You park, and as you get to the front, there is a giant 2-ton door with a sign that it's heavy. Maybe they don't want you to enter. Once inside, there were two young host/hostess doing their best to keep things in order. Their lack of experience was quickly dismissed because they tried to be professional and courteous and were good listeners. It was busy, but i only waited 10 minutes for a table. I sat at my table and was greeted promptly by a server. Salsa and chips were brought to the table. I chose to go sit in the upstairs area, and that was a mistake. The bartender was the only friendly, courteous professional. There was another young man who was hustling and doing his best to clear tables. My server Joey must have been new because he didn't know which qr codes did what. He forgot what I ordered, and he was all over the place. This is not a critique because he tried his best and can develop into a solid server. This experience, he looked like a deer in the headlights, trying to figure out what to do and how to do it. Overall, great experience, Joey. There was a woman busser who was stone cold and did not seem old enough to be cleaning tables where alcohol was being served. She would look you in the eye with disgust, and when I asked her if she could bring another salsa to the table, she scoffed. "You should ask your server, Joey." In small towns like St. George, it can not be forgiven when an establishment fails to hire young professionals. Smiles and courtesy make a business thrive. The food itself was perfect for the senior Americans of this great town. Served without flavor, you can add your own salt and pepper to your palattes' desires. The food was more American than mexican. If you want a place for authentic mexican food, go anywhere else. The drinks were cold, which was the best part. I would come back just to enjoy a cold beer but nothing else. Avoid this place if you want a friendly environment and tasty mexican food. Come here if you want a cold beer. If the service can elevate this establishment, it stands a chance in the field of mexican...
Read moreI have been there 3 times in the last month...but i have been a costumer for years and is only fair to give a honest review, and and i will say why ill give them 4 stars and a half, not five, but 4 and 1/2.... First ill take the first half star because the never have parking...I assume is not completely their fault but in the years i been dinning with them i never seen improvement, second star ill grant is because they log you in,and seat you really fast...even when the place is packed, that is appreciated... the third star ill grant is the appreciation for their good food...i am mexican born and is close to the original flavor as long as you dont try something "american cuisine"...try to stick to mexican in this place or youll regreat it, they have the best burrito for your buck, every thursday....every thursday i seat at the bar and devour one of those with eagerness, and the young staff is concentrated in doing their best the attention of the gorgeous ultra polite young lady is unbeatable, this is a place that dont hurt me to leave 125% tip over my bill because all the team is very good, which bring me t... me assigning a fourth star in my biased consideration of things...the prices...they are really friendly with my wallet, sometimes i feel like i am underpaying in this place!...i am not comparing with other places with similar food or prices, let me be clear, i am saying that in comparison with the quality of food and service your dollar go farther in this joint, some wise person said that you get what you pay for...right?, well in this dinner you really get more for what you pay....which lead me to consider hang a fifth star in this banner: the environment is really positive and casual with that weird spanish music in the background...all the time i been there i see young cool people servicing everything with proffessionalism and charm, and above all smiles, i never sew employes quarreling among them selves or costumers complaning, definitely i will recommend this restaurant 24/7 all 365 of the year! And i am coming back myself...
Read moreBeen going to Cafe Sabor since opening. It was nice to have another choice in Mexican food in town,(taking a break from Irmitas on 700 s. and Angelicas on the blvd., both excellent)and initially very much enjoyed. Food was very good and atmosphere great. However the last few years or so, we have noticed the decline. This last visit my wife ordered the taco plate and the shell was like rubber either from meat juice seeping thru shell and mixing with other plate items or just bad quality, cheese virtually none existent. That was it meat and cheese nothing else. It was supposed to be crunchy dressed with possibly lettuce and maybe other ingredients. I regret to say it was the worst presented taco ever, the shell was barely chewable she couldn't finish it. I ordered the carne asada burrito, although it was favorable it was 80% rice and what meat it did have was tender. My grandson ordered rice and beans extra with his shrimp tacos all he got was rice. Early on when chips and salsa arrived we requested Pico de gallo with it however never got it till our food arrived and mentioned it to the gentleman server who brought it promptly in a table spoon size cup, no problem figured it was complimentary. We finished our meal without drawing concern to our waitress who by the way was very polite and professional, everyone was and they appeared to genuinely try. However she was very, very busy I noticed she was doing both bar and serving the best she could have with only one other server that I noticed. She was slow with us and showed us little attention, refills, ect. OK we understood. When we did get the bill I saw we were charged $1.75 for the Pico de gallo(a tablespoon). Not wanting to wait any longer we payed bill and left. All that being said quality and function have sadly slipped away...
