I love Stella and have never had a bad experience there, the pizza is on point, the drinks are amazing the space is just right. I went today and was happy to see my usual gracious waiter Tim was working. My main and ONLY complaint was this new employee named Clay. I am not sure what his function is, but I cannot believe he is being employed by such a cool place as Stella. He seemed like some kind of “greeter” but he was more like the annoying guy at the bar who wont stop talking to you no matter how many signals you try to give. Me & my friend walked up and sat and he was holding another table hostage. At first we thought he knew them, but very quickly could tell they wished he would leave them alone. It was like your drunk uncle that wont stop talking your ear off. First he started okay just thanking us for coming and making sure we had been helped (which signifies you dont trust your wait staff) and next thing you know he launched into waaay to much personal info. He asked where we were from originally, and immediately started insulting the BBQ from our state. And beyond being annoying and insulting, he took up SO much of our time and made us so uncomfortable by not picking up on a single social signal. If his job was to make sure we enjoyed ourselves and return, he did exactly the opposite. He knew nothing about the menu, and was dissing craft beer (which we mentioned we wanted). My favorite part was when he was standing in the way of our waiter who wanted to take our order because he was in the middle of an extremely pointless uninvited personal anecdote. Next time i think of going to one of my favorite pizza joints, i might call ahead and make sure he isn’t working. PLEASE reconsider this employee, or put him in a more...
Read moreSwanky place. Though only about a dozen taps, it’s still a pretty solid tap-house, all the beers seem thoughtfully chosen and I was impressed they had one of my favs and not so well known Save The World Beer on tap. Good job guys! Quality not Qty.
My biggest complaint is that you can’t build your own flight. Which for a tap-house seems pretty darn strange, but they will let you taste a few. (I asked for 3 tastes and they were pretty cool about it.) They also offer a a full bar for your non- beer drinking friends, complete with pretty cocktail drinks like the “Eclipse” and fancy chocolate martinis.
Its debatable if the food there is good. I shared a roasted beet pizza and thought it was great. My bf thought it was just weird.. but he also prefers papa johns LOL. and this is so NOT that. If you’re with someone less adventurous maybe opt for the plain pepporoni instead. Their pizza is decent value at $16-$18 for a big shareable pie for 2-3 people depending on your appetite. That said, other things like their crab-fried-green-tomato “salad” were pretty terrible in terms of taste and value. At $14 this “salad” fits on a small saucer and is composed of a tower of 4 slices of fried green tomato (cold and soft, not hot and crisp) held together w smears of guac in between each slice, then topped with a sprinkling of crabmeat garnish. I was horrified, yet starving, so I just ate it and said nothing... I understand the panini and gelato place next door is pretty good if you...
Read moreMan what a weird night. The bartender was the beginning. The hosts were the second. The cooks were the third. Bartender took forever to get to us, even though we were 2 of 4 people at the bar. He finally arrived and seemed a bit off. After the second time we ordered drinks from him they arrived - oddly the first time seemed like it never happened to him. When our app came we had no silverware or napkins so I asked him for a couple of setups. When those never arrived I went to the host stand and reached in to the basket to get my own because the girl standing there was completely oblivious to me being alive. Our second app was way behind so we asked the bartender and he inquired. Some people came from the kitchen and one dude who ultimately made our caprese had to pause from cooking so he could put on a large bandaid in the open kitchen. I assumed he would add gloves, but no. He proceeded to cut our underripe tomatoes and just hand us the plate like it was cool. We did not eat it, and the bartender didn’t seem to notice. We asked for the check and he gave it to us. I stopped by the host stand to ask for the manager to give a bit of feedback, and they brought the bartender. This place was a favorite of mine, but I feel like the whole place was being quite recreational (if you know what I mean). I rarely post bad reviews but when the main person I took issue with was the highest ranking person, what else do you do? Good...
