If you're at the Salem Center Mall and craving delicious Chinese cuisine, look no further than Chinese Cafe! This little gem in the food court has quickly become one of my favorite spots, and for good reason.

The Orange Chicken is an absolute standout! It boasts perfectly crispy chicken pieces that are coated in a sweet and tangy orange sauce. Every bite is bursting with flavor, and it's the perfect balance of sweetness and zest. I could eat this dish every day!

Equally impressive is the General Tso’s Chicken. The tender chicken is enveloped in a rich, slightly spicy sauce that is simply addictive. The combination of flavors is phenomenal, and it pairs perfectly with a side of fluffy rice.

The service is always friendly and efficient, making it easy to grab a satisfying meal even during the busiest mall hours. The atmosphere is lively, and you can feel the energy of the bustling food court while enjoying your meal.

This restaurant has the appeal of a quick tasty lunch- however they have a con set up with the workers. When I ordered a small plate clearly listed on the menu, I saw the server filling a HUGE plate of food. I corrected her to say I only wanted orange chicken w/ 1 side. She said "oh don't worry, this is one side." I repeated, "That is a LOT of food, are you sure it is just one side?" She again confirmed it was chicken w/ 1 side of chow mein....then proceeded to charge me double and said I ordered a full plate of chow mein. She argued with me incessantly, and stated they don't serve any plates with just one side. She refused to reduce the portion and give me a smaller amount of a lower price. I tried to leave without paying or taking the food, but she said I touched the tray and had to pay. Due to needing to get back to work ASAP and not wanting to cause a scene, I agreed to pay but will NEVER go there again and will warn everyone I know about this TERRIBLE lying restaurant. Not to mention, the food...

15-20 years ago this establishment was a 5/5. The food was great. The prices were very reasonable. Service was fast and friendly. They always overstuffed my to-go orders.

Fast forward to 2018. For dishes primarily consisting of dirt cheap items at your local grocer (rice, chicken, vegetables like corn/peas/lettuce) they are EXTREMELY over-priced. I've watched as the containers gradually got smaller, and now the portions barely fill half of these small boxes. I remained a loyal customer for years as I've watched the employees grow. I just can't justify coming here any more when China Buffet is a buck more. I may stop by out of both nostalgia and hope that they've returned to their former glory.

I understand rent increases. But when you're cutting back rice? The filler? Come on guys. Step it up or relocate. I'll follow you if you do.
