A MUST go every time I am in St Charles/STL. I travel there a few times a year for work. I live in the Seattle area and we have pizza at home but Dewys is just more. Buckle up, this will be a happy and long review.
This place has great service and people are always happy and accommodating.
Lots of pizza options and they get creative with flavor combinations and names. Not just the basics which you can have but some really tasty and creative flavors. Best part is while it is hard to choose you can mix up your pie. They let you do half & half so you can try 2 of thier creations on one pie. I get it, does not sound so amazing but expand your mind. You can get a green lantern with a red sauce and the other half could be a white sauce creamy dream (not a name but just what I call it). I dig it. It is so hard to pick just one so go for the half and half.
I found my FAVORITE pie ever and I do think about it often. Porky Fig. Between the base, crispy prosciutto, blue cheese crumbles, carmalized onions, and a fig glaze on a perfect thin, crispy and chewy crust. Yummy.
Salad- hands down the harvest salad with baby greens, figs, pumpkin seeds, crispy thick bacon crumbles, and boursin cheese. The dressing is a vinaigrette of an oil and citrus. I am not exactly sure what it is made with but it is a perfect complement of a light dressing on soft greens with crispy and chewy bites. I could eat it every day. I spent 5 days in STL on this trip and I did take out 3x! Sad face that salad will be gone soon as it is seasonal but so far I have seen it come back again and I was thrilled. I will miss it this spring with a new seasonal options. Last spring it was something with strawberries. It was good but not as good as the harvest.
I usually get a medium pizza and the salad to go. It is about $31 before the tip. I eat it over 2 days. I went on Sunday an hour after I got to town I pick up my pie before I even unpack.
Today I stopped by on my way to the airport to get a pie and salad to take to the airport. The young lady (Kelsey...I think) remembered my name and my order! What?!?! I was super impressed. I met her 5 days earlier and I cannot believe she rememberd my name and order. She made sure I had all I needed with plates, utensils, napkins and plastic bag to get my food safely to my destination.
I ate my salad and a few pieces of my small pizza before getting on the plane. Dewey's made it back to Seattle with me stored under the seat on the plane. It held up pretty good. Thank you Dewey's. This will be my dinner and breakfast.
Also they have membership app that gives benefits of free items and $$ off your bill. It is linked to my CC so when I use that card it automatically saves my purchase info. I don't have to give a phone # or anything. It is automatic.
Dedicant desserts. I have tried a couple of cheesecake and carrot which were super fresh and delicious. No dessert purchased this trip but happy memories of previous purchases.
I love this place, the people, the quality, and the care they put into my take out order to ensure I will be able to enjoy in my hotel room that day and store it to enjoy leftovers the next day.
Until next time Dewey's!! Thank you Kelsey.
The photo below is my pizza after a 5 hr flight from STL to Seattle. I considered saving my leftovers to take to work tomorrow to share with coworkers but who am I kidding? It is ALL FOR ME!!
Cheers!! Now that you have stayed awake long enough to read this review, go try Dewey's. You can eat there to enjoy yummy yummy cocktails, watch a sporting event, people watch, or enjoy your company. The establishment is a nicely decorated and comfy restaurant. The kitchen is behind large glass walls so you can see them prepare your food and watch them toss the dough into the air. All the employees are smiling and laughing and make you feel welcome. You will not be...
Read moreBoyfriend and I went here for Valentine's Day I'd never been he comes all the time I wish I would have looked at the menu beforehand, because I would have insisted we dine elsewhere.
As I will classify this place hipster at an art school party, all of their custom pizzas that they have on the menu for you to order have weird names like dr. Dre, Socrates Revenge, Edgar Allan Poe.
You can get your pizza in three sizes 11 13 + 17 in unless you're going for gluten-free that's 12 inch.
The crust was decent it honestly tasted homemade and it was chewy it wasn't under done or overdone, for a pizza restaurant to only have one crust thickness and no option of getting thin crust thick crust hand tossed or pan seems pretty silly if I had to say their crust was probably hand-tossed which I prefer a thicker crust I honestly do. The boyfriend tried telling me it was a secret menu option if you wanted a different thickness of crust you had to ask for which is pretty stupid if that is legitimately the case.
I didn't care much for the toppings most of the specialty pizzas had nothing but vegetables or too many vegetables which to me seems a little weird they didn't really have any of the basics the sausage pizza which was a customs create your own came with like 10 to 15 little like three quarter inch sausage discs on an 11 inch crust which for almost $12 I was appalled I don't know how much my boyfriend paid but if I read the menu correctly your first topping was free additional topping went anywhere from a dollar fifty to $2 for the standard toppings. I'm not saying that it's a good thing or a bad thing but when I see 85 to 90% pizza and like 15 to 10% toppings that aren't sauce and cheese that's kind of sad.
I'm not necessarily a very good judge because I am slightly picky but when the closest thing to a normal Pizza they have there from what I read off of the menu is a Hawaiian equivalent Pizza that scares me.
The wait staff was excellent and don't get me wrong the food tasted good but the amount of topping I got on my pizza left me less than amused and I mean if they want to use Gourmet toppings that's on them but I should get a fair amount. I didn't want to take a photo at that point in time but I really wish I did because I'm serious that pizza was sad for the amount of money he spent I could have gotten with coupon enough Pizza Hut to feed me him and have leftovers for later when I order an 11 inch pizza and eat all but one slice and yet five hours later I'm hungry again, after doing nothing that would have burnt off energy to make me hungry.
Aside from that the restaurant itself is always fairly busy they have a good staff and a good amount of patrons which frankly...
Read moreWhat can I say other than wow. We have loved Dewys from day one of trying them and we go at least once a month. This last time though was the most wonderful experience. After becoming excited about finally getting a date night we were turned away from a restaurant because we didn’t have masks to make a three foot walk through a Front door and through the patio door. After leaving we decided Dewys was the place to go. When we got there we were also informed we would need a mask to walk in. Instead of turning us away, one of the staff greeted us and brought us two masks so we could come in and order. We were then greeted by the staff who all were very nice and caring. Later the same employee had come back to check on us and she asked about the situation we encountered at the other restaurant. She expressed how she was sorry and how she was glad we had come to them. They waited on us in a timely manner and made sure they knew their products. When we had finished our meal we decided to order a slice of cheesecake since we were turned away from a restaurant with the same name cough cough. We were brought the most delicious cheesecake we had ever had and we were told the cheesecake was on the restaurant tonight since we were turned away earlier. Overall I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and I’m glad to call it...
