Need to fix their name on Google. Was given a gift card for La Hacienda Real which had this restaurants address on it as one of it's locations. The names even both have Hacienda in them. Plus when you look them up on Google it takes you to this location on Google. To people who aren't as familiar with the history of businesses for every commercial building in Salem, Oregon , this would suggest that they are the same chain. I mean if you a new business taking over a building from the previous business owners, you may want to not make your name so close or at least let your patrons know they are different places with a sign by your register or front door. Especially since you've been open for about a year. That way when someone comes in with a gift card for the previous business, which was purchased 2 months prior to patronage, they don't find out that you don't accept their gift card that has YOUR address on it and practically the same name while also both being Mexican Restaurants. I'm surprised that with La Hacienda Real selling gift cards with your address on them for a year that this is first time you've had this happen. The way I was told "It's not our problem" when obviously a customer feels like their being manipulated out of a gift card and is refusing to pay full payment out of pocket, definitely is your problem. The bill was $57.50and our gift card was for $50 value. I left $8.00 cash and the gift card. 50¢ is the tip for trying to rip me off and asking for me to hand over my ID for 24 hours until l can pay the remaining $50. This is a problem I hope you fix. I had to be so hard cause fair is fair. You did not take adequate steps in setting up your business online to let people know what business they are actually at. Please contact La Hacienda Real and tell them to stop selling gift cards with your address on it. Also if you give them the gift card I left back you'll probably get your $50 for the flavorless food that I never enjoyed one bite of and made me sick. All around worse experience I've ever had eating out. Ever! Ever Ever!...
Read moreRidiculous. The place closes at 10pm. And they refuse to serve a 3 member party at 9:34pm. Only take away, no dine in 26mins before closing. Guess they don't want customers to eat there after 9:30.
Another update (last week of Nov) : entered the restaurant at 9:32pm again last week. The lady at the counter yet again refused service stating "we close in 20 mins, do you want to take it home?". I'd given up but wanted to remind her that the time was clearly just 9:32pm. I showed my phone, smart watch, even the credit card pos machine that sits at the entrance. They all read 9:32pm. Then she stated that she is following a clock that it inside the kitchen. She went on to say that I cannot keep the restaurant open just for 1 person.
My question dear owner, this has happened thrice to me. I enter around 9:30pm (but no later than 9:36pm) on all three instances. I was reduced dine-in on all three occasions while the sign board outside clearly states that the restaurant closes only at 10pm. I don't see how turning customers away is going to help the business.
The polite thing to do is let the customer, trust that they respect your timings and leave on time. If they don't, remind them gently asking for last orders. There are a hundred ways to do this right. Lying about the time is not the way to do it.
I've visited this branch of LA Hacienda Real about 7 times, refused service 3 times. And yet, I visit the other 2 locations regularly, no problem. I'm eating at the west Salem one right now. But will never step into a restaurant that has shown me the door thrice and has...
Read moreI was immediately impressed with how quickly our chips and dips arrived along with waters and drinks. The salsa was great. Very tasty.
Our meals were with mixed reviews. I had the combination plate with my usual Chile Relleno and I tried the pork tostada. The relleno was terrible. It is supposed to be an entire poblano pepper filled with cheese, then lightly dipped in egg batter and deep-fried. Mine was a square piece of pepper with cheese on top and absolutely covered in egg batter. It was more like an omelet with a little bit of pepper and cheese. It was awful. I was highly disappointed. I was grateful to have had the tostada available to eat, though. The rest of our table ordered large plates that came with tortillas. The tortillas here used to be the best, so tasty. These flour tortillas were thick and bland. No flavor. That was also a little sad. The rest of the meals were okay. Lots of food, but just not as tasty as they were before the name change.
Lastly, I informed the waiter in the beginning whose birthday it was we were celebrating tonight, but nothing was done. No birthday wishes or singing, etc. We did hear another table where the birthday individual was celebrated by staff. Our waiter was nice and prompt, just likely forgot. That was a little bit disappointing. Unfortunately, we won't return. We'll make the trek to our Tried and True La hacienda Real...
