El Jimador Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Saint Robert

The food was okay, the place was nice, our waiter was awesome no complain on that but the reason I am giving them a two star was because I felt I was being talked down and I felt discriminated because I was a Hispanic women that would not speak Spanish and that my son that is 4 years old would not speak Spanish either.. this was my first time in that town, I am from Houston Texas and I was there for a military graduation. My son was belittled and kinda talked down because he would not speak Spanish or say thank you in spainsh. My son is half white and half Hispanic and he is only 4 YEARS OLD. But for the person in the front of the restaurant that has the key for the toys machine to tell my son, if you would talk Spanish you would of got the toy for free but like he could only say thank you in English he was only going to get one ring for free and no refund on all the quarters that he had wasted in that machine. I am sorry but I speak Spanish and Hispanic and for another Hispanic to talk like that to my son I felt discriminated and a little annoyed about that... I am sorry but we are in the United States of America and if my son doesn’t know Spanish then I don’t think that there is nothing wrong with that and I don’t need another Hispanic to talk to my son like that. That same day my cousin forgot her credit card there and when we called to go get it. One of the Hispanic males that works there told her that she had to wait till 5pm for the manager to get there or if she would ask him in Spanish language he could do an exception and give her the card. What kind of business does this. I am sorry but if I would ever go back I would refuse to eat in this place that would discriminate and talk down to Hispanic if we don’t talk back to...

The service is great and they are very friendly- hence the two stars. The food is not good. I ordered cheese enchiladas. I make enchiladas. That’s not what these were. I received two tortillas that had been filled with shredded cheese, placed on a plate, covered with gravy, with a side of rice and beans added and then put under a super hot warmer. When the plate came out it was extremely hot. The beans had run all over the plate into everything the rice was crunchy on top, and the “enchiladas” had charred cheese on top but still had cold, unmelted shredded cheese inside. I also had a salad plate that had been put under the same warmer. I burned my hand grabbing it because I didn’t expect my salad plate to be hot. Hot lettuce. That alone took a star from my review. Their rice is actually good once you get passed the crunchy parts. I feel like if they put more thought into how they handled the food and sent it to the tables, it would be pretty good. It’s too bad because every town needs a really good Mexican restaurant. This ain’t it. This is our second time to come here after moving back to the area. We gave them a second chance. I think we will make our own Mexican food from now on and save our trips out to eat for something else. El Jimador owners and staff- are you eating the food you are serving? I see the pics posted online. I don’t see entrees floating in runny beans or charred rice. It looks nice. You post those pictures to bring customers in. You survived the pandemic. Reward your patrons with food that is as carefully prepared as the pictures...

I have been going to El Jimador in St Robert since 2006 I have never called in and complain about a order ever on the 1st I called in and place my order with someone who couldn't speak English very well he got mine and my daughter's order messed up nothing we ordered was correct so I call down there to talk to them to see if we can get it made right he hung up on me like 3 times my phone calls after where not answered..so I called in on Sunday to see if I can get a different person I did they told me to call back today and speak to the manager I did this man called me a liar saying that my order was correct this isn't the guys that I usually talk to who takes my orders I've never been hung up on never had an order messed up as bad as that was I never thought they would treat any of their customers this way yes the food is good if its what you ordered and made the way you like it i have food from them that i did order and i have it still in my refrigerator.... I just never thought I would be talked to like that and be called a liar be hung up on talking to the managers or you're with me telling me that my order was right when she wasn't even there to know if my order was right unbelievable they must be Under New Management or something cuz I've never had anyone ever that is so bad...
