I don’t know how anybody could leave anything more than 1 star for this place… do not waste your money here. First off, my experience started with their very unenthusiastic, rude, unprofessional host, Karen. I called to check for availability and was greeted with a grumpy, “Compass Grill”. I asked about availability for two and was told “Not right now, we’re packed and I only have one server” So I asked, “okay… when would you have availability..” and she said “I don’t know, maybe in an hour.” I then hung up and made a reservation online 30 mins after the call. When we arrived l, the restaurant had 4 tables in it and 4 bar guests. (Not “packed”). We were greeted by the same grumpy Karen who took us to our table. Indeed, there was only one server (!?) who was very nice and good at her job thankfully. (You go Caitlin!). However, the drinks were awful… what I would expect to get at a downtown trashy bar, not this nice, on the beach, hotel restaurant. We continued on with dinner anyway and the Cesar salad was fine, can’t mess that up. Then we were served some rolls, that I literally banged on the table and you could hear it from miles away. The rolls were cold and hard as a rock. Why even bother serving those? Our $40 filet and $25 pasta came out next. The “filet” was literally worse quality than a Publix flank steak. It was dry, chewy, and not cooked to temperature either. We frequent steak houses and I am 100% sure that was not filet. The veggies it came with were cold and still tasted like the probable can it came out of. The pasta sauce was good but the chicken fully resembled and tasted like the frozen bags of precooked, pre-sliced Tyson chicken from the grocery store. Disgusting. Appalling. As embarrassing as it was, I had to involve the manager. I was NOT about to pay over $100 for this birthday dinner when the food was that low quality. She thankfully removed the entrees and we payed for what we consumed so we could appropriately tip Caitlin, who was having to serve and bartend for the entire restaurant. Horrible experience. This is St. Pete Beach. Whoever owns Compass Grill, DO BETTER. Fire the host, hire more servers, and teach your kitchen staff how to cook. If you’re going to charge those prices for the menu, stop going to the Walmart frozen section and invest in appropriate ingredients. We would have had better luck at a...
Read moreDon't let the marketing fool you. We reserved there for father's day dinner as their site says beach front and the menu looked really good. 1st on their site it says it's beach front. There is absolutely no view of the beach anywhere in this restaurant, not even a window that faces the water. We had a lovely view of the garbage dumpsters. 2nd, the place looks closed, stacked chairs, mostly empty dining room, there were 4 tables the 2.5 hours we were there. 3rd- the menu on their website is not the menu they served, there were at least 5 items left off. ie grouper, scallops, some key things you'd want on the beach. 4th- No staff, no bartender, 2 servers and ours seemed like a busboy they let take tables. Nice, but no idea what he was doing. It took 30 mins to get drinks and over an hour to get food. He didn't know how to separate checks. but he had already ran our cards so.... We did try to get in somewhere else once we realized the restaurant was not as described but being father's day we were not able to get in anywhere else without a reservation. So we were stuck. We didn't say anything at the time as by the time we were done it was 10pm and we and our baby all just wanted to leave. I went to the front desk of the Sirata the next day to speak to a manager and what I got was a sorry from the front desk and they'd let the marketing and food and beverage manager know.
So here's an update. Not only was this our experience but 2 of our credit card charges changed when they finalized. One of our party was billed over $300 when his part of the check and the charge he signed for was just over $100. I left messages for the food and beverage manager and accounting department but no one returned my calls. My friend was left to disputing the charge with his bank as the hotel/ restaurant chose not to fix their mistakes. Mistakes happen but No effort to fix them is pathetic. Book anywhere else other than the Compass Grill at...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars I would. We eat at an establishment usually twice before judging. Stuff happens, chef sick, waiter new, etc....which results in usually a bad scenario. We went twice to Compass Grille at Sirata hotel. Each time this place was TERRIBLE. The waiter (same each time) was one of the most rude, inconsiderate I've ever experienced and we eat out 1-2 times per day every day for the last 25 years. The food: Each time the portions were almost child sized. (My wife and I are both under 145 lbs. We do not eat much and almost always have leftovers) A side of vegetables consisted of 2 small carrots, 2 green beans, 5 onion strings and 1 slice of red pepper. About 3 bites.... During our "early Bird" visit, I got the steak which literally had 1/4 of it being gristle and slight amount of fat. The "Steak" had been pounded into "tender" submission. My medium steak was almost well done. My wife got a shrimp entree (can't remember the exact name) It was presented in a plate that had a small cup size indent in the middle. Only the middle contained the "entree" of shrimp with a majority of bland pasta. Dessert??? No thanks, probably a 7-11 ice cream sandwich for 8$. :-) Only at the end when presenting check and hoping for a great tip, did the waiter have a smile. STAY AWAY... AGAIN STAY AWAY. Not worth the early bird prices LET ALONE the standard full...
