I recently visited Southerleigh with friends to celebrate a birthday, and while we had a good time initially, the experience took a surprising and disappointing turn. After finishing our meal, I noticed my eyeglasses were missing from the table. I hadn’t left the table at any point, so I immediately brought this to the attention of the waiter, who said he hadn’t seen any glasses. I even checked my car, thinking I might have left them there, but they weren’t anywhere. Deciding to return to the restaurant for assistance, I asked to speak with the manager. I explained the situation, sharing that my glasses had disappeared from the table. However, the manager was dismissive and insisted I just leave my name and phone number. This conversation dragged on for nearly 45 minutes, which felt unproductive and frustrating. Eventually, the owner stepped in. While explaining that I believed the glasses might have been accidentally taken, the owner abruptly walked away mid-conversation. He returned shortly after, holding my glasses, which he claimed to have found near a fountain outside the restaurant. While I was relieved to have them back, I jokingly remarked, “Oh my gosh, magic!” This, unfortunately, seemed to upset him. His demeanor turned aggressive, and he started screaming and getting in my face, which was shocking and completely unwarranted. What started as a fun evening ended on a sour note due to how this situation was handled. While I’m glad my glasses were returned, the dismissive and hostile treatment I received left me feeling uncomfortable and disrespected. A more understanding and professional approach from both the manager and the owner would have made all the difference. I hope Southerleigh considers this feedback and works to improve their customer service...
Read moreSoutherleigh always hits the spot with every morsel of food it offers. I've never not enjoyed what I've selected there! Likewise my SO hasn't either! And the one time our steaks could've been a small bit less cooked and we mentioned that (while not actually complaining, because it still tasted like heaven!), the waitress told the manager and they gave us a discount on all of our food. We weren't even upset and they STILL made sure to give us the best experience possible.
That's the only time we've had anything like that occur though. Every other time has been precisely as ordered and the food never ever ever disappoints! Since the menu is ever-changing (though it does contain staples too!), they even have one outside that you can read prior to walking in, in case none of that particular menu is for you... though trust me, there's something delicious in there for everyone.
Their staple side of mac and cheese with CRAB is amazing and I highly recommend it. Likewise their whipped potatoes! Their deviled eggs also are a favorite of our's as an appetizer and we get it every time.
Onto their beer- they have their own beer and the selection actually is pretty awesome. Different flavors are offered for even more particular craft beer fans. I like to try two different ones when I go, because why not?
If you want to check out a place with beautiful and relaxed surroundings (you can eat indoors or on their patio too), that serves food and drinks that will make anyone's taste buds jump for joy and amazing staff- I highly recommend Southerleigh. It's my favorite place at the...
Read moreUnfortunately, I didn't take any photos of the food but it was all delicious. We came here for a large family gathering to celebrate some birthdays and mostly to celebrate match day for one of us!
We had a private silo and were served family style. Got to try the pretzel bites, deviled eggs, cornbread, and a salad to kick things off.
They were all good. The only thing I didn't care for was the cornbread. I'm not a big cornbread person, but having recently had the cornbread at odd duck in austin, i dont think any cornbread will ever top that, lol
The chicken was astounding. Seriously, it's probably the best fried chicken I have ever had or close to it. The ribeye was very falvourful and cooked perfectly! I don't eat fish, but everyone seemed to enjoy it.
The sides were great the mashed potatoes were delicious as was the mac but i wasnt a huge fan of the green beans and I LOVE green beans but the sauce they are in wasnt a combination I enjoyed personally.
The dessert was labeled as a bread pudding, but if you want my honest thoughts...its fancy french toast. This was probably the most disappointed I was the whole meal and it wasn't anything to do with the taste it was fine but my all time favorite dessert is bread pudding and this to me isn't in any sense a traditional bread pudding.
I'm sure by definition it fots the term and hence why they called it a bread pudding but it wasn't anything close to my expectation and was really dry for me with very little for sauce or cream to top it with.
That being said fantastic place would come again and...
