Overall I give the food a 3.4 here. Started with chips and salsa (restaurant style), mediocre in my opinion. However, they will bring you unlimited refills on both chips and salsa for free. Next, ordered chori nacho’s for an appetizer and it was the best thing I tasted there. Loaded with tasty chicken, flavored chorizo, jalapeños (not spicy), and a creamy cheese sauce, it was packed with different flavors dancing on my tongue. Highly recommend! For my entree I ordered tacos de carnitas. White corn tortillas were soft and hot but offered little flavor. The pork was over cooked and dry lacking juices and flavor. The tomatillo sauce really helped elevate the dish as it provided much needed flavor and really brought together the meal. Lastly, the red rice was very bland, unseasoned, and very disappointing. The service was also almost nonexistent as we waited extended periods of time for things like napkins, hot sauce, and drinks. They did manage to bring the bill incredibly fast once asked. The atmosphere could have been elevated with cultural music playing over speakers, but that could just be me nitpicking. In my opinion it is not authentic Mexican food, however, it is still worth a try given the other Mexican restaurants in the area. Would recommend lowering food expectations slightly...
Read moreEDIT: I went back in early 2024 and gave this place another chance, and I'm really glad I did, because they made some big changes and it's now a really good restaurant! Chips and salsa are fresh and tasty and all the food we've tried has been really good! I have changed my review from 1 star to 4.
I really wanted to like this place. Hopefully they can pull it together, because I don’t think they’ll last like this. As others have said, the salsa is bland and the chips have a dirty oily taste. Some in our basket were charred, and it seemed to be several types mixed together. Also as others have said, our server, Michael, kept coughing or clearing his throat repeatedly. He was wearing a mask but had it pulled down so all the coughs weren’t covered. The hostess, however, was great. The food was just OK. Pork carnitas were very greasy. I got the wrong size margarita, which was super tiny. When the bill came, we were charged for NINE drinks instead of two. Coughing server fixed that right up for us, but other reviews mention mistakes on the bill, so be sure to check.
Overall, a disappointing dinner. If you’re going to spend $60 on dinner, you at least want a good experience...
Read moreI’m not sure where other reviewers ate, but the food is DELICIOUS. I had the chimichangas, one beef and one chicken, and they were amazing.
The food in the rest of the group was delicious as well. The white queso had a great flavor, and the salsa tasted homemade (it had actual small pieces of onion). Pricing was about what I expected, but in my opinion, you shouldn’t eat out if you are expecting anywhere to be “cheap.” Those days are over, at least for right now.
Our waiter was pleasant, polite, and friendly. We had a small issue with our bill that they apologized for profusely, but I don’t get overly excited about that kind of stuff. When I eat out, I expect things to take more time than it used to because of staff shortages, but our food was still quick.
This place isn’t El Jimador or El Cabrito, and I’m glad for that. If I wanted El Jimador, or El Cabrito, both of which are also delicious, I’d go to one of those locations. You can’t compare the three places because they’re not alike.
Does the place have kinks to work out because they’re new? Sure. Most places do when they’ve just opened; however, they have a lot of promise.
Overall, I’d...
