A story of how a straw ruined everything: Previously haven give this place a 5 star review and have referred several visitors here. Today we had a sub-par experience worth noting. Our normal server/bartender combo were not working and the place was packed on the inside, or normal place on the side deck sealed from the inside by a sliding glass door with firm restrictions on dogs. We have previously brought our Sheltie in with no issues and the nicest staff. Seriously, I rave about this place and I'm a Lyft driver so I'm constantly being asked about the best beach places. We sat and were greeted fairly quickly, by a medium height woman who took out drink orders and promptly brought them back and took our orders. After she left I realized I had not been given a straw and they are very generous with their drinks at the bar, so I waited for her to return before drinking much. I managed to snag a water and a straw from another server. Food came and was delicious. However on our 2nd round of drinks being delivered we were not given another straw for our drinks (St. Pete FL has an ordinance against plastic straws) and my boyfriend wanted another. Our waitress came back out to the patio to deliver the table behind us's check, and he called loudly twice to say "hey, may I have a new straw please"? He was ignored and followed our server inside. After asking the server for a straw he turned and was suddenly being screamed at by server. Comes out and server is screaming about being hard of hearing and we are being handed a check, with excuses of how busy and overwhelmed she is with all the tables she has. Wish I would have caught her name. I just wonder where our normal servers are? This is not how we have been treated in the...
Read moreThe Drunken Clam on St Pete Beach... Is a friendly (locals) dive bar experience with soup, lunch and "sundowner" specials every day. Today, I started with the French Onion Soup (follow their facebook page events to know the soup of the day). While served in a Styrofoam cup and with plastic spoonware... The soup was loaded with actual onions and the broth is beefy ! I followed my soup with the lunch special (you can choose from several entrees' and sides). I had a cheeseburger & fries. I will admit that the presentation again was lacking... but once I took a bite into this burger I was quite impressed! The burger was cooked to a perfect medium rare and had a great char flavor, was fully dressed on a soft toasted bun - old skool style.... The string fries were plentiful as well. Overall a perfect dive bar experience! Are there fancier, better burgers out there? Yes! But at this price point (under $6 including a draft beer) I doubt you can beat this deal... Ellen @ the bar is a very friendly and efficient ambassador for the Drunken Clam as well! She keeps your glass full, treats customers as friends and is quick with a smile... All in all a great lunch stop that has been overdue... I...

This is a must go'to beach bar. Inside and outside seating available. The floor leans a bit which adds to the ambiance.
Four of us enjoyed reasonably priced cocktails served quickly and proficiently by one or the other bartenders. Both were pleasant and ensured we had a good time.
We ordered the Big Hot Dog (Chicago style with chili), Beach Burger (1/2# with lettuce, tomato & onion), 2-piece Big Fish Fry (hand battered filet served with coleslaw, French fries & tartar sauce and Breaded Fried Clam Strips w/fries. All of the food was decent bar food but the fish fry was the best that day. (Sorry for not posting any pictures except for the clams which I enjoyed). The food was served hot and in a timely fashion. One day soon we will stop in for breakfast.
Four stars was for the overall old time Florida experience, reasonably priced drinks and good service. As mentioned above, the bar food was tasty but not the reason to go back. But go back we will.
On-site free parking is...
