saving the best for last -- the folks who operate the restaurant. Seriously everyone at Little Bros is cool and kind to customers. My friends who frequent Royal Oak tend to go every week and have developed a great connection with the staff, it's awesome to see it.
Go support a local business and try out...
Read moreANOTHER UPDATE: Not sure if the response to my disappointing review is visible to the masses - but the owner apologized, asked for details and refunded my meal for that visit! Wow!! Super impressed by the response. I would like to believe my experience below was a one off for this place!! And I will be back soon to check it out! PS - the food has never faltered!! Always one of the best slider places I've ever been to. THANK YOU!!
SAD UPDATE: Still love the sliders, great fries and onion rings. However, brought my friend in last weekend after raving about the place and we sat on two of the four available stools at the counter. The music playing was heavy metal, blasting so loud my friend and I could not hold a conversation and people coming in to order had to lean in and speak up. We could tell it was the music choice of the guy up front, taking orders and cashing us out. I was surprised that not one of the five other men working the food line did not suggest turning it down or changing the genre. The entire experience was super disappointing and embarrassing. I don't see myself returning for a good long while...
ORIGINAL REVIEW: Great little place, great sliders. Love being able to choose single serving beverage from many,...
Read moreLil Bros is awesome. I love these small little dives and diners because they have some of the best food. There may not be a great ton of offerings when you come here but you don't come here for that, you come to places like these for what they are known for.................sliders and maybe fries. This was my first time coming to lil bros and so I was anxious to see if they would live up to the hype of my other slide must go in Royal Oak. Needless to say they passed the test. Royal Oak has an amazing combo of whatever it is ur looking for from fine dining to everything in between.
The sliders were absolutely amazing and while that shouldn't have been a surprise......it was. The burgers were fresh and although they weren't necessarily fast, they weren't slow either. The location is very very very cozy to say the least but the food that comes out of their kitchen has big flavor which is why you may consistently see a line out of this place. They do have a small seating area outside which is nice on a good day. Also one of the best things about lil bros besides the food is that it's next to an awesome ice cream shop that is...
