Racially profiled at this location, highly unacceptable… so here’s my story for all those who want to hear. I walked in “first time ever” to meet a friend for a drink, during the conversation I got a menu & chose to get 1 beer “rarely do I ever drink” I used the only bill on my person which was a $100 bill “mind you the beer only costed $4 so my change should’ve been $96 back instead gave me back $76. Long story short the man implied that I’m a scam artist, started making unreasonable assumptions about me. I told the man check your cameras because clearly you made a mistake & his response was “that’s a unnecessary reason” then called the cops on me when I chose to not leave until I got my money back. Once they arrived they told me to come back the day the manger would be in which would be 11/08/2021. I felt unwelcome, I felt left out, I felt I wasn’t accepting to where I was…. It hurts because only certain people would understand my position in the state of mind. The manager called back & apologized for the bartenders actions & tried to understand where I was coming from, he knew i was right & offered my money back plus a free drink which I turned both down because it’s not about the $20 dollars anymore it’s about the principle of this whole conflict. I’m putting this out there just so this doesn’t happen to...

Still Like Beer - Part 2!

I wrote some of the very same thing for another favorite brewery of mine, Blackstack and my review for them could be used for Barrel Theory as well. I have not been the biggest fan to the Minnesota brewery scene, especially after traveling out to Oregon and Washington and experiencing perfection at every corner.

And, It's no secret, Minnesota has plenty to offer, but with the over abundance of breweries and the feeling that a new one opens ever-other week, it's still amateur hour for the majority of them....

For BTBC, that's not even remotely close to the case! Every beer they make and serve to us beer lovers has been the type of experience I'm used to from my travels out west. With only 1 trip under my belt, I already find myself wanting more and more. I find myself looking forward to the next creation they launch and hoping that I have an opportunity to stop in to check it out.

Like Blackstack, BTBC is a definite keeper and I hope they keep providing all of us with their amazing creations so we can keep on enjoying the beauty of craft beer making at its...

Ventured across the river to check this place out with my girlfriend last Saturday night...was lucky to get a couple spots right at the bar. We tried both the Dorothy Mantooth and Rain Drops and both were stellar IPA's. Love the clever names on all the beers...why the 2 star review you ask? Well...shortly after sitting down, a young couple (mid 30's), their 3rd wheel friend and maybe 6 yr old kid sat down at the bar. Yup 6 yr old kid 9pm Saturday night at the bar. Normally I'd be like whatever but the parents who were clearly to lazy to find a babysitter set the kid up with a game on one of their iPhones. So, while enjoying our beers, we had to listen to the annoying chimes and sounds of this 6 yr old's game, sitting right next to us at the bar. On top of that, Barrel Theory keeps their front door propped open so cigarette smoke from people outside kept coming into the bar, not pleasant at all. Barrel Theory - You're a BAR, it's one thing to allow families and children during the day but on a Sat night at 9pm, you allow toddlers to sit at the bar?...

My best friend and I headed to Barrel Theory to enjoy this year's version of their sour MPG. Was not disappointed. Barrel theory used to have many sours, but lately they have morphed into more of a juicy NE IPA and hazy IPA Brewery. In the summer, the small patio is nice, and inside the atmosphere is always lively and fun. Sometimes it can get kind of loud. EDIT: I dropped in to BT a couple of nights ago. It was hopping crowded. Mask policy is strictly enforced (as of Feb 15, 2022). Tried their "Black Lotus" a heavy milk stout with coconut (10.1 ABV) which was a "sipper" and delicious, and also tried the "Raspberry Lemonade" a kettle sour with raspberry and lemons (dah). It was also nicely tart and crisp (for a berliner weisse sour) and had a nice kick of fruit too. Color was an outrageous pinkish, like lemonade! See my photos. I am happy that BT is again open for later hours, and seems to have survived the corona disaster. It was crowded. Staff was, as usual, awesome.

This place is stellar. They are celebrating 🍾 their anniversary party. Staff is solid, the brewery is in a great place in uptown Minneapolis

Great place with great ambience. We were 4 of us and we got the Rage Quit (Pilsner), the Stormbreaker (Imperial Stout) and the Java Oats. One of my friends claims it is the best imperial stout he has ever had. Frankly, the pilsner was just okayish but the feel of this place is really good and they had a patio access which allows customers to go outside and enjoy the weather. My friends had the "beyond hazel eyes" (imperial stout) the first time they came here and they told me it was the best they have ever had. But I guess it keeps getting better. I wish they had more lager and pilsner options rather than an IPA dominated menu. Great place if you are into breweries. Must try!
