Highly disappointed in this place. My girlfriend and I decided to stop by for dinner around 6pm. Our orders were taken at 6:14pm; I ordered chicken yakisoba and my girl asked for the Masa Roll. We noticed that there were a lot of to go orders so we figured our food would take a while; well over 45mins later my girl gets her food but not me. No explanation, nothing was said when her food was brought to the table.
So we waited another 15mins. My girl doesn't like to eat unless all orders have been brought so she doesn't come off rude. Finally over an hr after ordering the food the chicken yakisoba arrives.
I could immediately tell that it didn't look right. I mean not every restaurant is going to prepare it exactly the same but it just didn't look right.
First, ramen noodles were used and the best yakisoba is prepared with soba noodles but I don't mind ramen; but that night I did. They were overcooked, dry and completely clumped together, piled on top of the chicken and vegetables.
Second, as I tried to gather some noodles and vegetables together I noticed that not all the vegetables were fully cooked. So after 2 bites of this dish they call chicken yakisoba, I felt completely disgusted. There was barely any sauce to the dish, almost like they didn't bother to use any soy sauce or sesame oil; nothing.
Third, I placed the dish to the edge of the table and about 5mins later the waitress stops and asks what's wrong. I stated "this isn't good" and to my shock she simply grabbed the plate without saying ONE WORD. I figured she'd come back to see what they could do to fix this but she never came back to ask if I'd like to order something else or apologize for the poor dish they served me.
It seems like they only care about getting their to go orders out the door and orders that consist of some form of sushi roll or similar. She did remove my dish from the bill but it didn't make a difference as I was still hungry and left with a bad taste in my mouth; literally.
We won't be coming back here ever again!! I'd rate lower than a 1 star but as you review readers know 1 is the lowest but for this place I consider...
Read moreGodai has become my second home over the past six years, and it's no wonder why. From the moment I step through the door, I am greeted with a warmth and hospitality that is second to none. Goro, the owner of this culinary haven, has mastered the art of making customers feel like part of the family. This review is long overdue for a restaurant that has become an integral part of my life.
First and foremost, the food is simply outstanding. Whenever I visit, I make it a point to order the Crunchy Roll without fail. Its combination of crispy tempura, fresh fish, and tangy sauce is a taste sensation that I've yet to find elsewhere. The chefs behind the bar are not only skilled in their craft but also passionate about their creations. Their attention to detail is remarkable, and their dedication to providing a memorable dining experience shines through in every dish.
Speaking of the bar, I highly recommend taking a seat there. Not only do you get to witness the artistry and precision of the sushi chefs firsthand, but it also provides an opportunity to strike up conversations with them. The chefs are incredibly friendly and approachable, always ready to share their knowledge, recommendations, and even engage in some lighthearted banter. It's these interactions that truly elevate the dining experience from great to exceptional.
One must not leave without indulging in their deep-fried Oreo dessert. Trust me when I say it's a piece of culinary heaven. The warm, crispy exterior enveloping the gooey and decadent Oreo is a treat that will leave you craving for more. It's a unique twist on a classic dessert and the perfect sweet ending to a delightful meal.
Now, it's worth noting that their popularity has grown over the years, and as a result, wait times can occasionally be a challenge. However, with a little planning and choosing the right time, this minor inconvenience can be easily mitigated. Believe me, the experience is worth any wait. And besides, it only goes to show how much others appreciate the exceptional cuisine and welcoming...
Read moreTried this place for the first time and I don't think this is the place for me. There were 4 of us and we each got our dish one at a time, about 15mins apart. One got ramen and was just about finished before the 2nd of us got our meal. About almost done with the meal before the 3rd person got theirs. It was awkward watching one of us eat at a time and by the 4th person stared eating 2 of us were finished and the 3rd halfway done. If we all waited until we all got our plates the noodles would have been soggy and 2 other meals cold. It is nice they say Irasshai when you first walk in but I personally feel that is too casual for a business, almost like they are saying it without meaning or some gimmick. I would have felt welcomed with Irasshaimase. The menu had misspelled tonkotsu broth, Tonkatsu is pork and Torikatsu is chicken. Calling both pork or chicken Tonkatsu and calling Tonkotsu ramen, Tonkatsu ramen is Not calling the food its correct name. Feels like they know nothing of Japanese food. Also the physical menu says Kitchen Dinner comes with Miso or Salad but when we asked the waitress she said that was only for the lunch special, we ask... then why does the menu say it, she ignored the question and walked away. Even when I check the online ordering, the Kitchen Dinner online shows option for Miso or Salad. If not offering it at dinner then update your menu, along with the few other mistakes and your online order menu needs update. The flavor of the dishes taste okay but there are other Japanese restaurants that have a more authentic flavor. You can say Irasshai to customers when walking in but say thank you in English when they leave. If you are trying to be authentic and not a gimmick why not say Arigatōgozaimashita as people leave. Welcome to try this place but dont waste your money. You will find other Japanese and Korean restaurants that give you food that will make you want...
