The universe aligned to give us this great experience. Traveling with family, and based on Google's 95%match recommendation and likening Brick & Mortar to Butcher and the Bee(Nashville) and Woodberry Kitchen (Baltimore), we dropped in without reservations. On a busy Saturday night. Willing to combine tables, they were able to seat us inside. My mom wanted to enjoy the perfect weather and sit outside, which was unavailable. We thanked them for their willingness to move tables to accommodate us and walked out. At the end of the outdoor seating were two double tables, and because of their prior offer to help, I walked back in and asked the same host if it would be possible to combine those tables outside... she explained they were reserved and for a friend of the manager. I said thanks and before I left, the host said "love your shirt, I've got the tatoo". Yesterday, my mom bought me a John Varvatos T with an embroidered Peace sign that I happen to have worn today. The host turned her wrist to show a peace sign tattoo. We high fived, said "peace "and I was out. Mom and brother asked what the status was and as we walked away, I said the table was reserved for a friend and then told her about the t shirt... we were past the restaurant when a guy sitting at the last table said hey you guys can sit here. We thought he meant they were leaving but he pointed to the empty reserved table. I told him it was reserved and he said he's the owner, got up and moved the other table from across the sidewalk to combine The owner who is usually in the kitchen and his wife who usually runs the place, were dining at their restaurant during a few days of vacation... we joked it must be good if that's where they eat when on vacation and thanked him for the generosity and customer centric action. We ordered the Truffle Fries, Snapper Cevice, Beef Carpaccio, a Gambas dish, and the Fettuccini with crispy mushrooms. Every dish was remarkable! Not good, perfect! Portions were generous, home made, innovative, exquisitely presented, and delicious! We could not have had a better meal. Right around the time our first dish was served, a couple came up to the owner and exchanged hugs. It was their table they gave us. They brought out another table and set it for their friends. That is service on another level! Thank you Brick & Mortar for setting the bar for overall restaurant experience. Simply brilliant...

The food is nothing short of exceptional. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor, clearly made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The menu is creative yet approachable, offering a refined take on American cuisine with global influences. We had the short rib gnocchi and the seared scallops—both were cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. The flavors were well-balanced, and the portions were just right. Even the appetizers and desserts were unforgettable—especially the beet salad and their decadent flourless chocolate cake.

Read moreWow...this was a GREAT find!! My fiance and I were going to a concert a few evenings ago and stopped here for dinner beforehand based on the reviews I saw on Yelp. One thing I will say as a caveat is be prepared for a little bit of "sticker shock" because the prices are a bit high but I will say, the food was AMAZING! So amazing that I didn't take any pictures...sorry! We had the mushroom flatbread for an appetizer and it was fantastic. I had the B&M burger, AWESOME and my fiance had the short ribs and polenta, OUT OF THIS WORLD! We were so full that we didn't have room for dessert but I will say their bread pudding looked amazing and big enough for 2 to share. Why 4 stars?? I would have given it 5 stars all the way around because even our waiter was awesome! The 4 stars is because of a tall and thin lady that works there with sandy blonde hair...not sure if she was a waitress or the owner but she kept staring at us and giving us unfriendly glances the whole time we were there. I am white and my fiance is Hispanic. I'm not necessarily saying it was a race thing but she definitely didn't like us and made it very apparent the whole time we were there. She had "attitude." Maybe it was just that she didn't think we "belonged there?!?" Whatever it was, she needs to clean up her attitude for paying customers! If the owner reads this...talk to your staff about being more friendly and courteous to your patrons and I can promise this place will be hugely successful. The food was amazing so obviously you have an amazing chef and kitchen staff. I have been in customer service management for years and the attitude of some of your staff was not...
