Terrible food. I seriously think there is something wrong with peoples taste buds in San Antonio based on the good reviews this place has gotten. The only good things about this restaurant are the friendly staff and the nice decor but the food is awful.
I should have known better than to expect good sushi from a combination Thai/Japanese restaurant. I'm glad I only ordered a California Roll just to sample how the sushi tastes. The rice had a plastic texture , the crab tasted fishy, and the avocado was old. It reminded me of the term gas station sushi. It was utterly flavorless. And the Wasabi was a dark green like a bunch of food coloring was added to it. We were only able to choke down less then 1/2 of the roll. I have never in my life left a piece of sushi uneaten on a plate.
The crab Rangoon had a very runny strange tasting cream cheese filling with no crab. And they brought a little red Mexican restaurant style basket of Tortilla chips to go with the Crab Rangoon. So weird.
The yellow curry tasted like they just dumped a bunch of curry powder into the coconut milk without toasting the curry powder first. It had a gritty powder texture to the sauce. And absolutely no spice at all.
The spicy cashew nuts chicken was kind of sweet and had no spice at all. I had to ask for chili paste to add to it. It also had sliced carrots that were almost raw and not peeled so they tasted like earth. The dish wasn't horrible but the carrots and no spice made it NOT delicious.
We left disappointed that we tried this place based on the good reviews and were completely let down.

The omurice at 99 Asian Bistro is a must-try. It is a Japanese omelet filled with fried rice, chicken, and vegetables. The omelet is then topped with a delicious demiglace sauce. The omurice is perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the flavors are simply amazing.

Read moreWent to this spot for our first time yesterday me and my husband been seeing it for awhile now and we decided to finally try it. When you enter it looks so inviting and well decorated we took a seat in the middle at it was such a great calming environment. So our waitress gave us our drinks and then disappeared but to be honest she looked like she was the only waitress there attending to 10 tables including ours, so the to go order guy took our order. So when the food arrived it looked amazing to eye. My hubsband ordered the bento box when it came out it was in actual bento box which surprised me bc usually they say it's a bento they us a regular plate still but it was great to see an actual bento box. My husband loved the food that came in it. I got the Thai fried rice with chicken and beef mixed in the plate looked very eye pleasing took my bites the meat was juicy which was the only thing that was giving the rice a little moisture because other than that the rice was dry even after putting soy sauce on it and I also wish a little more meat was in it because there was more rice than meat, but other than those two things the meal was great overall. Me and the husband will...
