Iâm extremely disappointed with how Petco handled my grooming appointment.
This isnât about a missed time slot â itâs about misleading service listings, poor internal communication, and zero accountability when issues are escalated.
I booked âThe Worksâ grooming package for my dog Ruby online â a bath, de-shed, and haircut â as clearly listed on Petcoâs website. After booking, I received a message from a local team member saying they couldnât perform the service today and offered to reschedule. No problem â I said yes, as long as we could still get the full package I booked.
Then came the real issue: She followed up saying she didnât realize I needed a haircut â even though I booked it through Petcoâs own system. After that, I was told no haircut appointments are available until June 27. That information shouldâve been reviewed and disclosed before contacting me. Why offer an alternative date if youâre not confirming whether you can actually fulfill the booked services?
I then called Petco corporate to file a formal complaint. They couldnât reach a store manager or supervisor â no one answered. This clearly isnât just a local glitch â itâs a systemic failure in how Petco handles scheduling, staffing, customer communication, and escalation protocols.
Petco, if youâre going to offer professional grooming services online, then: Make sure your system reflects actual availability. Review the customerâs service request before calling them. Donât offer new dates unless youâve confirmed you can provide all requested services. Ensure your store leadership and corporate support teams are actually reachable.

   Read moreI had a appointment to get my dog groomed at Salina Petco on Sunday 3/24/24 at 1PM. They sent me a text to confirm the appointment it said in the text that they require 48 notice of cancellation. I confirmed the appointment. I then received a text message on the morning of the 24 reminding me of the appointment at 1PM. I get to the store go in the groomer room and waiting no one there. Finally some one from up front cam in the groomer room and said they are not doing any grooming today. I advised that I have a appointment at 1Pm. They then advised me they have no groomer today. This was a total wast of my time and gas. If they are taking appointments then they need to have some one there. And OH what about there 48 hour notice for cancelling the appointment. You must tell them 48 hours before but they just wait tell you wast your time and money to drive to there store then they tell you no groomer today. Way did you send me a text at around 9 am on the 24 to remind me of the appointment. Might have been nice to send me one cancelling the appointment.    Read moreSales person was very rude to my husband. My husband has a small fish tank and wanted to buy a cat fish and picosomus for the bottom of his tank. Also he wanted a few smaller fish. The sales man belittled him, told him that he was being cruel to these fish he was buying. He said the fishes eyes would bulge out and the fish would basically explode in the tank. Mind you my husband's had this tank for 15yrs. Mostly this salesperson was annoyed and put off that he had to do any work at all. By the way, my husband is 78 and also a veteran, never should have been treated this way. Also on an interesting note, I came back to the fish section a few minutes after my husband and started looking at the fish tanks. The salesperson said he'd be with me in a moment. He didn't know we were together, also I am 24 yrs younger than my husband. The salesperson person made faces, like rolling his eyes and other things when he saw me watching. After my husband left to go pay, the salesperson came over and tried to vent about that old man. I stopped âď¸ him right away and said that old man was my husband.
