day after update
Food poisoning occurred: I was very suspicious about the oysters, but ate three anyway...bad decision by me, as I just had a major explosion out the hiney, accompanied with body bloats, swollen sores, and continuous gurgling in my gut.
Wow, are these morons that stupid? Well, evidently, yes.
I am never eating anything from here again. Disgusting.
Good thing I went back, however, to expose the health hazard hosers.
Have a great Weekend, everybody!
All the best,
Jake
Update! Due to several first time good/second time bad experiences, I decided to head back here with my last $20 to make sure this spot wasn't (one of those). Well, it kind of was in one aspect... While the food and staff was still good, I came across a bait and switch technique sorta thing which went as follows: Upon entering the restaurant, I looked at the sign to make sure the lunch price was the same as yesterday and read lunch for 15.99, so I sat down and commenced the chowing. Part way through my meal, a ticket for $25.85 was dropped on my table. What is this?? I immediately asked about it and was told that it was "the weekend price." Ok, anybody who knows anything about the restaurant biz is aware of Friday and Saturday being weekend pricings, so that is nonsense. The manager insisted on running my debit card even though I told her there was no money in the account, as I had been frauded by the USU Credit Union already and only brought the balance back out of the red in order to not be on the no checking account list. Suspicious, aye? Anyways, she took my last buck and said it's cool if I come back with the $5.85 when I can. So I finished grubbing and skidaddled.
Much more on this to be revealed later.
Peace and love,
JTL
I had been to this munchery once before and thought it wasn't bad, so decided to give it a more thorough sampling as I was urging for some sushi. My expectations of these China buffets that set out the raw sea dwellers is usually anything but lofty.
I must say that my experience here blew the.lid of my expectations!
Here's why: the sushi was fresh with tasty, proper rice patties. Wasabi paste was nice along with the ginger. they had a pretty decent variety with actual raw tuna and salmon, as opposed to the k-rab only choices the cheese rangoons were Fantasticly scrumptious clams, muscles, and shrimps were available and pretty darn tasty. the fries were even crispy, plenty of fruit options including some of so yummy honeydews. the ice cream selection consisted of vanilla, chocolate, rainbow sherbet, strawberry, and my favorite: cookies and cream. This stuff was sooo good! (I tried all but the sherbet)
The staff were friendly and there was a clean atmosphere including a couple of TV's for a bit of sports to scope while throwing down no less than 4 plates of satisfying grub.
Thank you, people from Ocean Buffet!
I look forward to my next...
Read moreOcean deserves a decent review from one who goes to these all over the usa. I was not going to go at 1st because of these nasty reviews people have on here. What a fluke! Happy I took the chance. Absolutely nothing wrong here! The food was all decent temperature and it wasn't packed nor a weekend! The seafood was good and fish was fine! They have Atlantic salmon & imitation crab nigiri rolls and ahi tuna & Atlanta salmon sushi rolls. Avacodo sushi rolls and several other common sushi rolls. Only negative was no sashimi or other kinds of fresh fish or other nigiri, super limited here and was the highest priced buffet in any state I've been in recentlyand in the past. Anyways. Fresh raw oysters was fine! Medium sized fresh peel & eat cold shrimp, crab legs, steamed clams and tons of fresh fruit & vegetables! Boiled eggs, I removed the yokes and stuffed with the inside of some sushi stuffing and topped with raw fish(yummy) I made a sashimi salad asap using the fresh lettuce & salon/ahi tuna etc and little seaweed salad yummy. There's fresh tomatoes/ cucumbers you can put together your own diy salad with the plain lettuce. There was chicken skewers, pork ribs, beef ribs all was good. Tons of saturated, fried Chinese food junk & they ruined the muscles with them saturated in junk cheese lard so unfortunately couldn't eat the mussles & not steamed fresh oweal( please steam them plain ty and not ruin them). I don't care for the junk and always skip. I attended to the more Japanese flair & some Korean (the bbq & skewers meat mentioned above) there's no tomyum or main Korean only the bbq ribs/beef ribs/chicken skewers fall in that area. Anyway they have a decent desert area as well lots of your cake & cookies, jello, fried banana, donut balls and ice cream. There yogurt, vanilla icecream, cookies & cream and another (odd not to see green tea or red bean ice cream thou) but this restaurant is perfectly fine to eat & go to. No waitress tossed my tab at me. Here's the deal! They seat you! You pay after! Well they give your tab at your table) and it's NOT TOSSING IT AT YOU nor saying LEAVE! It's giving you your tab! It's NORMAL! Don't mean omg go! Ignore these other reviews there just not use to a restaurant that puts the tab on the table. I kept eating another hour after tab was put on my table and? It's just your tab. Nothing was bad here. I highly recommend it. I took pics of the entire buffet and every plate I ate. They have a wide option of hot sauces and sauces also. 5 stars for st George. But it is the most expensive one I've ever seen and missing numerous things lol..but was good for what was there. Thank you ocean buffet it was a pleasure and you guys was awesome. No complaints. If I've ever in the area again, I return. I do take it they add the tip automatically in your tab for how much the...
Read moreHow much does food poisoning cost? $23 a plate come to find out! Dining out in St George has become nothing less than an exercise in futility! Nothing available in the buffet was fresh or hot. I have been in food service for over 30 years and I have never encountered a lack of caring or basic food safety as I have seen there. Anyone who knows anything knows the hot food must be served at least 145° and cooked to at least $165°, to 185° f depending on the item cooked. Every item on the hot part of their Buffet was cold. Even the hot and sour soup which is meant to be hot was barely lukewarm. I do not understand how places like this stay in business when with one visit from health inspector wielding a food thermometer would shut the place down. People may say that I am overly cruel but when I go to eat a hot dish it should not be at room temperature. The unfortunate thing is is it has become a trend in the buffets in St George Utah. The only place worse in St George is the Chinese buffet located on the south end of Bluff Street. If I were you and you are visiting St George for the first time I would avoid all of the buffets except for the HuHot Grill as it is cooked in front of you. I would have said the locals as well, but unfortunately for us we have been made well aware of how poorly the restaurants have acclimatized to being back at full capacity since the ending of the covid shut down. As far as this customer is concerned dining in St George has gone from a B+ average with lots of different styles to choose from to a strictly failing grade! Unfortunately this app requires me to give them at least one star when I cannot give them...
