I would not currently recommend this hotel at this price point until renovations have been completed and amenities are operational. I frequently travel for work (45 plus nights a year) and usually prefer staying at Marriott brand hotels because the chain is consistent and clean. There is a lot of construction underway at the hotel, which was not publicized on Marriott’s website, there was no hot water during our three day stay and the hotel pool was closed. We chose this hotel specifically because it is a Marriott and had an indoor pool. Pictures of the pool are on the website and there is no notice about the pool being closed or the construction is online. I have three children that enjoy swimming when we are vacationing so it was a major disappointment for them. We were contemplating staying at the Vinoy but because the pool is outside decided this hotel was a better choice. We made the most of it and went to the pier several times but again we paid for a hotel with amenities that could not be used. As mentioned above, there is a lot of construction and equipment is left unattended which could be a safety hazard and it was very loud, messy and disruptive. We were woken up early in the morning by the sound of hammering. Also, a side door to the hotel on a side street was propped open and a hotel room door (room 717) was also propped open for over 24 hours. These doors being left open concerned me because it is a safety issue. Elevators were operable without key cards. Someone could walk in and use the elevator. It’s not safe. You’d think in 2023 the hotel would be more aware and have better safety measures. We also did not have hot water. When we reported this, the front desk questioned whether we turned the shower knob all the way to hot. The front desk sent an engineer to the room who told us the hotel is well aware of the hot water issue and that they’ve received several complaints. Three nights without hot water is not ok (especially at the rate we paid). There were also small little things - despite the renovations the rooms are outdated. The elevator is also very slow moving and there does not appear to be a staff elevator so the staff / construction workers use the elevator. We waited 15 minutes one day for the elevator after calling it. These things are minor - the lack of hot water, the construction and no pool really made it a disappointing experience. Had we been made aware I would have stayed elsewhere. There are many other hotels in the area. Consider staying elsewhere.

We had a GREAT stay because of the team and the cleanliness of the rooms. I was apprehensive about this location because of the reviews and age, but after staying at one of the "trendy" other Marriotts in the area the following week, THIS is the one I'd go with again. We got a Bonvoy upgrade to a suite. I didn't expect much, but it was BIG (like a double-room), light, and clean. Without the upgrade, the room is a decent size. The staff is a standout. We ran across Payton Parker while on the trip. She's a sales manager for the hotel, professionally dressed, but we found her helping other staff by cleaning tables. 👏🏻 We spoke for a few minutes. She clearly loves her work and the company. She's positive and interested in hearing feedback. The team overall is friendly and happy to help. This is an older property, but it's actually a historical landmark with "Pennsylvania Hotel" still on the side to represent its history. The carpets looked relatively new. The furniture isn't new, but all was in very good condition. I think the age is a selling-point, actually. There's a beautiful old church with stained glass windows right on the other side of the street. Valet parking is expensive, as mentioned, just as with the other Marriott a few blocks away. However, at this "old" hotel, it's set up so that you can just text a number and the car is there within 5 minutes. The other "new" location didn't have that working. On top of that, getting the car here was MUCH faster. (The valet company needs to make a couple of changes though - the guys out there need fans or something. It's way too hot.) So, the negative 2 points are an easy fix. I didn't see anyone in the hot, humid indoor pool. It's too dated and really has no need to be there soaking up budget. IMO, the fitness room needs a major revamp. For weights, one rickety, old bench (that has very poor back support) with a single rack of dumbbells is SO insufficient. They need some machines. Take out the pool, Turn that HUGE space into 1/2 conference room and the rest a big, beautiful workout room. SO, hopefully this gives a bit more context for those who are having trouble deciding.

Excellent Check-In Experience with a Friendly and Helpful Front Desk Agent

Introduction: I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Courtyard Marriott St.Pete, and I must say that my check-in experience was exceptional. The front desk agent's warm demeanor and willingness to assist me right from the moment I arrived made a lasting impression on me. Here, I would like to share my wonderful experience with you.

Efficiency and Professionalism: Upon arrival at the hotel, I was promptly greeted by the front desk agent, who displayed an exceptional level of professionalism. Katrina’s efficiency in handling the check-in process was commendable, as she swiftly verified my reservation details without any delays. Despite a busy lobby because they were other people checking in after 4pm with us she remained calm, ensuring that each guest received personalized attention. As well as offering us bottle water. I personally think this was going above and beyond as for traveling long distance and to wait for rooms which did not take long. Just had to verify with the housekeeping department.

Warm and Welcoming Attitude: What truly stood out during my check-in experience was that Katrina’s genuinely warm and friendly attitude and that huge smile of hers. She greeted me with a genuine smile and made me feel welcome from the very beginning. Her hospitable demeanor instantly put me at ease and created a positive first impression of the hotel.

Attentiveness and Personalized Service: She also paid close attention to my needs and preferences, ensuring that my stay would be nothing short of comfortable. She took the time to inquire about my preferences for room location, amenities, and any special requests I might have had. Her genuine interest in providing personalized service made me feel valued as a guest.

Helpful Recommendations and Information: In addition to her friendly demeanor, Katrina and Diana also proved to be incredibly knowledgeable about the hotel's amenities and local attractions. They provided me with useful recommendations for nearby restaurants, transportation options, and popular tourist spots. Their insights were invaluable in helping me plan my itinerary and make the most of my stay.

Overall Impression: My check-in experience at the Courtyard Marriott downtown st.pete was undoubtedly one of the best I've had. The front desk agent's helpfulness, warmth, and professionalism made a significant impact on my overall impression of the hotel even tho there was construction going on,which such attentiveness that did not matter anymore. Their dedication to ensuring a seamless and personalized check-in process truly set the stage for a memorable stay.

In conclusion, I highly recommend courtyard Marriott for its outstanding check-in experience. The front desk agent's exceptional service, friendly attitude, and attention to detail made me feel like a valued guest from the moment I arrived. I sincerely hope that others have the opportunity to experience the same level of...

As long time Marriott Bonvoy Gold members we have with rare exceptions, been pleased with the Marriott properties at which we have stayed, including Courtyard by Marriott. Our twentieth anniversary trip to St. Petersburg was sadly one of those exceptions. The facility is under renovation and will likely be a fine property when the renovation is completed. The staff is wonderful and hopefully that will not change. But it is unconscionable that the facility is charging its full rates during the renovation. And you will not be forewarned before booking that you are facing a less than fully functioning facility. When we arrived to a dark lobby (it was on old hotel adopted by Courtyard) we noted that the Bistro, which is featured on the Website and the Bonvoy app was gone, under renovation. Getting on the elevator, which barely held a luggage cart we noted that floors 2,3 and 4 (of the 7 total) were not accessible due to the renovation. And our floor, 5 consistently smelled of paint. And, of course, the larger more modern elevator (in the newer building section) was not accessible from the lobby (and was being used by the construction crews. The hotel did offer breakfast (eggs, bacon, potatoes and packaged baked goods and some fruit and yogurt, served with plastic utensils on paper plates in the dark lobby. Unlike most Marriott properties this facility offers only basic cable (with Cinemax and not HBO as pomised). But that didn't matter for the first 326 hours as there was no cable. The "high speed internet" was abysmally slow, about 10% of the speed I could wireless get from my cell carrier in the room. The rooms are small (there was a space of 12 to 13 inches between the side of the bed and the wall, and the furnishings, while modern and clean incude a sofa in an oval shape which makes sitting for any period of time impossible. Tack on the $25 per day fee for parking (there is no real option for on street parking) and this becomes a pricey stay. And in response to our complaints (as suggested by Marriott Bonvoy Customer Service) the property management did nothing for us. Given that there is a new Marriott property (the AC hotel close by) we will not be staying at the Courtyard again when we next...
