Located inside Hi Tones on the second floor, there is no wheelchair access. The Mai Tai drink is generally the best way to tell if a Tiki bar serves good Polynesian drinks. The first Mai Tai I drank at the Holy Diver Lounge was prepared by Kevin. The Mai Tai was fresh and crisp and tasty with the alcohol content mildly strong without overpowering to the palate, though to me, the Mai Tai just didn't have that Polynesian drink taste I'm accustomed to. Don't get me wrong, the drink was good, just different. I guess I compare Tiki drinks by as prepared by Mike Buhon Sr. of the Tiki-Ti in Los Angeles, CA. He has been mixing drinks since 1961, Mike Buhon was taught how to mix drinks by his late father, Ray Buhon, who opened the family business in 1961. It was Mike Buhon who said to me that the way you can tell if a Tiki bar mixes good tiki drinks. Anyway, the second time I visited the Holy Diver Lounge, I was with a friend. I ordered a Mai Tai, and Kevin began preparing the drink. My friend had not decided what drink he wanted to order. Kevin appeared to have mixed all of the ingredients of my drink when he asked my friend what he wanted to drink, and my friend said a Mai Tai, and within 20 seconds, Kevin served our Mai Tai drinks. My friend was impressed by the drink, and I felt the same. The music over the speakers is good and sounds even better while you're drinking your beverage of choice. The atmosphere is good.
Update: Holy Diver bartenders are inconsistent 😑 and the drinks hit almost like a Tiki drink but taste nothing like a real Tiki drink. I'm sure there are other Tiki bars in San Antonio, Texas, that are...
Read moreHoly Diver has been on my Texas tiki bucket list ever since I heard about their arrival. Our trip did not disappoint.
After confirming with some friendlies outside we were, indeed, in the right place, we made our way upstairs and were blown away by the atmosphere. The lounge is wide open, with a lot of cozy books set up to accommodate a small party.
Between our party of four, we had Mai Tais, Black Magic Woman, a Saturn, a killer in the jungle and some missionaries downfalls.
I would call the Black Magic Woman and Kill in the Jungle the stand outs for me. All of it was great. Staff was phenomenal. Crowd was lively and fun, even on a...

The decor is very authentic Tiki. We sat at the bar and our bartender Hillary was so nice! I really liked the missionary's downfall, it was minty and refreshing. The painkiller was also good but just be warned it is on the stronger side! My boyfriend had the mai tai and the cobra's fang. Really boozy drinks but it was just...
