This review is post Octoberfest 2024. Boy, MANAGEMENT messed up big time. I was one of those who got on the wait list and didn't get seated until 5 hours later. I stuck it out just to see how it was going to play out. More on this later.
Now was it worth it? Not sure, two reasons why I would go back again is the food and the in house staff. Food is very good. When we finally were seated (7:45 PM) the food was fresh, good portions, and presentation. We expected at that time they would have sold out of some items and were prepared to walk out it they didn't have what we wanted. Yes I was prepared to go eat Mexican after waiting 5 hours. But their was only one item that they didn't have. Wow, management got that right. Service staff were the best, we ate at the bar (not our first choice but were offered it and we went with it). The bartender was very busy servicing the bar and doing food service. Always having a smile and very polite. If you read this whatever management is paying you it's not enough. You rocked! And that goes for the rest of the staff, not a bad attitude in the house. The FOH staff were especially rocking it. If I had a restaurant I'd offer them all a better job. They had to put up with the constant complaints from those still waiting so long (you can read the negative reviews). I can't believe anyone would wait there so long. I know your saying to yourself: "Dud, you waited too". No at 3:00 PM when we put our names on the list. Took off, I went to the Delta to see the Sand Hill Cranes, went to Men's Warehouse, Macy's and Nordstrom shopping. Came back at 7:30 PM and asked what the status was.
So I'm a person who doesn't wait in line for anything. My feeling is if your that busy their is another place around the corner that is waiting to be the next big thing.
So I get paid for consulting on matters like this. I wouldn't offer this advise to management for free. But your staff deserves better and I hope you take it to heart. Don't allow large groups. By offering large groups they want to sit drink and will take longer to leave. Think about all those who showed up and you turned away, because they didn't want to wait. You missed a business opportunity of capture and expand your market to new customers. Which was the purpose of the event. Instead you turned off a lot of people. Manage your wait list better. We were told three hour, ended up being five hours. It's not rocket science. Make it reservation only. Don't offer drink specials. Same as #1.
I don't know if I'll ever return. With your place in mind I will always think twice, is their another place that I can get in when I show up, have good food and enjoy myself? Would I consider another...
Read moreThe food was mediocre, and on both occasions that I visited, the service was slow. We are given a limited amount of time to dine, but unfortunately, we spent much of it waiting for our server to take our order. When she finally arrived, it seemed we were ordering too much for her to handle, as she asked us to start with a smaller order first.
Having experienced the slow service previously, I wanted to order everything at once but complied with her request. After the initial order, we did not see our server again. We didn't have much time before they closed so I wander looking for a her but no where to be found so I had to bother a different server. Our party consisted of four adults and one two-year-old who only ate fries, yet we were automatically charged a gratuity of $43. While I support tipping, I did not feel it was warranted given the level of service we received.
We only managed to place two orders, but incorrect dishes kept arriving. When we mentioned this, the staff seemed to be annoyed that we brought it up. Our drinks remained empty and were not refilled until we asked three times. After finally getting them refilled, it felt as though additional drinks were sent to our table to avoid further requests for service. Also want to mention that they weren't busy at all the night we went.
Another thing I didn't like is that there is certain orders that you can only order once when this place is AYCE.
I had hoped to give this restaurant a second chance, but after this experience, I do not...
Read moreI had seen this place had recently opened and decided to go try it out a couple of weeks ago with a few friends. You can either have AYCE: which everyone has to order, or you can just pick a la carte and order what you want. My table decided we wanted to do a la carte because we have never been here before and didn't want to spend $60 per person incase we hated it- well we disliked most of the food we had ordered. We ordered different sushi and appetizers but for the ones I tasted out of our order: Edamame? super cold and stale tasting. Spicy Edamame? very sweet with no spice at all and had an extremely awful after taste. Cheese Sticks? you can't fail cheese sticks so they weren't bad. Nachos? came with really hard and stiff chips, but served in a cute dish. Holy Cow roll? not bad. Dragon Roll? missed where the spiciness was at. Jackpot Roll? pretty good. Sun of a Beach Roll? loved the name- it was okay until I got to the last 4 pieces and had a nickel-sized triangular piece of plastic shoved in one of them [between the top fish and rice]- I guess that fits the "beach" theme of it. I showed a nearby busser who was in utter shock and tried to do something about it but couldn't do much except give me a melon bar- the only reason I even left a couple dollar tip was for her active effort. After that, I just wanted to pay and go. I don't ever post reviews, however the experience was really disappointing. I'm not sure if we came on a bad rush night or what the matter was, however won't...
