Two stars because the pastries are excellent. La Madeline absolutely ruined my Mother's Day morning. I'm a divorced mom so I don't get showered with gifts and I have to treat myself. I started planning my day the day before and planned to have a mimosa, eat a chocolate croissant, drink some good coffee and relax away my morning. I planned ahead and found that La Madeline has curbside pickup. I order pastries for me and the kids along with a mimosa for curbside pick up. The first thing I noticed was that there were two different telephone numbers on the confirmation email I received. I thought it was obvious that the number with the 201 area code was a typo but when I called the local store number, it sounded as if someone picked up and hung up. I had to get out of my car, defeating the purpose of curbside pickup and walk to to where about 20 delivery drivers were waiting to ask about my order. The lady wrote my name down and said she would check. I went back to my car and finally got through via phone. It was about 11:40 and my order was scheduled to be ready at 11:30. I was told they'd have my order out in a moment. I waited and waited. I spoke to someone next after 12 and was told they ran out of pastries and had to bake more muffins and croissants I reconfirmed where I was parked and the make, model and color of my vehicle. I waited and waited I next called to speak to someone around 1pm after I debated leaving but knew I wouldn't be able to find breakfast anywhere else at that time. Marie, the lady I had spoken to previously asked my name and where I was parked as if I hadn't spoken to her before. Ten minutes later I saw someone waking toward my car. My mimosa wasn't there so I asked for it and it was brought to me minutes later by another lady who looked at my children in the car and wished me a Happy Mother's Day. My morning Mother's Day plans were absolutely ruined as I had spent the morning parked in the La Madeline parking lot waiting for pastries. I had a terrible experience and all I wanted to do was cry. Marie, the lady who answers calla for curbside pickup never gave me a clear time frame for when my order would be ready and in the hour and a half it took for my order to arrive, I watched delivery drivers come and go and saw people drive up, go in and order and leave with their orders. Terrible experience! If my coworkers or the owner of our firm suggest LA Madeleine for weekly lunches or Friday breakfast orders ever again, my...
Read moreI love La Madeleine and i’m a frequent client, but my friend and I went this morning and everything was going well at the beginning. The person that take the order gave us excellent service and the person that helped pick up our food and he bring us some drinks, he gave us excellent service as well. But before we left I ordered a latte to go and as I was getting up to leave I go to tell the man at the counter that I had ordered a latte to go with soy milk and showed him the ticket that had my latte. He said okay and he didn’t take the ticket from my hand when I attempted to give it to him. So as he goes to make my drink the phone rings and he gets distracted and answers it. Once he finished making my latte, which he took a very long time to make, I immediately ask him if he made sure to put soy milk in it and he responded saying I had never told him to put soy milk. I told him yes I did and he said I should have given him the ticket and I responded saying that I tried but that he didn’t take it from me. He then goes to make my other latte and as he is he sees the first latte in my hand and tells me to throw it away and I responded saying no and placed it on the counter and told him to throw it away. He then grabs the cup throws it aggressively into the trash hitting the wall making the drink splatter everywhere. This whole thing upset me so much because I had not done anything wrong. I then asked him if I could speak to the manager and a women says “that would be me” with her back facing me and not turning to look at me. I then ask her if she saw what the man did and she said yes and turns to him only telling him about what a mess he made. Extremely unprofessional and terrible customer service coming from this man and the manager. I’m very disappointed that this is how I got treated in a place I love to...
Read moreMy friend and I came to this restaurant because he had a craving for the complementary toast and at the time, what I thought included coffee. We sat there having a good time telling stories. When it came time to leave for the night. When on our way out. An employee (what I assume to be the manager) talked to us behind the counter. Now he looked pretty laid back and like he wanted to joking around with us. He ask us, "Now who's got the tab?" Mean while I think this guy is joking. I said "Oh man, guess that's me". He replied, "You guys just sat at the table and didn't order a thing, but have been drinking coffee and tea the whole time." At this point I realize he's no longer joking and is fed up with us for having a great time at what I thought was an great place to start hanging out at... Now don't get me wrong. I would have happily paid for the drinks without anyother thoughts or complaints, but it's the way he treated me at this moment is where I'm really ticked off. He thought I was just another teenager with no morale guidance. He thought I was the scum of the earth and he was absolutely rude beyond belief!
In the end, I did pay for the beverages, But I will not forget the confrontation I had with this man and will not recommend this restaurant to any young person looking to have a good time.
To the employee who had judged me so blantantly, I kindly ask of you to please correct...
