I occasionally come to this restaurant. The food here is exceptionally great, but the situation that occurred today was unnecessary. I was with 3 other adults and my nephew. On of them being my mother. We were ordering and "Carmen" who was being trained was taking our order. While taking my mother's order, my mother was confused with what the waiter was trying to empathize with her order (my mother orders the same dish all he time and tends to need no further explanation). A few minutes later, "yahaira" comes over and tells "Carmen" to explain it, but not in Spanish. One of the adults in my tables expresses to "yahaira", " why can't she explain it in Spanish if she can speak it and explain it to her". Then "yahaira" says "that is rude". I then express to "yahaira," "I didn't like that you said she was being rude I don't understand.." "Yahaira" goes on to explain that "Carmen" is being trained and they, servers, have to work in a fast-pace or more so in an efficient way. ... [Minutes later] After dining in, I went up to speak to the lady upfront. I had a rational pleasant talk and she apologized for "yahiara's" doing. It was expressed there is no manager. ... Now, I'd like to express that speaking Spanish is not a disadvantage, more so an advantage and an asset to any business and I'm sure any open-minded individual will agree with me. Reaching a bigger audience does only well for a business (more so for a local restaurant which gets more customers by word of mouth). I don't understand "yahiara's" rationale or critical thinking" but regardless I am fond of how she carries herself. In any situation or job, there should be someone who is assertive, yet done so in a well-manner....
Read moreI had breakfast here with a friend. Everything we ordered was great except the steak. I ordered the steak and eggs. The color of the steak appeared lighter than expected between the grill pattern. I cut into the steak, it was cooked perfectly. I dove in and took a bite. It seemed loaded with water. The taste was horrible. There was no seasoning. It just seemed like something was off. I don't know how the steak is cooked in this restaurant, but it was not good. I couldn't imagine a restaurant still being in business serving a steak that bad. My guess is it was an off-day. I hope so anyway. I didnt eat anymore of the steak, but I did eat the rest of my plate and enjoyed it. The eggs were cooked to perfection. The hash browns were scattered. The toast was dry unfortunately, but butter is available on the table. I would much prefer the toast to be buttered when it is hot out of the toaster, but it isn't a deal breaker.
My friend had the chicken fried steak and eggs and ate every bit of it. I snuck a bite and liked it too. He opted for pancakes and the pancakes were good too.
I have to mention service. It was impeccable. When the server saw I didn't eat my steak, she asked if I didn't like it. I told her no, but I had no complaints. When she returned with our check, she removed the steak from the bill and only charged me for a 2 egg meal. That was super kind. Kudos for that!
All in all, I enjoyed enough to come back and try something new. I won't order the steak anymore, but they're are plenty of other options. The restaurant was clean and tidy. It's small, but large enough to accommodate...
Read moreWent out to seek a new place for breakfast. Found Rodie’s Restaurant. This place had fast service, great staff and very good prices. Not sure how long this place has been around, but a gem of a place. Not easy to see from Enterprise road and will not see from McMullen Booth RD. look for the hotel nearby, this will be the easiest landmark to find the restaurant. It is located in the strip mall not much on the outside. At least when I was there. Handicap parking spaces and ramps for easy access. Plenty of room inside to move around. Even when full. Inside is mostly bare with a few items to give it a country farm house feel. More tables than booths. They do take cash and credit cards. Alcohol free location, some “diet food” options. Also options for vegetarian folks. They did have a good sized kids menu. I was hungry this morning, I had the “Healthy Treat Omelette” I love spinach and fete in my omelettes. I chose grits and pancakes. Only sliced tomatoes here for healthy options as sides for diabetics here. I also added hash browns to my order. My friend had biscuits and gravy. For me there are never enough feta in an omelette, so I wish they added more. Beside the feta, was amazed by the amount of food, tasted great. We ordered and the food was out in what seemed 5 mins. Very fast for sure. With coffee and a soda as drinks, the whole bill was $20. Very good for the amount of food...
