410 Diner — Restaurant in San Antonio

I am giving this place a 1 star and that is only for the waitress because its not her fault who her boss is. We just left this place. I was so ready to give this place a better rating and wanted to praise them just on my burger but what just happened turned everything upside down. My Husband, Myself and our 3 children came to 410 Diner because we have an app and coupon book that we had purchased through our daughter's school. So we decided to try this place out. We came in, The owner sat us on the side with the bar at a corner table, we had to ask the bus boy to please clear the seats because there were many food crumbs. We had ordered our food and the food looked beautiful. Chicken portion on the Durango was small and the chicken on my burger was salty. I informed the waitress and she said she would let them know. The mac and cheese was not authentic, and the mashed potatoes with gravy were cold. Their mushroom artichoke soup was delicious and the rest othe food was fine. At the end of our meal, my youngest 2 said there were ants on them and they turned around and sure enough, the whole area was infested with ants and some of them flew around. I was still eating and so was my daughter when I informed the waitress and she said "well dont touch them." My husband was in the restroom and we had to stay put because he had our method of payment. As I went to wipe my mouth, I removed a strand of blonde hair from my napkin, sadly it had already touched my mouth. The waitress walked up as I was removing the hair and I informed her about the hair and she let me know that it wasnt her because she had just started there and that her hair has been up. So I asked another waitress to please ask the manager to come over so I could speak to him and she said ok. I could hear a very upset man walking over saying he wasnt going to compensate us for our meal. I never said i was going to ask him to do that. He got to our table and was very rude to me in front if my children, he spoke at me in a very disrespectful manner saying he has been a owner for 38 years and never had a problem and we are the first to complain. I said ok sir well i recorded it and i will put it in my review and he argued back saying he didnt care if i showed god. He was very rude and i said my husband will discuss this with you when he gets back. So my husband then went to talk to him and this man was mainly looking at me to argue and then told my husband that he will give him a discount. We even said it wasnt about that, it was about how rude and disrespectful he was to me when i was just going to inform him about the ants and the hair. He said he had brand new napkins. My husband told him he was paying the full ticket and that we had a coupon and then he told us that he didnt have any coupons and we showed him the one that we have on the app. He took a photo of it and said he never put it there and then argued about how clean his place was and that you can eat off the bathroom floors. He then said he didnt want to argue because we were wasting his time and then I began to tell him that we were not even tryna argue with him and he began shouting pointing his fingers in my face. This man was on a rampage. We ended up just saying to give us our discount just because he was so rude. Please be careful when letting them know that there are any mistakes or complaints because this man will disrespect you and talk at you like how dare you make any complaints and this was our very 1st time here. This was a horrible experience at the end and I feel sorry for his employees. We still tipped our waitress. She even apologized and its not at all her fault. This is by far the worst experience I ever had at...

I would give this place negative stars if I could. My mother and I were regulars at this restaurant for well over five years. My husband and I frequently ate there as well. We took all of our visitors here as well and always raved over the food. Then they got a new waitress, who we were told her name was Jennifer, (young, slim, long dark hair).

On two separate visits Jennifer made sure we were made to feel unwelcome and did her best to ruin our dining experience. As we have always tipped well and treated the staff respectfully, we were confused by her behavior. On the first visit, the manager took over our table because Jennifer took our order, delivered sodas that were just coke syrup and then just vanished. The manager helped us until he could assign us a new waitress. No reason was given for her bizarre behavior, but he did apologize for the inconvenience. The second waitress was stellar and we tipped her well when we left.

On the second visit, Jennifer waited on is again. She took our order, brought us flat coke syrup sodas again, (persons given sodas before and after us said theirs tasted fine), and never came back to out table, intentionally ignored us, even though she was helping others around us. We assumed this was some retaliation because the manager had possibly spoken to her for abandoning us the time before, even though we had not complained or ask for him to do anything..he just noticed we had been sitting a long time a took care of the situation.

We flagged down another waitress and asked if they could get Jennifer. The gal came back, stating she would be our new waitress. After asking for an explanation, we received zero information, but watched as Jennifer and the other waitresses stood at the counter and laughed and pointed...well Jennifer laughed and pointed and their long term staff just stood around looking sheepish and uncomfortable. Manager was not to found, despite our requests to speak to him. When we finally got our food, we ate, but Jennifer's behavior made it impossible to be comfortable...my 74 year old mother was horrified and I was restraining myself from teaching this monster of a human being a lesson she'd never forget. We tipped our new waitress extremely well and left and have never been back.

My mother and I ate lunch here once a week for five years and my husband and I came AT LEAST twice a month for dinner, sometimes more. When I worked in town, my husband and I frequently had lunch there as well, so when I say we were regular customers, I mean regular customers.

Staff here have always been beyond stellar, so I'm not sure why such a lazy and rude child remains employed there. Every time I called to speak to the manager after the incident, he was unavailable, which just added fuel to my anger.

Since they don't care about loyal customers and treated my elderly mother like dirt, I've make it my personal mission to tell every single person who will listen how horrible this child treated myself and my 74 year old mother, who LOVED this place and how the manager doesn't care. My mother is still upset about the experience and I can't say the words 410 Diner without...

I believe Mary was our waitress. She was very kind and did a great job! It was a little pricy but I gotta say the Rhubarb pie was absolutely worth it.

I got the BLT sandwich with fries, my husband got a burger with fries. And then we got Rhubarb pie.
