I really enjoy the food. The customer service is definitely lacking. I think there are some opportunities to make it better.
I have been here a couple times and since COVID-19, I think management needs to make some changes to the way they are doing business. I understand that a business such as this depends entirely on their drive-thru for business, however, I take exception to being asked to park my car after I have paid for my food. The first time this happened to me, I went along with it. I ended up waiting 20 min for my food, while other cars passed on by with theirs. It left me with the feeling to not let that happen again. Today, there were three other vehicles that had been parked ahead of me. I was asked to park and when I asked why, the cashier didn't have an answer. I let her know I would just sit where I was at until my food was ready. The manager came to the window and informed me that if I didn't want to move, he would refund my money and added that I was not welcome back. Completely within their rights as a business to refuse service.
There are a couple problems with being asked to park, after paying for my meal. Since the dining room is closed and the drive thru window doesn't take walk-ups, I am pretty much at the mercy of when the restaurant wants to get me that order. Also, if there is a problem with my order, I have no recourse for fixing the problem. I would have to get back in the line of cars and then wait longer to get my order fixed. I think everyone knows what it feels like to get the wrong order, or to not get everything requested. Not at this location, but the Crown Burger on North Temple, they forgot about my order and 45 min later, someone came out and said my ticket had disappeared and they needed me to repeat what I had paid for so they could make it. Mistakes happen. It's part of life. That said, I try to avoid repeating them where I can.
I don't think it's an unreasonable response to decline to move my car forward, especially when there are other cars ahead of me. I think clearer heads should have prevailed in today's concern, but ultimately, I won't be going back to Crown Burger again. There is a sister restaurant, Apollo Burger. Same type of food, better service about 2 miles away on 1700 South.
Since I am leaving a comment, may also want to realize that while people are ordering, some of us also like to get the total cost of what we have just ordered at the speaker. Asking us to pull forward without telling us a total is kinda rude, especially when we ask for it. It's just...
Read moreVisiting SLC for the first time and Crown Burgers was on all the "must try" lists. It did not disappoint! We hit up this Crown Burgers on the evening we arrived. The gentlemen behind the counter was super helpful as he went over the menu with us. I got the signature Crown Burger which has smoked pastrami on it. The smokiness of the pastrami and the char-grilled flavor of the hamburger was a tasty combination. I appreciate that you can choose between American, Swiss, and Cheddar cheese for your burger. I asked for cheddar (because it's better). My wife had a cheeseburger, also with cheddar. Both burgers were excellent! We also shared a side of fries and a side of onion rings. The fries were cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside with just a little bit of salt. Don't forget the fry sauce! They use a corn batter for the onion rings, which was a surprise, but they were also very good.
The decor in this particular restaurant looks like it's been there since the place originally opened. Yes, it looks dated but in the best way, like a perfect time capsule. It has also been impressively maintained. The restaurant was very clean, including the restrooms. All the booths appeared to be in great condition despite their age, and the floors were shiny and clean.
If you are in the area and craving a burger, you can't...
Read moreWell, the Crown Burger is obviously what people want to go with! There is just something really delicious about throwing a heaping stack of pastrami on top of a hamburger patty. There is just one problem with it: I'm always tempted to stop by the bread store and buy good buns that are made out of good bread, take that into Crowns, and have them put their delicious fixings on my buns instead of theirs. My biggest complaint about restaurants, when they have a good burger or sandwich but they use bad bread. It's like they go and buy wonder bread on discount from a discount grocer before they end up clearing the shelves. It's horrible. Use good bread guys, and I would go in more than once a year. I've tried other items on their menu, and everything else is underwhelming. The fries really aren't that fantastic, they just don't provide the WOW factor for me. Restaurants are dated and dimly lit... I'm not really sure what the huge attraction is. Everyone really loves the Crown Burger though, which is a pastrami burger on sesame seed wonder bread that is bland and boring, ...Oh, the seats and booths aren't very comfortable, I guess that would go along with the...
