I went to Caputo's today excited to find a deli nearby my neighborhood I just moved into. I ordered the mozzarella and tomato and I was truthfully SHOCKED about how stiff and hard the bread was. I worked an award winning deli in Denver, CO for a long time and we had daily fresh bread, so, when I took a bite into the sandwich...the only way I can truly describe how hard it was...would be by comparing it to gnawing on beef jerky. I'm not even exaggerating. My jaw was tired and sore from gnawing and attempting to chew through the bread. The portions are incredibly UNDERSIZED, OVERPRICED, and NOT delicious. Also the proportions of bread to the fillings was outrageous and all I could really taste was bread. So disappointed, there's not a way I could give it a 1 rating because it said it would be "Good"...definitely a 0 "Poor-Fair" quality. I think I paid $8.95 for a super SMALL sandwich and to get small bag of chips and a drink put me at like $11.50. I could've gone to Smith's or any food market, bought everything I needed for under that, and could've made 10 sandwiches. And it would've tasted a thousand times better. Avoid this place.
Why you can trust this review...I worked at Heidi's Deli in Denver, CO through college. (voted best deli for 6 years in a row. freshly baked varieties of bread daily. always fresh with huge portions and relatively...
Read moreThe food is really good, especially the Hot Pastrami and they sell lots of great products. The staff is pretty nice. The lack of cleanliness has scared me away through. It was just one incident but it made me realize they may not have the necessary systems, processes, and hiring standards for a clean and healthy environment. I witnessed one of the workers scrubbing grease, dirt, and possibly tiny bits of paint off of the ceiling directly above the grill, where they make the sandwiches. I saw all this gross stuff falling right down onto the grill. I asked if they were going to make my sandwich on that grill because I honestly did not know if that was the only grill. I was nice about it and used a friendly tone. They said yes but that they will scrape the grill off first. They were also nice. One of them took a metal scraper and did a quick scrape of about 50% of the grill, then immediately started cooking my sandwich. I was grossed out by this. They were not busy and there were three employees standing right by the grill. I was definitely expecting a deeper clean, consider how dirty the ceiling was. Next time you are in there look at the ceiling above the grill and imagine them scrubbing and washing that right before they make your sandwich. Imagine little bits of debris falling all...
Read moreLong Story Short. Purchased butter that was expired for months (didn't know till I got home which is 40 min away), tried to get a hold of the store, they don't pick up the phone, called the other Caputo's location, they gave me the Managers email, he never replied. Called the other Caputo's location again, they told me that the Manager would call me. He finally did, from his personal number, when I tried to call him back, he got upset at me for calling his personal number, the number he called me from, rather than the store number to talk to him again. He claimed that I was never charged for the butter, he said he would refund it anyways. Never received my refund for the butter and gave up trying because of his attitude and inability to want to provide good customer service for selling expired goods.
TL;DR If you have an issue at this location, just expect no resolve because of poor management.
Update to Caputos reply: the manager did tell me he would provide a full refund. I never received the refund. I even followed up with the manager 7 days later and never got an email back so I gave up trying to get a resolution...
