My husband and I had the privilege of trying Oringo Africana today and all I can say is - it was worth the long drive, it was worth the wait, and worth every penny.

We ordered fried plantains, Egusi Soup with Fufu and Goat, and Okro Soup with Fufu and Beef. The chefs decided to bless us with some fish and shrimp in the dishes as well!

This was the first time we ate African food and we were impressed and delighted.

The fried plantains were a good portion. They were both a tad sweet and salty and they were perfectly cooked, not too fried, not too soft, not too hard, it was perfect. The Okro Soup had a great but light flavor and as expected, the consistency was more soupy and a bit on the slimy side but thats exactly what we were wanting to try. Loved the pieces of vegetables and the small details that made this dish so different than anything else I’ve tried, but still so enjoyable. The Egusi Soup was incredible. It was our favorite dish. The goat was tender, it was filling, the species and the ingredients all blended together to make an excellent dish. The consistency was different than the Okro in the sense that is wasn’t soupy or watery or on the slimy side, it was chunky and the seasoning was much stronger, full-bodied, and the flavor was concentrated. I ended up just eating spoonfuls at the end!

I apologize for my lacking descriptions on the specific dishes - while I have dined and traveled all over the world (15+ countries) to try different cuisines, this food is seriously unique: from the odors, to the textures, flavors, spices, etc. you just have to try it for yourself. As a disclaimer, I want to say that while I seriously loved all the dishes I tried, I know these combos of flavors and textures are not for everyone, but I still recommend you try it!

For new patrons: They do not have a brick and mortar and they don’t have seating, it’s curbside only. So, call the number on Google and place your order, which takes about 15-20min as it’s all made fresh for you. When you arrive, GPS will take you to a large apartment building called “Southtown Flats”. Just find somewhere near the apartments to park, and they will bring the food out to your car when it’s ready. That easy!

Overall, I give this place a 10/10 and will most definitely be returning. I encourage everyone to put in an order and prepare for a night of...

I patronized this restaurant on a whim one night because the regular African restaurant I patronize was too far a drive that particular evening after a long, hard day at work. I googled this business and they where 3 miles from home, so I decided to give them a try. Honestly, they aren't what Im used to from my regular spot, but I was super impressed by the owner's prompt response and service. He really has excellent customer service and asks how you found him, what you want, and follows up to make sure you are satisfied with your meal and experience. I really value that. I will definitely goo back and try more dishes. I ordered the egusi and fufu with chicken and beef as the meat/protein. I will admit I was surprised to find there was goat meat added to my dish along with the chicken and beef, but it was a pleasant flavor, just unexpected. It was a little expensive ($37) as opposed to the price I usually pay at my regular spot ($28), but I fully understand that everyone's costs/expenses are different, which determines their restaurant's prices. Overall, I had VERY enjoyable meal and will definitely go back. 8.5/10! Thank you! I look forward to more tasty meals...

The food was honestly amazing, it was my first time trying Nigerian food and I was no where near disappointed. TOTALLY WORTH IT!

The only reason I’m putting four stars (three for service) was because it’s not an actual building, it’s an apartment complex and the food is made by the guy that, I assume lives there. I was at first very confused and called and that’s when I found out. I then ordered through DoorDash but the guy had told me to cancel it and order through a different website which a lot of vendors use. I was up-charged $5 at first because it was originally $140 (I ordered 4 plates) on DoorDash and then he sent me a link to pay on the other website which was $145, but then I wanted to see how much it was if I had ordered on the original website and it cost $130 because there was no tax. (I paid $145)

The only thing was that the process was jusr a little confusing but the guy was very nice and very understanding and helped me through it. I highly recommend the food it’s definitely a 10/10 and I hope that he one day is able to get a restaurant and allow more people to try his food. It’s definitely homemade and tastes pretty...

My kiddos and I made the trip to San Antonio to find the place. We were a bit hesitant at first, as we had some trouble finding it. We eventually called the number. We were greeted with a polite person on the other end, and ordered 2 chicken dish soups with the fufu and the third one we added goat meat. While we waited, they called to apologize for the wait. It was only a 20 minute wait for the food to come out, but appreciated that they had communicated with us and that our order would be out soon. We found a place to sit outside as we were anticipating to try it for the first time. This is a hidden gem. Wonderful customer service, food made with love, and was beyond our expectations. I am hoping that the owner will open a restaurant, as we fell in love with the food. The only downside is that we didn’t have more to eat. Thank you for sharing your culture, talent, and excellent customer service. Definitely try this spot out, you will fall in love and come back. This place is worth the visit. We will definitely be back.❤️

I've always wanted to try egusi soup, since a Nigerian coworker told me about her home cooking. We were delighted to find this gem while visiting San Antonio. The gentleman cooking the food was extremely polite and helpful. I don't have any basis for comparison, but the egusi soup and fufu were fantastic. It came to us hot and fresh, and had so much flavor and just the right amount of heat. The chef told us about the health benefits of egusi and checked in with us to be sure we enjoyed his cooking. It was definitely made with love. The experience was unusual, as he cooks from his own kitchen and brings the food down to you. However, I think that says a lot about the authenticity of his cooking! Don't hesitate, give it a try. The great reviews are legit. Thank you! :)
