I have lived in St. Petes since 1974. I have eaten BBQ at MANY establishments and the famed Rib Fest every Year. I had visited Big Tims years ago. Recently went back for the 1st time in years on a Sat. eve, telling my fiance that Big Tims was a St Pete icon for BBQ. My girl likes Sonny's BBQ , but I convonced her to try BT's. We got the 1/2 slab of ribs for $13 (incl tax). The girl working there said it was enough for two people. We got home and opened the carton and were TOTALLY DISAPPONTED in the small size of the ribs... really only enough for one person and neither of us are BIG eaters..plus we had no sides with the ribs. There was little meat on the ribs ..anmd they appeared to bve the cheaper country style ribs that I can buy fork $1.99 /lb at the store..except these were small compared to those ribs. They also didnt have that pink color ribs usually have..suggesteing thet were boiled and charcoaled but NOT SMOKED! . They were smothered in sauce ..we however prefer sauce on the side. The ribs were DRY DRY DRY and TOUGH AS LEATHER! The sauce had way too much mustard in it...NOT the typical BBQ sauce. OK,,sauce is a matter of taste..son we wiped off the saice and used Sweet Baby Rays.,,which is a Hell pof alot BETTER than Big Tims Sauce! It occurred to me why I had only been back once in 38 yrs !!! the RIBS WERE BAD BAD BAD!!! I can make better ribs in a skillet at home! My Advice; STAY AWAY!! TRY BIFF BURGER...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe had the absolute pleasure of having House of Mama Dās cater our companyās Juneteenth celebration, and it was nothing short of phenomenal. From start to finish, the experience was seamless, and the food was the one of the highlights of the event.
We enjoyed a soulful spread that included chopped chicken, ribs, mac n cheese, collard greens, baked beans and peach cobblerāeach dish was a hit! The chopped chicken was tender and flavorful, the ribs were fall-off-the-bone delicious (that house sauce was DELISH), and the mac n cheese was creamy, cheesy, and perfectly baked. The collard greens had that authentic Southern flavor, the baked beans were rich and savory with just the right touch of sweetness, and the peach cobbler was the perfect sweet endingārich, nostalgic, and made with love.
We are still raving about the food, and many went back for seconds (and thirds!). House of Mama Dās brought not just a meal, but a sense of community and tradition that truly honored the spirit of Juneteenth.
Highly recommend them for any event where you want to serve food that warms the heart and soul. Thank you, Mama Dās, for making our...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was our 1st time dining experience. We had the pork sandwich & a pork dinner. The pork sandwich not only was piled high with tender smokey barbeque that my BF actually ate around the sandwich before he could get his man size hands around the warm fresh sandwich roll itself. The fries were shoestring cut crispy hot absolutely no salt needed to be added they were perfectly prepared. Coleslaw was fantastic and cold. The flavor combination was to die for. This was one of the best barbeque sauces I have ever had. I will say I'm a fan of Connie's mustard sauce. Though I'm going to tell you as we walked to our car after dinner completely full an satisfied, we both made the comment to each other that the smokey flavor was still lingering on our tastebuds. Outstanding barbeque! Outstanding customer service! This might of been our 1st time, but rest assured it won't be our last. The price for our dinner for 2 fit right into our dining out budget that we've already discussed what we will be trying on our next visit. Kudos to the Chef! Thanks for an outstanding Sunday evening dinner. 09/27/2015 S....
