Read moreLoved it here when it first opened, but after my recent experience, it’s hard to believe this place is still in business. They definitely won’t be getting any more of mine. I’ll just state facts: We arrived around 6pm in a Sunday and I was really hungry after a long day of work. No guests were on the patio when we arrived yet every single table was dirty. When a staff member noticed we were looking to sit, they cleaned one off for us. the rest of the tables sat dirty with several staff member walking out looking around at all the dirty tables and then return back inside without doing anything about it. It wasn’t until more guests tried to come sit on the patio that a few more tables were cleared for them but the rest remained stacked with dirty dishes the whole time we were there. That’s just our experience of the atmosphere.
Now let’s talk about the food. We order the Camp Plate for 2 and when we it came out, the corn was ice cold, like out of the refrigerator cold and we were missing the sausage. We told staff, who said they would replace the corn but they were just informed they are out of sausage. No one told us this nor did they replace with anything on the plate. She asked if we would like more beef or chicken so I asked for another piece of chicken. The food that we did get was not good. Onions were old, there was barely any beef and the chicken was okay at best. The only thing I somewhat enjoyed were the potatoes. We waited for 20 more minutes and the corn nor the chicken it was never brought out so we left. The meal was almost $40 and we ate a chicken leg and a couple pieces of potatoes. This place is atrocious. So much potential but horrible staff, seemingly no management and extremely subpar food for the price. It’s really sad to see a place with so much potential just not care at all about the quality of their customer service or the food. We will not be back.
Oh, and we were still hungry so we’re went...
Read moreCamp Outpost was a pleasant surprise. We decided to check it out while we were in San Antonio. We had the Beef Rib Roast and the Fried Chicken Sandwich, with the Street Corn Fritters as an appetizer. It was all absolutely delicious. The street corn fritters were perfect. You don't need to add the lime on them, just dip them in the sauce provided. Quite good. The beef rib roast came with onion rings that my boyfriend said were the best he's had in years. He enjoyed the beef roast quite a lot. And the fried chicken sandwich was really good too. I didn't care too much for the pickles it came with but it didn't take anything from the flavor. The drinks are canned, so if you get a soda - keep in mind that you'll need to go order more if a can is not enough. Which brings me to the only thing that was missing for me and that is the service from a server. When you order, you are given a number so they can bring you your food to the table but that is the extent of the service they provide. If you want anything else, you must get in line again to order. There's no one checking in good everything tastes and if anything else is needed. Looking back in retrospect I'm a bit upset of the tip charged upfront. I am a firm believer of tipping according to the service and all they did was bring out my food. Be that as it may, the food is quite good. I'd visit again to try something different but I'd be well aware of what to expect next time going in. The parking lot is also very small, if you go when it's busy, you may not find parking. Also, be aware that there are other parking spots that belong to another business. Look at the signs clearly to avoid any issues with tickets or towing. Not exactly sure how they would...
