So I don't get excited about burger places much. I guess as you get older your taste changes. But this little place was nice change of pace to the average burger joint. I'm really not into Gourmet Burgers. And this place seems to be a gourmet burger place. But I like the fact that their menu is straightforward and simple little too much on the menu if you ask me. So I just got the combo $12.99 comes with a burger, fries and a drink. I like the place. Inside their Decor is nice, plenty of seating space. It's clean inside. Wait time wasn't long and the young lady who took our order also brought it to us. I'm guessing if they're not too busy they can bring you your food otherwise you do get one of those little beepers when your food is ready. Got the bacon burger. You're going to like the Buns hence the name. All burgers are cooked medium unless you ask. It's difficult for me to give a accurate review because I just don't get excited over Burgers but overall it was a very good burger, good flavor all around. They did forget my onions. One plus I'll certainly say is I did ask young lady to make sure they burned my bacon extra crispy and they certainly did. Their fries are unique interesting shape as you'll see in the picture. They work, they're good and crispy. The other picture or the onion rings. Good batter crunchy I don't know what that sauce is, I know one is ranch the other one, yeah guys that one's kind of nasty. If you like the thin stringy type of onion rings, these are not for you. Overall I enjoyed my meal. I will go back, hopefully to try something different on the menu cuz they do have an interesting menu. Oh by the way they have a very interesting selection of draft beer and have a good happy hour. So if you do like gourmet burger types you like a different menu this place you will enjoy. So I do recommend if you're nearby make a stop.

Our first time here... Overall food was good. Unfortunately, the experience was unpleasant. We went to the drive thru because we were in a bit of a hurry to get back home to the kids. Keep in mind, we were the only car in the drive thru almost the entire time. Pulled up to the speaker and was told to hold on. Waited 10 mins without a word from them. We backed up and then pulled forward again to the speaker. Was told again to hold on. Waited a couple more minutes and said hello hoping they'd finally take our order. The guy told us to drive forward to the window, where he took our order. I asked if there were different sizes for the combos and he said no, and gave us the total cost. I said, don't the combos come with drinks? How do you know what to put in the cups? He said yes they do come with drinks and I told him which drinks we wanted. He again told us our total, but I said we weren't done ordering... We'd like the 5 piece chicken as well. He told us our new total. We paid, he gave us our drinks (no straws) and I noticed that not only was my Pepsi zero not filled to the top, it was totally flat. We waited at the window for another 15 minutes! He opened the window and said food should be done soon and apologized and said they're really busy. By this time there were two cars in the drive thru, us and someone behind us. We've been in a lot longer drive thru lines and have gotten our order in a much shorter time, so we were confused. He finally handed us our order and a free milkshake because we waited so long. That was nice and much appreciated for sure. Not sure if we'd go back.. might give dine-in a chance but we'll see.

My child, all of ten years old, woke up this morning with a primal urge coursing through her. "I would like a hamburger," she proclaimed, channeling the collective unconscious of America. I contemplated the usual suspects, the soulless chain restaurants that dot the highways and intersections. In a moment of serendipity, we decided to let the universe take the wheel and consulted Googles online ratings and found ourselves at Bunz Handcrafted Burger, the best-rated burger joint in all of San Antonio (possibly). The atmosphere was a wonderland for her, colorful, exlectic, seating that seemed designed by someone who understood the whims of imagination. And a claw machine graciously placed by the owner allowing me to prove to my daughter that I am master of the crane game! The manager spoke with us of how our food was arristically designed and prepared. The counter staff displayed an out of place kindness. But let's cut to the chase: the burgers. They were good. Really good. So good that they made all other burgers seem like sad, flattened discs of disappointment. She vowed to alter all her future burger-related cravings from our usual establishment (rhymes with plop toddy) to include pilgrimages to this temple. And here's the kicker: it didn't cost an arm and a leg. In a world where a sit-down restaurant might demand forty of my hard-earned dollars for a similar experience, offered salvation at a fraction of the price. In the end, isn't that what we're all looking for? A little bit of happiness and value all wrapped up in a bun?

On our first visit here, the regular burger was really good and everything was fine, but we had MAJOR issues yesterday... we also realized they are closed on Sundays, which is lousy. We were first very impressed with how good the regular burger and regular corkscrew fries and sweet potato fries were on our first visit, so, seeing how they are close to our house, we were happy that we no longer had to drive far for a good burger anymore. Well, yesterday (08/12/2023), I pulled into the drive thru line, which had 3 cars in front of me. The car in front of us at the speaker sat there for about 10 mins, and during that time, a worker came out and set a barricade behind me with a sign on it. He saw me looking at him, at which point he told me that I would be the final drive thru customer of the day, so I'm thinking, WHEW, I lucked out and got in line before they closed it! Well, the cars in front of me sat at the speaker for about 5-10 mins as they each pulled through, so I'm thinking they are just very busy and each driver had to wait before ordering. Well, I finally pull up to the speaker after about 25 mins or so of waiting, and no one ever answers me, and it turns out that none of the people in front of me ever got served. So then I pulled up to the window, and one worker ignored me for another 5 mins. then he finally opened the window and just said that the drive thru was closed. So I explained that the other worker told me that I should've been the final drive thru customer, and he said "we stopped serving drive thru about 4 or 5 cars ago". Then he just stared at me like I was an idiot for being in the drive thru. So I asked if the inside was still serving, and he said they were. More awkward silence, then he said "🤷‍♂️ sorry" and shut the window before I could say anything else. I waited 35 minutes in the drive thru and got nothing for my time. By then, I was really hungry, so I parked and went inside to either try to place an order, or speak with a manager. Well, inside was PACKED, and the girl behind the counter had just put a sign on the door saying "we currently have a 40 minute wait". So I finally gave up and left. I wasted a full hour trying to get a burger and ended up with NOTHING. This place apparently doesn't know how to handle a Saturday night dinner rush... So now, in the future, we will not choose to go here, because we can't be certain that we'll actually end up getting dinner. I'm sick of places like this not caring about their customers. They didn't care bc they had plenty of money coming in the front door, so who cares about a few customers that got screwed over in the drive thru? They were probably also under-staffed, or not properly staffed for a Saturday night dinner rush... Poor excuses either way. We are very disappointed, bc we actually did really like both the burgers, and both types of fries. I was furious last night, so it's probably good I waited to share this story until the next morning. We ultimately drove 15 mins away, to Culver's, instead, bc we still wanted burgers for dinner. AND Culver's is always really good, and we were served in a timely manner (despite another unfriendly face taking our order).

Final say: the food is really good, but the place the place could probably be managed better. If the drive thru is closed, make sure it's communicated properly to everyone, workers and...

I went to Tia’s Tacos next door once and saw the sign for Bunz. So the next time I was in that area I figured I would give them a try. When it came time I looked at their online menu first and went to the drive thru but was told that some burgers are not available at the drive thru because they take too much time to cook and I needed to go inside instead. To cut to the end, the burgers were pricey but good, similar to Hopdoddys. But when I went inside and placed an order the gal shoved that thing in my face that asked for a tip. I put zero and then she said “Why did you not leave a tip?” I told her I’m old school and worked in several fast food places and restaurants when I was her age back in the 80’s and no one ever got tips except the people who waited tables. She then rudely said “How do you expect us to survive without tips?’ I told her back in my day I made minimum wage or just a little bit more and when I was driving in to Bunz I saw a sign at another drive thru place that said $18 an hour to start, no experience necessary, which is more than twice the minimum age so she does not know how lucky she probably has it. She then said “So you’re not going to give a tip?” I told her sorry, no, not for you to walk three steps and give the order to the cook. She then said “Well, the tips go to the cooks too”. I told her I was a cook too when I was young and again it was minimum wage. She then stomped to the cook window, said something to one of them, and pointed at me. The cook then looked at me and went to where I could not see him. From there he may have spit in my food, who knows. Anyway, this is a place I will never go to again. It’s bad enough that pretty much every place feels the need to shove these payment things at you asking for a tip, but for an employee to call you out for not leaving one is...
