Terrible.
I got tricked into ordering from this place last night, as they put fake restaurants on Grubhub that are in fact this place. The first two times I ordered from here, I ordered a Calzone which was burnt both times, after that I said I would never order from this place again. On Grubhub there is a restaurant called "Luigis Pasta House" which is just a front for this restaurant but they charge 5$-6$ more their pasta entrees.
I ordered the meat Lasagna for $18.99. The menu stated it came with bolognese sauce, beef, and prosciutto. With a price tag of 18.99 and an ingredient list like that, I was expecting some decent Lasagna, boy was I wrong. It came with marinara instead of bolognese, it came with crumble sausage (like the kind on pizza) instead of ground beef or prosciutto. The cheese or sausage was not layered through the entire lasagna, instead it was all just in a giant pile on top. The pasta was dry on the outside. No seasoning whatsoever aside from chunks of uncooked garlic throughout the thing(Why do you guys put uncooked chunks of garlic on everything?). I can tell they cooked this thing on the fly and just piled it all together, threw it in the oven and sent it out. Disgraceful. Stouffers makes better Lasagna, honestly.
My roommate ordered Chicken Alfredo. The sauce tasted sour and the pasta was mushy. The whole thing was very bland aside from the sour taste from old premade alfredo sauce and more chunks of uncooked garlic. I can tell that pasta has been sitting in a hotel pan with water for at least 2-3 days (if not more), fresh pasta is not that mushy, and does not have a fermented taste. We both threw our entrees out. I've seen my roommate eat Pizza that has been left out for 2 days in a row and he still threw your food out.
I have worked in Food Service for over 15 years, 5 of which were in Italian restaurants. Your'e gonna fool some people some of the time with this food, but not everyone all the time.
Who ever is managing this place has to take a hard look at what is coming out of your kitchen. Clearly your staff doesn't know the menu, doesn't know how to prepare the food on the menu, or ya'll just don't care. You are serving old food, you are going to make someone sick. I suggest taking the Lasagna off the menu before you end up with more upset customers and angry reviews like mine. A bigger menu is not always better, especially if you are unable or unwilling to make the items on your menus in the way they are listed. I know the building you are in has to have a crazy expensive lease being in downtown Royal Oak (on main street), paired with the fact that your food is mediocre (at best) and there are literally 20 other restaurants in walking distance, you are going to be out of business quickly or worse, make somebody sick.
I typically don't write reviews on restaurants (I actually created a yelp account just to review this place) as from working in Food Service for so long I understand restaurants have off days, and sometimes food is sent out that is not to quality. I don't like to slam my fellow restaurateurs but clearly you are scamming people, and you are running a restaurant that is going to make people sick. If you wish to contact me about a refund I will be happy to speak with you and give you another chance, otherwise, anyone reading this...
Read moreAbsolutely unacceptable experience. I’ve never been treated with such blatant disrespect over something as small as soda. I purchased three canned pops—one for my sister, one for my wife, and the third was literally in the employee’s hand—and was still accused of lying. Yes, lying… over three canned sodas that were clearly on my receipt.
Instead of handling the situation professionally, the staff chose to argue and go back and forth with me, as if I had something to gain by making it up. They even counted the drinks I had already handed out, trying to prove a point that didn’t exist. It was honestly embarrassing and incredibly disappointing.
The lack of customer service and basic courtesy is astonishing. With so many great options in Royal Oak, there’s no reason to ever return to Milan Pizza. I’ll take my business somewhere that values their customers and knows how to read a receipt.
This place has in the past fixed late night cravings. Now has put a horrible taste...
Read moreNot sure what happened, used to be a great Pizza and sides dishes, now it's just okay. But great Pizza isn't difficult to find in this area. Did they change ownership? Dough is different, toppings are different, products are different. I had a 5 star review, but it's gone, as are all the reviews!? There used to be 200+! I'm thinking new ownership and I'm never coming back. Used to be a great Pie, now there's no reason to go back. One star because I want to highlight the fact that this is NOT the Milan Pizza it used to be, just overpriced, mediocre independent pizza. Also, a dollar for a 2oz side of ranch is a joke. Everybody sells it for 50 cents to a dollar for a 3.25oz or even 4oz cup. It's all just 1 gallon Extra Heavy Mayo (Ken's or Kraft), 1 gallon Buttermilk (get that local Guernsey), and two 3.2oz packets of Hidden Valley...
