Golden Corral Buffet & Grill — Restaurant in Saginaw Charter Township

We should have turned and ran. The visit started with when we were walking up to the restaurant and the cashier was crouched down in a corner by the entrance doors with a cigarette in one hand and her phone in the other. About 2 feet from her she started with the coughing. Again we should have turned and ran, but alas, we entered. We waited at the counter for the girl outside to finish her smoke before she came in and rang us up. To make up for the wait she gave us both the senior price and didn't ring up his soda. The cashier was wearing a mask (comfortably around her chin).Every instinct I had was telling me to leave the drinks on the counter and go, but no, we stayed. We picked a "clean" table and was greeted by the only wait staff on that side. The manager was parked comfortably at a table in the back, watching videos on his phone. ( we could hear them) We went to get our food. I would have started with a salad but both bowls for lettuce were bare so I opted for some seafood salad and coleslaw. I also got some clam chowder that I got to eat with my fork because there were no spoons. By this time I was thinking, why did we stay? Well I can tell you I did have a few things that were good. The pot roast was delicious, as was my steak. And boy can they cook a hushpuppy. But when it comes down to it the overall lack of caring by the staff shows. I understand that with everything going on I should cut the people some slack. But I did, I didn't gripe at them I wasn't a "Karen" when with the conditions of the whole environment would have warranted it. We were at an amazing resturant the night before and they were extremely busy and only had 2 cooks. The difference you ask? You can tell those people cared about what they do. As an overall experience we probably won't be back to Golden Corral for a long time....

Our first visit for lunch (4/13/18).....And definitely our last!!! We were met by a morbidly obese staff person who was sitting in a chair at the cash register....Very unprofessional, and she even had the nerve to ask if we wanted to give her a tip! Of course, we declined...I was disgusted with the lack of cleanliness within the restaurant....Although this place just opened approx. three months ago, it already looks dingy, dirty and neglected!! We should have turned around and walked out, but instead decided to at least try the food....Mistake #2 on our part. The only food that looked edible was the salad bar, yet a number of the serving canisters were empty and also not refilled during our stay. We were surprised to find numerous serving pans with old and dried out breakfast food items at approx. 2:30 - 3:00 pm. Also many of the lunch item serving trays were either empty or the food inside also looked old and dried out. We observed numerous employees walking around laughing and talking.....yet, no one was cleaning or refilling empty food trays during our one hour stay. The very few food items we did manage to sample were either bland and tasteless, or subpar and extremely disappointing. Some of the food items also had a strange aftertaste. We will NEVER return to this terrible excuse for a restaurant!! We will also spread the word about the poor quality and taste of the food, the lazy, incompetent staff members, and the obvious lack of cleanliness!!! Do not waste your money at this establishment.....Even Old Country Buffet is a step up from this place! Save your money and avoid the Golden Corral like...

Friendly if a bit overpriced. The manager was friendly and attentive the wait staff was uncaring and completely ignored us until we flagged her down. she dropped our waters on the table and turned around and walked away even though we were supposed to get a mellow yellow delivered there. then it was quite a while till she came back and just grab the food plates and turned around and walked away. I brought it to her attention about her supposed to get us a soft drink and she picked up my receipt and looked at it and then said that she would be sure and bring us refills but never visited the table again. also noticed that there were a big packs of napkins sitting on the table next to ours and one sitting on ours I think to keep people from sitting in her area. The food was decent I can't complain about that quite a good selection. It was fairly crowded and putting the drink dispensers in the entryway is a major pain in the butt if you want to go back for more because you have to mix in and wait for people that are in line to get in the door.

--update March 2021. They finally reopened and I went in there to get a delivery order and nothing seems to have changed it doesn't even look like they've changed the way their sneeze Shields have been done... Kind of looks like a great place to...
