Good food, lacking in customer service.
I called in an order for Father's Day the Wednesday before, for a #4 Family Pack ($102+), a #1 Family Pack ($27+), and 12 cobblers ($3.29 each).
On Sunday, the lady at the register was nice, but didn't confirm my order before ringing me up. The amount came up to over $50 less than I was expecting. Right then I should have asked. Instead I paid then stepped aside to look at the receipt---only the #4 Family Pack was on there.
At first I went back in line to order the rest, but then I decided it'd probably be quicker to run by Dillion's & grab some pies, cold chicken, & macaroni salad, as it was busy. So far, plan B is ok, no worries.
When my food was packed up (into two bags), I saw & felt that one bag contained two boxes of meat, with buns on top, and the other had three quart size containers + a tiny container (which I assumed contained sauce), and buns on top. I realized the fries were missing. I politely got the guy's attention, and said I didn't think the fries were in there. He said they were. I said I didn't think so, because these are the three other sides, and there is no box of fries---he said, "I put them in a different container, trust me, they're in there."
This is where I wish I was the type of person who could rip open the tied bag & lay out the contents, because it was so obvious the fries weren't there, and he didn't want to help me.
Not a surprise, no fries, and what was a surprise--the little container did not contain sauce. It was a tiny salad. By this point I was already at our gathering spot. Not happy.
I went back later that evening to ask for reimbursement; they had closed early. Went back Monday in the afternoon when I figured it'd be slow. There was one customer in front of me, and I heard the cashier mention that she was taking over for the owner. Great, I thought, she'll help me with this issue.
I was received coldly, I felt. I explained that I hadn't received my fries, or any sauce, the day before. She said they could make the fries or I could get my money back for them. I chose the money option, as the gathering was already over. I saw $2.50 appear on the register--I asked if she needed to see the receipt, and held it up. She said she just needed the order #. She indeed gave me a $2.50 refund.
Honestly I was too stunned to speak. There was no apology (which I feel is basic customer service). And really, two dollars & fifty cents is all that two large fries cost? Really? I don't think so. It seemed really disrespectful. And she completely ignored the no sauce situation, which was a huge bummer for some in our group. She told me I could call over the phone next time this happens. It really seemed like she did not want to deal with me, and I was very polite.
As I turned to leave, she offered up a half-hearted "I'm sorry". I said, "It's ok, these things happen", when I was not ok, I just didn't feel I could speak my mind because I was upset.
I'm still not sure which was worse, the guy lying straight to my face about the fries, or the $2.50 exchange.

Read moreOpen face sandwich is fantastic. I go here multiple times a week. I love it! As someone who goes there a lot you can’t tell when good changes are happening. Do not listen to the one stars who rate every single restaurant they visit with a one star review. Those people can’t EVER be pleased. This place is clean, organized, the people are friendly and engaging. The food is always fresh. They seems to always have some one checking in on customers or cleaning the kitchen or the dine in area. Younger staff are always keeping themselves busy and that say something for whoever is running that place now. Best part is unlike Hickory Hut they don’t smother all you food in so much sauce and grease you can’t taste the meat. I mean we are old enough to add extra sauce if we need it. Smh. I’ll be back and I’ll keep going back no matter how many miserable trolls leave one stars. Great job hog wild keep it up....
Read moreWalked right in, waited 15 seconds before being told sorry, be right there. Another 10 seconds before he was ready to take my order, apologizing for the delay again (hah... 25 seconds? Didn't even know what I wanted to order yet).
After placing my order he literally ran to the back to start preparing it, and handed it over within a minute.
Now the food: portions are VERY generous. Beans are great, the meats are nearly up there with the best of them. Tender ribs, good brisket, above average pulled pork.
Now the (only) bad: bland Mac n Cheese. I strongly recommend you do not order Mac n Cheese and I strongly encourage Hog Wild Pit BBQ to change this up... Do something to this side dish, because it does your lineup no good. Add some bacon and green pepper or something... Or get better cheese, just do SOMETHING, because this is not worthy of charging...
