I’ve been here a few times and have had hit or miss service(generally miss, but it’s fast and close to the Fairmont Aquatic center), and I’ll rarely leave a negative review but today around 2:00 pm was absolutely horrible. I waited at the front counter to order with my niece while staff seemed busy attending to others, the cashier eventually came over to the register to do something but did not acknowledge us or even a simple “hello, we’ll be right with you”. Eventually a lady did come after over 5 minutes had passed and took my order. We sit down and wait and I notice there is a group of kids coming in so they are kinda busy prepping for that I guess. Our pizza was brought out to us and happened to be a pepperoni pizza when I specifically ordered an 18’’ cheese due to religious restrictions. Now I told the woman who brought the pizza out that I had ordered a cheese (she was the one who also took my order earlier) and she said she must have misunderstood it, so she looks around and says I’m just just gonna swap it with a cheese pizza that was out for the group of kids. I was a bit confused at what she meant and see her just swap out the wrong pizza she gave us for a cheese that had been out waiting for that group of kids for a while. The cheese pizza she gave us was stone cold, the kids with me were hungry so I let them eat and tried to wait to grab ahold of staff letting them know the pizza was cold and the situation was handled inappropriately. I was unable to grab a hold of ANYONE and opted to just leave. Stay away from this place if you are a person of color due to many times have felt staff were being racist or non prioritizing compared to the other costumers there. I will never visit an Este again...
Read morehaven't updated my monthly pizza blog in a while so I finally got back around to it, and it's time to spill the sauce, folks:
1.) Este Pizza - Really rebounded after a few months in the middle of the knot (the garlic knot lol). All jokes aside they have become the best pizza spot in the SLC area. The red sauce is exquisite and robust; combined with the wonderful 4 cheese blend gives every bite a nod to the forefathers of Italian pizza prestige.
2.) The Pie - The crust was nice and thick and the flavor was enticing, to say the least. The atmosphere isn't great, the interior just SCREAMED "How I Met Your Mother", and none of the good episodes, more like Season 8 Episode 6. Can you believe the frustration between Nick and Robin? Absurd!
3.) Pie Hole - Fair prices for good slices! Great job by the chef led to happy tastebuds. Up and coming place so Este and The Pie better watch their dough. I will NOT be shutting my /pie hole/ about this place haha!
4.) Free Wheeler Pizza - Mama mia that's-a decent pizza! The place looks like a diner they threw some tablecloths on and said "sort of a fancy restaurant, but we serve pizza". Make up your mind, do you want to be a pizza place that clings too desperately to the look of a restaurant or a restaurant that specializes in pizza and pizza-like foods? Try the calzone, it's low-calorie and quite good with a ranch dipping sauce.
5.) Big Daddy's Pizza - Overpriced and disappointed at the lack of big daddies. If they included more big daddies the name wouldn't be so misleading and the quality of the entire shop would likely improve. 2/5
Will be sending these newly revised rankings to my email chain. Until next...
Read moreI enjoy pizza, but this place is way above average. It's NOT "Just Another Pizza." The wood fired pizza was a light and crispy crust that was fluffy and soft inside.
The crust had a traditionally slightly salty flavor, but just the right hint of sweetness to it. It was a slice above. Lol get it slice above, pizza, haha.
The sauce. Great flavor, with balanced seasoning. No one seasoning over powered the other. Great fresh tomato flavor, with just the right size of tomato chunks in it.
Toppings... We'll we did a half and half. One side was a combo and the other was Lasagna.
I went for lasagna first and it was amazing. I was feeling like combo is sometimes a bunch of under or over cooked veggies and, well not really my thing. How about WOW! I have never had a combo I felt it was to die for! Ok that might be a little extreme, but man oh man, it was delicious. The veggies were well balanced and cooked just right. Fresh? Yes, very!
Both sides had sausage. It wasn't the typical sausage, it was sliced fresh Italian sausage. We'll done Este Pizza.
Atmosphere - Real cool vibe in this place. You can see the cool decals all over the partition and graffiti walls. Real cool art, and I'm not a graffiti buff. Open ceilings. Great music! Cool rock and roll 70's - Today. Heard some Stones, Halen, Sublime...
We came at an odd hour (pretty early for pizza). Really brunch for the 4 of us, they were just getting going.
As always, that was my/our experience! I can't implore you enough to give it a shot and post...
