So I wanna start this review by making a disclaimer this is specifically about the location downtown... The location in Boerne is by far a whole different story and would easily be a 5 star experience... So we went on a Tuesday night at around 6:30 p.m. very little crowd especially inside we saw the outside was crowded so we offered to sit inside to which they obliged however it seems it took them forever just to find us a table... We got seated and were quickly asked for drinks we ordered a few drinks and we asked for chorizo queso dip... It did take a little bit to get our drinks however not that big a deal but when it took 30 minutes just to get the appetizer that's when we started to question our service we even tried to joke with the waiter who didn't really seem to care one of the drinks that he brought was wrong which we pointed out again not a big deal however he made excuses about it and not to make a long story out of this but literally we finally got our appetizer we finally got our meal and then that drink was brought out after that you can probably guess how long it took... We had asked the waiter for some chips since apparently the quwso dip only comes with 3 tortillas for a party of 6 and for 12 bucks... anyways we asked about 3 times for this bag of chips which if you're sitting in the restaurant they have bags already pre made sitting right where the service personnel are standing putting in orders we saw him go there numerous times never bringing our chips so finially one time when he was at the table my wife got up and just walked over and grabbed a bag and came back he chuckled and we said haha we finally got our chips but it was a fake chuckle pretty much describing our service.... The food was sub par to say the least I actually ordered the exact same thing that I like to order in the restaurant in Boerne and I felt like I was in a totally different place not even the same recipe.... To sum this up the attitude and arrogance of the waiter I think is what really made the experience worse than it actually was again the food was not horrible it just wasn't that great but I think if we woulda had a better experience with the staff it wouldnt have left as bad of a taste in our mouth... So in closing I would highly recommend La Gloria in Boerne but I would not recommend this restaurant...
Read moreMy experience and my own opinion. I had not been to the Gloria in a few years at least 4. I use to go twice a week for food and drinks. But a few years ago food and drinks along with service went downhill. I quit going. I tried it today for dinner. We waited 45 minutes. We were seated and no waiter for 15 minutes. I finally got up and called one. I ordered the ceviche Veracruz. Honestly about 3 ounces of fish and the rest nothing but diced tomatoes. Definitely not worth the $17 price tag. Server never came back to see if we needed drinks or anything else. We finally called her back and I ordered the pastor tacos because honestly the ceviche was nothing but tomatoes. The tacos were decent 3 mini tacos for 12 bucks. Ok I get it it’s the vibe you’re paying for but throw in some good food with the price tag. Or at least a decent amount. 3 ounces of fish and the rest nothing but tomatoes. My family didn’t like the service either. We won’t be going back. And I am not complaining about the price but put at least a normal amount not try to sell you tomatoes for ceviche. I have spent $1,800 on dinner and drinks at other places in town but really good service , really good food along with quality tequila in the drinks. The owner has traveled to Mexico to bring the vibe and decorations back to the US but lacks the food and the service. Especially the customer service. I have traveled to different parts of Mexico and have been to some really nice restaurants and some not as nice and customer service has always been top notch. We need better service here and...
Read moreI don't know where to begin to describe my visit to this awful place. There should be a warning that says "Food INSPIRED BY MEXICAN FOOD," but it still doesn't come close. Everything went wrong from the start. The waiter we had forgot to come back to take our order. I only asked for an extra two minutes to decide what to order, and after 20 minutes, I had to get up from my table to go get him. Once the food was on the table, it got worse. MY COCKTAIL CAMPECHANO had nothing to do with a Mexican cocktail. First of all, tiger's milk(Leche de Tigre) is a type of Peruvian ceviche sauce. The sauce itself seemed like puree. The seafood presentation made it hard to tell what kind of seafood it was because the pieces were so small. My husband ordered a pair of "Quesabirrias" with flavorless cheese, over-seasoned meat, and a super-low-quality flour tortilla. For God's sake, don't they know flour tortillas? The chef should go to northern Mexico to experience the true flavor of Mexican cuisine, especially Sinaloa to learn how to make seafood cocktails. Overall, for me, the place was CULTURAL APPROPIATION because it appeared to be nice, but the main thing that needed to shine was the food, and that wasn't the case. Not even the music matched the restaurant's theme; it seemed like you were in any bar or pub. You go to a restaurant to eat good food; everything else is redundant. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT.
They really need good food urgently because they are deceiving Americans with bad Mexican food, they are not giving them...
