The Good: I really enjoy the food and shakes here. Let's be honest, shakes are why we come to Iceberg Drive Inn. My wife loves the fry sauce. Fries are A+. I had the pastrami burger, it was good. The grilled onions made it great. Some of the best grilled onions ever: grilled long enough to sweeten and glaze, but not burn. The shakes are delicious, with tons of flavors. Free wifi is great. Also, I love this style of ice: tiny cylinders. Makes me smile.
The Unusual: This is the question that has plagued me for years: why do they serve the shakes with a smaller cup inside of a larger cup? Whenever I have come here I ask other customers or family and not one can give me a logical or satisfying explanation. In case you haven't been here, please see the attached videos. Basically, they have a medium sized cup and fill it with a very thick shake about 2 inches above the top of the cup, then they place this inside a larger cup. So tonight I asked one of the workers why they do this. He gave me the typical answer: the medium cups overflow so much, that the larger cup helps to keep it all inside. Naturally. So I ask, "Why don't you just place the whole thing in a larger cup?" No answer. Isn't anyone that has ever owned or managed an Iceberg at least curious as to why we are wasting a cup with each order of a shake? I'm not an environmentalist by any stretch, but if this were in California, I'm sure they would pass some law against this. As you can see from the videos, the entirety of the regular size shake would fit in one single large cup. BTW, they don't even sell a large size. The only explanation is that this is all a big gimmick: give them an overflowing shake in a smaller cup so it looks and feels bigger; the extra cup is unique so customers remember this place. If anyone (especially an owner), can give a better explanation, i'd love to hear it. Otherwise, keep doing what you are doing, cause the food...
Read moreWe are here on vacation, and stop by to get some dinner. The service we had was unbelievable the girls that worked last night were so rude! We had a big order and it was Friday night so I get it pressure is high and crazy in there but to be treated the way me and my family were, there really it’s no excuse and it’s really unprofessional. The waitress that took are order was very rude and seemed super annoyed by us but I get it again it was a big order but she was so annoyed she did put in our kids orders and then argued that we didn’t say that. Then the waitress that brought out our shakes first off had her fingers with no gloves! Then she goes to hand them to me, these huge large messy shakes well I’m not going yo get ice cream all over my clothes so I tried to grab either bottoms she snatched them out of my hands then slammed them on the table Kay strike one. Then a few minutes later our is food out so I stand up she is carrying two heavy trays and tries to hand them to me i literally told her i was not ready and she let go anyways and i just about dropped our food on the floor that was strike to we had one more thawing coming out and we knew it was going to be a minute which was fine with us is it finally comes out and this was a different waitress now but my exact words to her were “I’m so sorry but is there any way we can get this to go?” well she grunted out loud”UGH” and snatched the tray out of my hands and grabbed right back and said forget about it. I understand the restaurant was busy our order was huge and a lot was going on. But what they didn’t know is our family was going through some craziness too, but did we come in take our crazy day out on them ?No we didn’t we waited patiently and still was treated the way we were. Very...
Read moreLet me just first start by saying that they do not use Oreo brand cookies for their Oreo shakes and so they do not taste good. I love a good Oreo shake so right off the bat I was not loving my experience.
The employees were very nice both times we came to get shakes.
On our first visit we went through the drive thru and it took forever!! It was a Saturday night but wow it took like 20 minutes just for three shakes.
On our second visit we got a pastrami burger, onion rings and fries. The pastrami burger was just OK the fries were very good and the onion rings were huge but they lacked flavor. I was a little disappointed that extra fry sauce cost money.
We ate in the lobby the second time which was moderately clean. The ceiling vents had a lot of dust buildup on them which can kind of wonder how often the place has a deep cleaning. Every table was lightly dirty even though the restaurant wasn’t very busy which leads me to believe that they don’t clean the lobby very often.
The bathrooms were not dirty but had a dirty bathroom smell. The most awkward thing was the fact that the men’s bathroom had the urinal right next to the sink with no barrier in between them. This makes it awkward for people who might be using the urinal all different people are washing their hands but is it also gross because of The proximity to the sink.
I do want to end by saying that their shakes (if you don’t get the Oreo/cookies and cream shake) are very good. This is the only reason I didn’t give them two stars. The shake pictured is the mini and it was huge. We ended up getting a raspberry shake and it...
