I was born in the bird. And 57 years later I am happy to have read the story about the murial at the State Theatre. It was a professionally beautiful job. I thought. I saw the band Creed there in 1986 when they were still a small band. There were 6 acts that night. To the owners credit. He always tried to provide good groups. Great entertainment for the locals in the city. They were at one time part of Jannus Landing whenit was 1st. Owned. I saw Sevendust, Disturbud, 1st rate band at a price that was affordable. I was never afraid to be alone. And they had strick rules about wearing certain clothes. Or throwing up gang signes. It wasn't permitted. It was a real nice place to hear a good band that I considered 1st rate. I hope that now that's it's remodeled. I think it's great to use local talent as good as that was. It was always easy to find. I never had a bad time there. I think 1 saw probably 50 acts that I would have paid more to see. But the coolest part is it was a smaller setting and really, really nice. I hope the new owner follows threw and let's people who have as good a quality as was there before, to put their stamp (so this speak) on a really great part of our community. I think the more we are allowed to have a screen to put beautifully talentented work on by local people. It makes it about us as a community. I will be in St. Petersburg forever and I cast a vote if I can. To spread a beautiful murial on a beautiful building. It was actually Rutland Bank. Owned by Mr. Hubert Rutland. I was an 18 year old waitress at a nearby breakfast and lunch cafeteria. And he brought alot of the Banking people with him to eat Lunch. There have been some of the most wonderful and down to earth people in St. Pete all my life. I'm proud to call it home and id be even prouder if the people that did the 1st murial were allowed to continue. In my opinion it adds...
Read moreI go to the State Theater to see a lot of shows. Great venue first of all. Went to see Pink Floyd Laser Show on Aug.18,2017. When I go to see/hear Pink Floyd I don't expect to see pictures of dead men lying in a row and politics on the screen. If I wanted to watch the news I would have stayed home.Do you ever preview the show first before showing it to the audience? I wasn't the only one that was shocked to see this . People all around us were disgusted and disappointed that the State Theater would show this during what's supposed to be about The Dark Side of the Moon album. I understand that some of the music pertains to Money/Govt. but People fighting to death and showing bodies? Come on owners/management. What people want is to come and relax, not...
Read moreMaybe I'm naive, but when Ticketmaster said "General Admission", I did not understand they meant "No Seating". I saw some reviews that said there was seating in the balcony so I was hopeful that if I arrived early, I'd be OK. NOPE. My ticket said showtime was 7 P. M., but they didn't even open the doors until after 7. Then word was showtime was 8 PM, but that was wrong too. The staff wasn't friendly or helpful, they said the balcony was closed even though I expressed a need... they just offered to sell me alcohol. The opening act didn't start playing until around 8:30. The act I went to see was outstanding beyond compare, but the State Theater is...
