Morean Glass Studio — Attraction in Saint Petersburg

This free-entry glass studio and shoppe offers the unique works of several glass artists for sale and just viewing. Today, several people said, "I want them all!" The highlight of the studio is the 30 minute glass blowing demonstration. The artist prepares an item from start to finish and you can purchase this recently-crafted item right after it cools off--or you can purchase creations by the artist in the shoppe. Two Wheel chair access restrooms with grab bar, one of which is slightly blocked by a donation box, but the second one is accessible. My mother treated my 12-year-old daughter to the Personal Glass Experience at Morean Glass Studio, and it was truly unforgettable. My daughter has been wanting to try glassblowing for years, and this experience exceeded every expectation. Harry, the master glassblowing artist, went above and beyond to make it special. He was patient, encouraging, and made sure my daughter not only participated but learned and created something amazing. She was able to do several steps independently, which absolutely blew my mind. ogether, she and Harry crafted a beautiful piece that we’ll cherish forever. She said it was the best day of her life — and as a parent, there’s nothing better than seeing that kind of joy. Being able to experience glass blowing up close and personal is probably one of the coolest things I’ve watched to date! This is your sign to go if you haven’t or are debating.

We originally went to see the Chihuly Collection across the street and discovered you can attend the free glass blowing demo with the admission ticket. And they have demos every hour on the hour so it was easy and obvious to go.

There were two glass blowers in the demonstration- one doing the actual heavy lifting and the other explaining what was going on. Glass blowing is an entire art of its own and it’s so fascinating. I thought they did a great job educating the crowd on different methods and why you do things certain ways.

You can then shop around and purchase other glass pieces made by the very glass blowers who were in the demo. It’s really such a cool operation and I’m really glad I accidentally stumbled upon it. It’s so different from most experiences...
