My review a year ago: "We love Popeye's, especially the spicy sandwich combo. This location is consistently very quick and efficient. Have had zero issues with our orders or had to wait long. Great team." Gave it 5 stars at the time. How times have changed. My review based on our experience yesterday:
COVID has had a massive impact on businesses of all types to hire (good) people, but that can't be used as an excuse for not doing the basics. Can't understand why we're still struggling so much at this point to get people back to work, but that is another conversation... Our trip to this Popeye's yesterday was very disappointing on many levels.
We ate inside vs. the drive-thru and were there ~2 pm. First, the good: The lady at the order desk was very friendly, but seemed very scattered, kept having to backtrack to get parts of the order, and wasn't really dressed like an employee (she had on some sort of pajama-like bottoms and wasn't in any sort of real uniform...). Service was good overall, though. It did take a while to get our food, but it appeared they didn't have a full crew on and had a busy drive-thru line, so that might have been part of it. I do have to say that the general appearance of the two other employees working orders for the drive-thru and dining room were not confidence-inspiring...
The food itself was hot, correct, and tasted good, but the dining area had several dirty tables and the place in general did not look clean. No one bussed tables/cleaned while we were there.
For whatever reason, Popeye's (as a chain, I think) still has their fountain drink machine turned off and no tea dispensers at the drink station area, so all drinks have to come from the kitchen, including refills. There were also no condiments in the normal spots (well, except salt and pepper packets...), so you have to ask for everything. There were no napkin dispensers, either, and we did not get any with our meals, so I had to go back up and ask for some. I was given 3 paper towels by the same lady who had served us (It almost felt like they had not received a delivery...). At this point, there is absolutely no reason to not have everything available in the dining room area. Almost every other restaurant chain has gotten back to normal in this area. I'm not going to get COVID from a soda machine...
Lastly, I went to use the restroom to wash my hands after eating. Holy cow. If I'd gone there first we probably would have left, as between it, the dining room cleanliness level, and the appearance of the kitchen where food was being prepared it was just all bad. The restroom truly looked like it had not been touched in at least couple of weeks. This was by far one of the dirtiest men's rooms I have been in anywhere in a long time, with a disgustingly dirty toilet, trash all over the floor, filthy sink, etc. It was seriously as bad as any truck stop or gas station in the middle of nowhere you've ever been to, and something I have never seen in a Popeye's before. I put that squarely on management's shoulders, pandemic or not.
Not sure if anyone from Popeye's management reads reviews or not, but I hope so. Going through the drive-thru (which I know is probably the majority of current business), customers do not see the inside. My guess is if more did they would stop coming to this one. We love Popeye's chicken and have been customers for years, eating at a wide range of locations in and out of state. This was our worst experience by far and deserves to be noted. Hopefully management at this location will get things together and the hiring situation gets better so that the restaurant can get back to a better place. Right now it's just...
Read moreHow do I begin. I went to Popeyes with two of my class mates from school for lunch. We went to the drive through but decided to go in to make sure our orders were correct. As I walk in a females states that someone will be with us. A black male with a red shirt come around the corner. Never greeted me just made weird eye contact with no smile or greet. I state what I wanted. I order two Tuesday combo specials. One with red beans and rice with Sweet Tea and the other with mash potatoes with gravy and Sweet Tea. The Black male with the red shirt proceeds to make the order. You can tell he doesn’t want to be there. He goes to the back with my cup then tries to fill it with Sweet Tea. I told him I didn’t want my drink after I saw him do that. I didn’t make a big deal I just knew that. I didn’t want to address it because I was already done with the way everything was going. I just wanted to get back to school. He made a big deal about why I didn’t want my drink. So to defuse the situation because he was already angry from when we walked in. I just walked out the store and went to the car. My classmate informed me that he didn’t want to give her her drink that she paid for which was weird. She stated that he didn’t want to give out his name. So I went in the store to ask for the manager. He said it was him. So I took a photo to put it on the review so he can be address by corporate or management. He was upset that I took his picture. As I was walking out he decides to follow behind me to make threats. If you have cameras you need to check them and investigate for yourself. He tried to walk up to the car. I told my class mate to drive. This is totally unexceptionable. I never knew I had to go through so much just to get a meal that I had my hard working money for. The receipt wasn’t mines. I didn’t get one but my class mate received hers. She...
Read moreSo today I was going to give this place 1 more try. The past 2 visit last have been bad experience. The last one I received raw nuggets. Reached out to corporate to have them tell me the store will reach out to me which they never did. The prior was I had old chicken that was dry. So I was like ok 1 more time. I ordered a big box meal with the app. Then I headed out. I was pulling in and to myself said thank goodness I ordered through the dining area since there was a line (7) cars. I proceeded to go in and a sign on the door saying lobby closed. I go to counter and stated I place a mobile app order. He said well you have to go through the drive thru. Seriously. I said no I ordered in store pick up. He said no go through the drive through. N said just refund my money and he stated I have to go through the app. Then he began to complain how they closed the dining area for him to clean it cuz it’s so dirty. Really guy. You could’ve gotten my order when you were complaining. I said can you please just get my order. He just turned around grabbed my food and no thank you no nothing. I said thank you and walked out. I literally drive past the Popeyes by my house for this one and sad to say this one has gone downhill the past year. You all are in customer service/fast food industry. If that’s to hard for you get another job. Will not go back to this location. The rude gentleman had purple hair if you need to...
