A Slice of Heaven and a Pint of Perfection at Wild Barley Kitchen and Brewery

Alright, folks. I just had to update my review after yet another amazing trip to Wild Barley. This place never disappoints, and it's quickly becoming my go-to spot for food, drink, and general good vibes. First off, the staff? So friendly, I half-expected them to offer me a hug when I walked in. They make you feel like you're part of the family -- the cool, laid-back family that always knows where the best craft beers are. Speaking of which, the beer selection? Don't get me started. It's like a craft beer lover's dream -- there's something for everyone, from hop-heads to those who prefer a smooth, malty brew. You could spend hours just working your way through the menu, and that's the kind of problem I like to have.

Now, let's talk about the food. The pizza here is ridiculously good. Seriously, it's some of the best pizza I've ever had in my life. The crust is perfectly crispy and the toppings are always fresh. It's the kind of pizza that makes you close your eyes after the first bite and question how you've survived this long without it. But wait -- there's more! The chicken wings? Absolutely outstanding. They're crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and come with just the right amount of sauce to keep you coming back for more. If you're not ordering wings with your beer, you're doing it wrong.

And let's not forget the atmosphere. It's casual, it's relaxed, and it's the perfect place to kick back and unwind. The music is loud enough to set the vibe but low enough that you can still have a conversation without shouting like you're at a concert. It's the kind of spot where you can sip a cold brew, talk about life's ups and downs, and just let the stresses of the day melt away.

In short: Wild Barley is everything you want in a brewery, and then some. Friendly staff, great beers, killer pizza, and wings that'll haunt your dreams in the best possible way. Go there. You...

I was looking for a place to get a good sandwich in this area of the city and the Wild Barley Kitchen & Brewery was getting solid recommendations on the internet, so I gave it a try. This place is fairly small on the inside, but has a vast patio area with ample seating. Although house beers appear to be the main selling point, it only had a small bar with four seats, so I sat at an inside table for four. Being my first time, I asked a waitress of the ordering protocol and she informed me that once I knew what I wanted off the menu to go to the bar counter to put in an order and get a number and my order would be delivered to me. I was in the mood for a sandwich so I ordered the Cuban and one of the house tap beers. I also tried a few beers before deciding which allowed patrons to get a taste they preferred. The order was put on a tab in case I needed anything else during my stay. The beer choices were really good and it is obvious why people come here for a beer. Nice options and good tasting beers. There were also soda machines available in case beer isn’t your thing. After just about 5 minutes the Cuban sandwich with chips arrived at my table. It was absolutely the best sandwich I’ve had in quite some time. Toasted bun/hoagie, with ample ham and pork with swiss cheese, mustard and pickle slices. So good!!!

Although I gas a sandwich, others were getting the pizza, which looked amazing too. Patrons were saying it was very good as well.

Overall, this place is definitely a great spot with excellent food and beverages! Highly recommended. Yes, ordering and paying at the bar was a very minor inconvenience, but this place is a...

I have visited this carb lover's paradise a dozen times and I am always blown away by the delicious offerings. I have tried their pizza, breakfast sandwiches, and burgers, and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed.

While I'm normally not a bagel fan, their breakfast bagels are bombastic! The Gruene Veggie breakfast sandwich, in particular, is loaded with copious amounts of avocado and tomato, making for a mouthwatering breakfast experience.

Their burgers are out of this world, and the buns really stood on their own, providing an extra layer of flavor and texture. I highly recommend giving them a try!

While the pizza was just okay, the sourdough crust was definitely tasty. The tomato sauce and toppings were on par with most of the chain pizza joints.

However, what really sets this place apart is their exceptional customer service. In all of my visits, I've had nothing but pleasant encounters with the staff. They go above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction and will make things right if there's a mistake with your order.

They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but keep in mind that they don't serve pizza until 3pm on weekends. And if you're a beer lover, you're in for a treat! They have an impressive beer rotation, including their own brews and regional options.

Overall, if you're a carb fan, you simply must check out this place. With delicious breakfast options, mouthwatering burgers, and exceptional customer service, you won't be...

Let's dedicate our lives to making some of the best sandwiches in San Antonio, and let's pair them with some of the most mediocre sides and service in town. " -Wild barley owner (don't quote me on that) Plate your $15 sandwiches and sides in something better than an old beat-up metal tray. I'm not buying the hipster look. It just looks and feels cheap. I asked for hot sauce, and the guy comes out waving ONE packet of Cholula and says; "Are you going to need more than one?" The food is great. It just feels amateur. These people are AMAZING chefs and bakers, however they lack FOH touch. They need someone to close that gap. Someone to realize how annoying the ambiance music is, someone to train the cashier to sell the menu, someone to touch tables while they eat to check on them. The building and concept lends itself. Sadly, with all that talent..... this is just a sandwich/pizza shop. Invest in your brand by means of training, or you will fail. You're so focused on making the best food that you've lost sight of FOH. There is a reason why the raising canes a few feet away from you is much more successful than you even though their food is vastly inferior to yours.

First timers since the place was last Taco Garage. Greeted great by what I would assume was the manager who welcomed us and educated us about food and beverage options. The Mr. chose a Southside Craft Soda (Root Bexar) which was probably the highlight of our meal (very tasty!). We ordered The Meats pizza and wings. The wings are large Beer brined, Smoked, and flash fried wings. The smoky flavor was definitely there and the house made ranch was equally delicious. The main reason for our restaurant choice this evening was definitely the hype we read about the pizza. Unfortunately, the pizza did not live up to the hype. The meats did deliver and were really tasty but there was a ridiculously minimal amount of marinara sauce on the pizza so that left it feeling like a meatier cheese stick. I did ask the waitress for extra marinara but it never made it to my table. We arrived around 6p and it got pretty busy just after we got there so I’d assume the rush left the kitchen overwhelmed. I’d hope my experience was unique because I definitely want to make it back for bagels and a second serving of that Root Beer.
