First time and last time at the monger of Safety Harbor. The girls at the counter were lovely and helpful, but the rest of the dining experience was awful.
The fries were served first (at least 4-5 minutes before the burgers), they were piping hot but greasy, soggy, and zero seasoning. I really returned to the counter and the employee was less enthusiastic to my concerns. He brought the plate of the fries to the line cook who shook a jar of salt a few times haphazardly onto the plate. Still barely seasoned. The picture posted is my attempt to bring flavor into this potato hatchet job. I did not eat any of the fries at this point. I gave up on the fries just like the kitchen.
The burgers arrived in a cesspool of grease, but not the good kind. I believe it must be wartimes at this point, salt and pepper must be severely rationed. My burger had no flavor and overcooked to the point that a burn ward would immediately euthanize the patient as an act of mercy.
My girlfriend's burger was even more of a disaster, I believe the burger once lived another life as a tire, because it was extremely overcooked. I wouldn't have believed brie was on the burger as well. The mushrooms did stand out on the burger (as seen in the picture), but it gave the sensation I ate a piece of bark fresh from the forest. Not the delicious earthy taste one...
Read moreWe have been here multiple times and the food is great and the staff is very accommodating. The vibe is low-key and it’s fair pricing. The reason for the 1-star is because I came in about a month ago at 9:30, when they close at 10. The door was still wide open with people sitting down inside. We saw this girl with glasses mopping the floor in front of the counter and she made eye contact with us multiple times. She took 5 minutes to put the mop down, her body language gave off the impression that she didn’t want to serve/seat us. When she asked if it was dine-in or take out, we said dine-in. She sighed, shrugged, and kept glancing back into the kitchen. She said, “well, we close at 10, but I guess we can still take your order”. We told her “no, we get it. You close in 30 minutes, we wouldn’t want to inconvenience you when you’re clearly open for business.” She didn’t even try to apologize.
That is poor customer service.
We’ve come here once since then to try and give credibility to this place. When we walked in, she saw us and walked away and got someone else to take our order. I’m not sure if she remembered us, but we sure remember her.
Word of advice: don’t go there within the last hour of business or you might get attitude or the impression of being...
Read moreI used to go here all the time for years and it was my favorite burger joint, but ever since the new ownership took over they completely destroyed the Burger Monger I once knew. The fries used to be fresh cut and the burger used to be incredible with akaushi beef. This was the place, but NOT anymore. I went here again after 1.5 years and it's not the same place at all. The burgers weren't good and the monger sauce wasn't near as good as it once was. Even the fries weren't great nor were they fresh cut like they were before. They even got rid of all the malts and even the new shake I had was mediocre at best yet it was all still very expensive. Whoever this new ownership is should really take some serious notes and not change what made this place "The best Burger in Tampa Bay." Now because of what they did, it's now the most mediocre burger place in the bay area. FYI If you're gonna buy a restaurant chain, you shouldn't change the whole freakin menu when the place was doing incredible in the first place especially when people are paying a high amount of money per meal there. Bring the old Burger Monger back. Until then, I'll be going...
