I really do not want to leave this review, but I want others to know about the lack of integrity at this establishment. I am leaving the same review at Easy Baby, not Chika (which we love).
In any event, here is the tale. My fiancee and I on a whim decided to get Chika at 6pm on Jan. 4, 2025. We had been here multiple times before, most recently at the party for a lawyer who sends me personal injury cases he needs to get tried. What's important is how bartender Adam treated my fiancee. My fiancee had taken a toothpick and taken one or two cherries from the jar in front of her. Ordinarily, no big deal. Adam, who seemed to be intoxicated, decided for some reason to make an example. He said, "did you ever see the movie Pretty Woman, an old movie, starring Julia Roberts and someone else..." and another patron helpfully chimed in, "Richard Gere!" "Yes, Richard Gere," Adam said slyly. "Well, in the movie, Julia Roberts' character has a friend and right at the beginning of the move the friend is digging around in the jars at the bar and the bartender says, "Kitty, this ain't a buffet." Adam shouted this so all dozen or so people in the area would hear, mocking the situation at her expense. She said, "I guess he's telling me not to take the cherries." And Adam said, "yes, but politely," and moved on. In any event, we then proceeded down the stars to Chika.
When we reached Chika, we were greeted by a familiar face, Karina, from a recent Christmas party where a referral lawyer had rented out the entire joint. In any case, I asked Karina if there was someone we could speak with about the commentary and whole display by Adam, and she said, "haha, about the cherries??!! Well, we REALLY don't have time right now for that..." Seeming to mock the situation. Well, we decided not to make a big fuss about it and sat down at our assigned table at Chika. Next, Karina came up and we spoke with her, telling her how it was really rude to minimize our comments and state rudely that she did not have time for us. She started laughing and saying "Is this about the cherries?? We really DO NOT HAVE TIME for that right now.." and proceeded to give excuses about the timing and the service etc. We said ok it's more about the way you said it than the fact that you don't have time for that. I asked her specifically, "Do you really think this is the right way to be talking to a customer? Yes or no?" and she seemed to get very uncomfortable.
Next, we settled things with Karina, and she sent Josh, who similarly passed the buck. I said let's talk about it after all this is over and he said, "No, it seems like you have some things you want to get off your chest" in a mocking tone. Mind you, this is before these people knew who I was or who my referral sources were, which demonstrates the lack of integrity. I could be the homeless man and they should treat me with respect and dignity or else get out of the service industry. Anyway, Josh said, "Oh, is this about how you had your fingers in the cherries?" Clearly mocking the event and making fun of us and our concerns. We calmly explained the situation, my fiancee in particular, and I then explained my concerns about how the bartender thought he was Scarface and made fun of my fiancee in front of everyone. Josh said, "Ok, I'll talk to him," and left.
Karina then asked when we had been there before, seeming not to believe us. I explained who I was and whose private Christmas party I had most recently been at about two weeks prior. The tone completely changed. She was an absolute "delight" after that, and Josh personally apologized to ME (not my fiancee, for some reason) after the meal. He gave us two free drinks (worth maybe a whopping $2 to Amelia) "on the house" and asked me, "please go enjoy them." That's the kind of place this is. When they find out who I am, it's all apologies and deference. When we could have been randoms off the street, we are treated like peons. Just be aware of what you're getting into here. Chika is 10/10,...

Read moreUnfortunate experience. First time here. Door man said words to couple behind us about dress code (male had a ball cap on). He gracefully removed and we walked in and there were people with ball caps on throughout. Not only that but women's in T-shirts and athletic shorts. I have no problem with people wearing what they like, but please be consistent. We waited just over 10 minutes for a sever and then an additional 15 for our drinks (French 75 and Sazerac). Server came and said (after employee in charge of water noticed us with nothing and said something to server and bar) that “he did in fact ring in our drinks but the bar did not see anything and are working on them now”. Meanwhile the large group of seven next to us had already received their “black label and sprites” even after ordering after us. A shame that the hardest working employee we witnessed was not even a server. We would have been blessed to have him. Now moving to drinks - the French 75 tasted like a cheap mimosa with some gin. Save your money and worry about parking and go somewhere else. Another trashy San...
